Oh, you're right, I'm sorry, it was quads.
Could you please not just spout buzzwords at me and tell me what you actually dislike? Is it the shipping? How they interact? Do you feel that it's out of character? I feel that would make for a better conversation.
>>28746336
Well since you're asking nicely and not just trying to piss off people with images downloaded from Derpibooru...
>Accent
Overdone and bullshit, she has no reason for it especially since she wasn't portrayed as living in Canterlot. Would have been interesting to see a german accent or even a younger british voice/one that isn't so "up the ass high class london lady" sounding.
>Shipping
Opposites do NOT attract. I'd be okay if they were friends, but why the fuck do they have to live together, not to mention they didn't have the previous exposure of being/hanging out together like, say Lyra and bon bon.
>Interaction/OOC
Like I said above, they can be friends just fine and treat eachother w/ respect and all that glamorous shit. But keep that duet and genre mashing away from each other. Its out of character too. You see Octavia performing once at the GGG, and then all of a sudden shes just playing ebin dubsteps? No siree.
>>28746412
What do you mean she wasn't portrayed as living in Canterlot? I found it more surprising that she was living in Ponyville. The majority of her appearances were in Canterlot. I think she was only seen outside Canterlot once before Episode 100. I can understand it being overdone, but you can't claim it came out of nowhere.
The rest of this is just opinions that I can't really fault. I can understand why you hold them, even if I don't believe them myself.
>>28746484
She has a split house with Vinyl.
Theres no evidence that she lived in Canterlot. Only performed there.
>>28746556
Ah, I see.
So what you're saying isshe's faking it.I still stand by my point that it's not out of nowhere. You spend enough time around someone, you begin to mimic their accents. At the very least, her appearances in Canterlot combined with her accent at least imply that the lived there at some point before moving to Ponyville.
Really, our limited scope of vision on Octavia's life makes pretty much everything an assumption. And while I can understand Occam's Razor, I don't think it applies here.
>>28746646
Not that anon, buuuuuuut
Or its just hasbro fan pandering
>>28746646
I know the whole deal with accents and it would make sense, if we had closure. So I choose to believe that Ep100 is not canon... It seems childish but who am I to forget where we are?Besides, you gotta admit a german voice would be sexy as fuck
>>28747059
>Besides, you gotta admit a german voice would be sexy as fuck
We can both agree on that. Unf.
You're all right, bro.Besides, with the amount of stuff I pretend is not canon, I can't condemn you.

>>28746290
Never knew "Octavia Philharmonica" was a thing.
What's that even mean? Her family loves harmonicas?
>>28749103
It's referring to Philharmonics, those super-fancy symphonies that tour an shit.
I could be slightly wrong though
We don't get philharmonics out here.
>>28749148
Yeah, that I knew. Just from annual TV shows like the Boston Pops Philharmonic Orchestra.
I just didn't know that anyone gave her that last name. Not bad, actually.
Hasbro got the name Octavia from the fandom, but they likely tacked on Melody to protect the trademark. They've lost pony names before, so can't blame them for all that. They did the same with Lyra.
>>28749103
What >>28749148 said.
It was mainly used back when Season 2 was airing, then kind of just...faded out in favour of Melody. It was probably partially Hasbro's fault, but I still occasionally find people who think it's Philoharmonica.Or at least, those who don't make it her middle name.
Octavia clopfics, please?

Here you go!
There were a couple stories with a Russian Octavia, but they are currrently buried in my favorites.
One involves a Vinyl Scratch gathering up a group to gather some mcguffins based on Music, or else all of time will cease to be in some other dimension. The group includes Vinyl, Octavia wielding a sword with her tail, Nurse Redheart... And that's it I think.
The other has Vinyl Scratch on the run from some group, meeting either a Russian or German Octavia on a train, who then joins her.
These stories were written prior to 2013 when Octavia's surname was revealed as Melody... Ugh. How generic.
But that's that.
>>28744058
Don't be upset anon, they are only best friends
>>28758426

Did Octavia die in that story?
I swear there was a green on Octavia stalking anon. One part included her clopping and slipping from her marejuices while hiding in a bush outside anons house while he was doing pushups. Resulting in her being found. Anyone have a pb link?

