i despise studying and i can afford a small apartment and food with the income from my current job. i work 10 hours a day at a warehouse so it kinda stinks but ill manage.

i havent given up on my hobbies tho, and i never will. without ponies id kill myself in a heartbeat. sure my schedules are kinfs full, but "when youre friends, you MAKE the time!"

I can understand that because I sort of agree... however we never really have any REAL academic evidence that its true. Most people link to a thread where the guy talks about symmetry and the apparent softness of their skin and the exotic colors and archtypes and the long hair and big eyes ETC ETC ETC ETC. But we never have an actual REAL source on whether or not any of that is true. There was never a proper experiment. So far the biggest I've seen had only a thousand or so applicants.

I do have a hunch that some of those explanations are true, but I don't believe that you can suddenly be turned gay by the evil furry porn empire. This is the alt-rights way of saying that sexuality is black and white, and not a scale that varies from person to person.

This is why so many right wingers who are super anti-gay end up being caught with their throats wrapped around a fat cock in a public washroom. You clearly do not understand the difficulties faced by these types of studies. These studies are not experimental, they are observational and simply go ask people questions, compile data, and try to deduce patterns that explain the responses they receieved to their questions.

These can't be in peer reviewed journals and are inherently flawed because of preconceived expectations on the part of the investigators due to the exotic nature of this and the furry fandom that then warp the questions, and then on top of that, poor outreach and sample choice that poorly reflect the overall structure of each community, and the sometimes misguided conclusions that the researchers draw themselves.

Some of these flaws are irredeemable and cannot be fixed, such as the sampling methodology, because it is dependent on those who actually express enough interest in the first place to take these lengthy surveys and willingly contribute to advancing scientific understandings about their own culture. The hypotheses are shifting toward better grounded questions because the original pilot studies have been as successful as they could have been. New hypotheses are arising that draw on the past research and are inherently better formed and can be addressed easier compared to the original pilot studies that originally sought to get a starting point/basic representation of the demographics they were going to study in the future.

Why are you shit talking these studies when there is almost really nothing comparable to fulfill its place? Medical journals won't touch these topics, sociology and psychology would be infinitely more invested and have been so far the only fields to have investigated the furry or horse fandoms.

This desu. It's extremely difficult to do scientific research on stuff like sexuality because "hard evidence" would literally be a survey. If someone says "I used to be straight, but now I'm gay", there's really no way to prove or disprove that. That, and research into the causes of sexual orientations/preferences is hard to find because it's a politically charged hot-button issue. No respected and reputable scientist wants to risk his career and his funding on asking touchy questions that might offend the wrong people. That's why literally a fucking *survey* posted on fucking *livejournal* is pretty much the hardest scientific evidence you're going to get when you're asking questions about sexuality and sexual orientation.
