God the animation has gotten so shit that I genuinely thought that was fanmade. Tweened piece of garbage.

Because Nightmare Moon is a one off, its like how every Evagallion fic has the first show angel die like a bitch no matter what, even though it was one of the canonical brute force tier strengths. The rest were gimmicks, while that one took nukes to the face and kept on going.
You would have to explain how she is so strong in a story, but still taken out instantly by the EoH and never to return because the EoH sealed and destroyed the persona.
Essentially, only a very brief prelude to the show, or something like fromt eh time travel episode.

Her very existence kickstarted the entire series and all the the stories that came after. That's something at least.

I feel like it would have been more interesting to spend the entire first season dealing with Nightmare Moon, then redeeming her in the finale and launching into this timeline's season one.
