The Dresden Files (I highly recommend reading) does a great job of this by having wizards killing any electronic tech that was made after the 50's within a short range of them when they use magic and even if they don't use magic, it'll still fizzle out after some time

I don't think it should be rid of magic, it should stop being the sole focus of everything because it is so badly explained and wears itself thin if it needs to be used to explain everything.

In an EQG series magic should be the source of their powers and their main tool it makes sense to tie them to Equestria, but when it comes to antagonists I feel they should start fighting antagonists who have no ties to Equestria at all. It would show magic is being somewhat contained and can show how magic can be a good thing if it is being used to stop threats that possibly would arise anyway.

Plus including threats not from Equestria boosts the antagonist variety as well as gives the series its own world building.