Yeah
I miss 2014. Octavia had many more lovers back then.even though Im the true Octavia fagI remember one anon had a felt decoration of Octavias cutie mark, black background and whenever he had people over, he could just take the cutie mark off or some shit. Nostalgia man, too bad all of that is gone now. And her character is ruined.
Bump
bump
Bpm
>>28779675
Why would you need to hide Octavia's cutie mark if you were using it as decor? It's just a violet cutie mark.
Also, please explain how her character is ruined. I'm very curious.
>>28781104
Wouldnt know, Im not the anon that did that. But Im the anon from earlier in the thread. Her character is ruined cause of her voice, the out of character actions in slice of life, and the fact that shes living with Vinyl. If they were relatives, that'd make sense. But the fact that theyre just randomly mashed together without any headsup beforehand is ridiculous. And It pisses me off when people ship them.
>>28781259
>ruined cause of her voice
It's not that bad.
>out of character interactions in slice of life
It's hard to write her acting out of character when she's literally never been characterized in the show before.
>if they were relatives, that'd make sense
They could be, we don't know.
>theyre just randomly mashed together without any headsup beforehand
Just like everything else that happened with the side characters in that episode. It's just a nod to the fandom, which (for any number of reasons) always shows them together.
>And It pisses me off when people ship them.
I don't necessarily disagree, but that's very subjective.
>>28781434
>If they were relatives
That makes my dick harder than it should
>>28781434
>subjective
No, its more like it doesnt make any sense. And all hasbro did by adding them together was fan pandering.
Her chaacter was developed in that we only saw her playing with other high class ensembles. The fact that they just mashed cello with electro is disgusting.
>>28781471
Maybe they're childhood friends. Maybe they're only roommates as a matter of convenience. Maybe they both occupy different social circles, but choose to live together due to their differing takes on music serving as a continual source of inspiration for one another. Maybe Octavia resents only playing for the elite, and enjoys the club scene more than she lets on. Maybe the opposite is true for Vinyl.
>And all hasbro did by adding them together was fan pandering.
You arrived at the point of the episode, gg. But just because they were mashed together for the sake of pandering doesn't mean they can't both be good, consistent, interesting characters, you unimaginative goose.
>>28781510
It totally means that. I can only hope that in future episodes that she is like bon bon where her voice changes several times. Additionally, Maaaaaaybe this only happened cause hascucks.

What about the old Luthier anon prompt?
Here's an idea for the story, Luthier Anon has opened an instrument repair shop to make it in this new world he has been dropped into. Everything goes well until one of his customers catches his eye and he tries to win her heart. (maybe by making a cello for her or something to that extent).
>>28795088
sounds like a plan, not that writefriend but might bite.
>>28795088
>luthier anon prompt
Man, that's been on the Tavi greentext menu for over a year now. Didn't the guy who said he'd attempt it give up because of the amount of research required to make it good?
What a coward.
> You are anon the great and respectable luthier.
> It has been two years since you had first rolled into this quaint little town.
> You didn't really know how to react to the pony inhabitance.
> At first you freaked the fuck out.
> Then you got hit by a floating shovel…
> Funny how things work out.
> A purple heart and a massive compensation bit bag later and here you are.
> Sitting at the back of your shop fixing fiddlesticks bow.
> How she managed to break one every two weeks is a mystery no one really cares to solve.
> But at least she paid well.
> Ponyville didn't really have a good musical market.
> In fact, fiddlestick was the only one that really bought anything from your shop.
> Location really is the cream of the crop for business.
> Too bad you never listened to your teacher back on earth.
> God she was something else.
> Chuckling at the memories you align the frog before the pad and slowly twist the screw.
"Nice and easy..."
> You say softly as you turn the screw and watch strings gets tighter.
> You wanted to make sure it could handle a bit of stress.
> While also looking at its flexibility.
> A high-pitched ring, chimes throughout the shop.
> Having next to nobody visit your shop you twist the screw a bit too far and snap all of the strings.
> "God fucking dammit." you mutter to yourself.
> Placing the now ruined bow onto the counter you make your way up to the store front.
> Arriving at the counter you come to see a mare the could be considered fiddlesticks doppelganger.
> The only things different were the colors, pink bow-tie and the giant cello case she seemed to be dragging around.
> Could this actually be a customer?
>>28797057
"Welcome to Strings and Things. How may I help you?"
> You really wanted to name it 'the sound hole', but ponies here can be immature at times
> Either way you digress
> Catching her attention she looks up at you with her beautiful violet irises
> you look back into them softly...
> until you see the broken bow in her hoof.
> 'Oh for crying out loud! Why can’t they just come here for my instruments!' you stated mentally
> The mare, however, was still stone cold silent as she continued to stare at you
> This was normal, ponies around here were still getting used to you and what not
> 'Take a picture it'll last longer' you comment mentally
> what you didn't expect, was for there to be an actual flash
> Rubbing your eyes, you come to see featherweight holding up his camera
"Featherweight I swear to Celestia’s sweet flank, you keep coming in here and taking pictures of me I'll have to file a restraining order against you."
> He seems to get the gist of what you're saying as he dashes out of the store
> you wish he would stop obsessing over you, it's kinda getting a bit weird now
> Letting out a sigh you didn't know you were holding back, you look back at the gray coated mare.
"Sorry 'bout that, what can I do for you"
>>28797068
> the mare holds out her bow
> "I heard that you were the best at repairing bows." The mare claims in a very sophisticated tone.
> 'Of course what else did I expect. It's not like I also make instruments or anything.' you claimed before looking at the bow.
> its design was quite remarkable
> well for a bow that is
"Yeah, best around here."
> Turning the screw you remove the frog from the bow
> A couple seconds later and you had removed the top pins holding the pearl slide in place
> the ferrule was the next off revealing the exposed hair
> and just like that it was ready to be replaced
"Can I get some of your hair please"
> You would have just told these ponies to get a new bow altogether, like the ones hanging on the walls
> but apparently custom hairs from their own body was a thing around here
> if the raven-black hair was anything to go by, then she was probably wanting the same thing.

