That was an incredible animation, loved the smoothness, if that's how toonboom harmony looks with pony I know the movie is going to be fantastic

EileMonty's voice doesn't fit, sounds nothing like Luna she's too autotuned and not expressive at all, needs more sound FX.

Sad how Kristen Calven was more expressive than overrated brit lady.

The animation was amazing, but the singing ruined it.

I like Ponyphonic's original voice the best. I haven't even listened to his new one though. Though I admit using a male voice in the animation may not have fit.

I just have never been a fan of Eile at all. I think she overshadows too many other talented VAs and singers in the fandom. Not to mention she has an ego at cons when I see her.

Hitting the notes is one thing, having range is another. There are multiple octaves and she seems to go powerful or soprano every song she does. I wish people would recognize that yes, she is talented, but she shouldn't be picked for simply being popular which is what I have heard some producers say when they are interested in having her on one of their projects. It's been years since she first came into the fandom and people have told her this before and she still hasn't improved even with her latest video. If she wants to be the TLT of the singing department of the fandom in the way that she goes Soprano every song the way TLT uses the same drum samples for all his songs then be my guest. But I won't applaud mediocrity.

Listen anon, she isn't bad at singing. And from what I have witnessed at panels and convention events, she comes off as merely pompous. But no worse than most Horse Famous people do.

But she isn't the best VA and singer in terms of how professional quality goes in the world of singing and voiceover. For a fandom-quality VA and singer she's good, but put her up against a queen of female voiceover and talent, Tress MacNeille, in terms of range and variety she doesn't even come close. She is still novice.

What some anons (including me) are tired of is when bronies put these sub-par community talents on a professional scale and give them the title while ignoring the results of the scale. but i digress, eilemonty is good but she's definetly autotuned as hell in the animation. a lot of the fandoms being flooded by little kids on the voice actor side, only a few over the age of 17 or 18 are good singers. one i meantioned earlier, wubcake, is a beginner but with her range, she's got potential just needs a couple lessons, though she always improves each video. eile again, is good but she says the same.

Anon I am going to be honest with you. That is not at all how producers find VAs and singers. In fact that is a terrible way to do it. Doing that will give you a YT video made by a 15 year old girl summarizing her personal and uneducated opinion on her favorite fandom celebrities. It will also produce some click bait most likely considering the people who make those top anything videos utilize click bait for viewership..

It's all about who you know on the inside with inner connections. I know Jordana and Richard. I've worked with them. I just was in a meeting with them regarding convention and project matters less than a month ago. They are actual professionals who work in a professional animation studio in Canada. They know what they are doing. Sure I have no idea what made them decide why they chose Eile over Kristen but hell that is just my personal opinion. They know better than me.

My point is that the professional industry doesn't search Google for "top fandom VAs and singers". They do their research without depending on Google's unreliable metadata of fandom celebrities.

Call it blowing it out of proportion if you want but it is musicologically correct to say that Eile is hitting the soprano too much and is what experts call "oversinging".

As for the animation, we need to get Minty Root in here since he seems to be NEAR expert on the subject considering he is in school for animation. From what I can tell the designs are good and the backgrounds are too. It's not as good as Children of the Night but still good.

But I am not an expert in animation. I went to school for music. That's all I know.

But we cannot say Eile is BAD at singing. She isn't great but not BAD.

It could have been great, but choosing Eile over Kristen fucking ruined it. Eile's voice doesn't fit Luna at all and she goes full edgy at the end for no fucking reason. And the animation really isn't all that great. It may look pretty, but there's not much to it. It's just Luna walking around, Starswirl being shoehorned in there for some reason and Nightmare Moon looking fucking ridiculous.

Meh. It's okay.

The animation is pretty good probably about 7/10 in terms of fan projects.

The song itself is meh, you can tell the singer is forcing it and the song itself is so generic Disney villain song that it hurts. I mean it's not terrible but it's like a 4/10 at best, there's just nothing interesting, original or exceptional about either the song or how it's performed.

All in all I have to say that this is probably one of the most uninspired animations I've seen for this show. It's just Luna walking around singing a villain song rehashing her transforming into Nightmare Moon again. Certainly doesn't help that we've seen this entire story made into a fan animation several times at this point.

All in all 5/10. It's mediocre, generic and uninspired and the only reason to watch is for the animation. The song and story have both been done to death by now and this doesn't add anything new of note.

Did they use a different singer for this than the original? It sounds a bit different.

Also, I feel like the 'extension' didn't help as much as it should have.

They had Luna's eyes first turn cat-like, and I feel like they should have made the rest of it a bit more gradual, like her wings shift at some point (maybe when flexing them), maybe she grabs the armor and transforms it, and the black coat comes last? But that's just me.

Animation is fantastic even if it doesn't break ground in how it's used. I haven't payed attention to fandom content in years so I didn't know it was ElieMonty - thought she was fine.

I don't know about you guys, but Crowne Prince is more of an overrated person than Eily Monty is.
