For me, it's more a case of fury at their consistently ruining what ought to have been a possibly very interesting character with shit-tier writing.

My biggest reason as to why I dont really like her is that I dont feel like I have been given a reason to like her. We barely know her compared to any of the main six, but it feels like they are wanting her to become the new main character. What? No I started to watch the show for its six characters and their lives not this pony who isnt even interacting much with the original cast.

THE ONLY thing i really hate about her is that they focusing on her past TOO MUCH instead trying to shape her into an original character with own quirks, depth, weaknesses and strenght and with own goals.

We have nothing beside constantly reminding us that she used to be evil and now she feel sorry about it or that she used to mind control ponies. WE GET IT. now get over it and develop her as a character. Give her a goal like finding her parents or seducing Sunburst. Give her some interests like maybe studying dark/chaos magic or become a psychologist. Give her some unique character traits that don't make her look like a normalfag/Sunset Shimmer. Make her more arogant than Rarity, more extrovert than Pinkie or at least more Nerdy than Twilight. Just stop writing her like Sunset Shimmer who only react to others and by herself she can only know how to brood.

Look like writers only knew how to make her a villain. Once they removed that thing from her, she became the blandest character on FiM. Even Cheerilee and Mayor Mare are more interesting than her. Not to mention, that Trixie or Moon Dancer would have been a much better choice than Starlight.

Now that includes weird torture that would only be apparent to adults, for a child it's not unusual to be held in place when misbehaving or be forced to do something but it's well established the characters are young adults. this guy nailed it pretty well, i remember when season 5 started how everybody including myself had great expectations for glimmer, a villain that for once wasn't just "muh power" and could hit the mane 6 right on their most vulnerable spot, their beliefs, a character that would make Twilight fight not through DBZ laser battles but with arguments since her motivations as a "villain" would be saw as legit

Them the finale happened and everything went to shit, now she is just a big waste of space that adds nothing to the chemistry of the group like the mane 6 do with each other, just like Shimmer
