One of the best parts of the show is when they subvert your expectations or deconstruct common themes. And I mean, they still kinda did with him recognizing Fluttershy, but still. Everyone could see that Elvis Pone was going to be the villain, which is why they totally should have had him be the only reason the casino was still afloat.

The episode should have had the cast remove Elvis, only to realize that without him, the performers basically dropped each other and went their separate ways. Then the rest of the episode is convincing him to come back and solve their issues for real.
