>Between your coughs you hear a multitude of sounds and voices echoing from afar.
>They all seem to meld together into one incoherent mass, though you can sometimes make out a single sound, like an angry yell or a dull impact.
>More notably though there are sudden, colorful flashes of light, so bright that they're visible to you even though the biting dust has made you squeeze you eyes shut tightly.
>Most of the flashes are followed by a loud, sharp bang shortly afterwards, not as powerful as the one that broke your window but still loud enough to resonate within your chest.

>If you go outside you could get caught up in the fighting.
>Whatever you do, you're fucked.
>Panic slowly wells up inside of you as you start to hyperventilate, trying to come up with a saving idea, but coming up with nothing.
>You need to stay calm.
>You need to stay calm!
>A weird numbness overtakes you as you repeat the sentence in your head in an attempt to stay in control of yourself.
>The pony at your side, the ringing in your ears, it all starts to feel distant, as if you weren't actually there, as if you were merely watching someone else sitting there on the floor.

>When the meaning of what you just said sinks in, Derpy immediately goes back to crying loudly, somehow holding on to you even stronger than before.
>"No!", she shouts, "I don't want to leave you!"
>Why can't she just listen?
>Feebly you try to push her away from you as the steps arrive just on the other side of your bedroom door.
>When it opens you realize that it's too late and you close your eyes in defeat, awaiting your end.
>However, what actually happens is that your body is suddenly engulfed in the familiar tingle of magic and you feel the sudden jerk of being teleported.
>Confused you open your eyes and find yourself in a large, white room together with dozens of the other residents of Ponyville.
>Twilight seems to be standing next to you, but before you can speak up she teleports away again.
>You feel the greatest relief you have ever felt in your entire life as you realize that no demons ever entered your house and that you've just been evacuated from your house.
>With the knowledge that Derpy and you are now safe strength seems to be leaving your body and you promptly pass out.