not all over herself, just on the tail
I need a bit of help finding a story.
The parts I recall was anon visiting Octavia one day cause friends, And she wanted to teach anon how to play cello, and anon in perfect sitting position outta nowhere, played very well without really playing beforehand. To here amazement.
And later on, he wanted to give her a gift for helping him out, and it was also her birthday, so he went to get new strings, and around leaving, they bumped into eachother.
Anyone know his one?
>>28800418

>>28800271
>comparing real life to mlp
>when bathrooms exist.
>>28801561
Sounds familiar anon, I'll see if I can find it.
>>28797076
>"Oh why of course." She responded taking a pre-cut bundle from the pouch on her cello case.
> Just like the ones before, they were indeed the same color as her mane.
> Taking the hair you gently tie a knot at one end before aligning it across the frog plug.
> With Everything as straight as its ever going to be.
> You place the pearl slide back on, making sure it’s perfectly centered on the frog.
> Looking at the 'spread wedge' at the end of the frog you move the hair over it before snapping the ferrule back on above it.
> The end product was perfect; you would settle for nothing less of course.
> With the frog part of the bow all done, you place it down on the counter and move over to the head.
> God you're starting to hate bows now.
> "Where do you get all these instruments from? Do you import them from Canterlot?" The mare asked looking around the shop.
> Gently removing the head plate on the bow you look up at the mare.
"I don't buy them, I make them."
> Oh how you were wanting to say that sentence for so long.
> Fucking fiddlesticks never had any interest in your work.
> All she cared about was getting her bow repaired.
> "Well you should be proud of yourself, these are actually half-decent."
> Actually half-decent
> Half…
> Decent…
> You really wanted to just snap the bow in half right then and there.
> After which you would proceed to give her back half of the bow.
> Responding of course with "is this decent enough for you."
>>28802436
> Instead, being beta as fuck you just give her a small smile as you take out the ‘hair block’ beneath the face of the bow.
> The previous black hair falls out with ease, enabling you to place the new hair in its seat.
> Reassembling the pieces back together at a speed Paganini would be proud of, you place the bow on the counter.
> A satisfied smile etching its way onto your face.
"Your bow is done."
> The mare turns around after looking over one of your guitars on the wall.
> "Ah I see that what I heard about you is true. A true master at his craft."
> You couldn’t really decipher if she was complimenting you, or just claiming that you're only good at repairing bows.
> "So what do I owe you?" She asks pulling out her bit bag.
> 'An apology' your mind states.
"2 bits."
> Your mouth rebels.
> She hoofs over the required number of bits.
> "My apologies I have yet to introduce myself" The gray mare states.
> Wasn't really the apology you were looking for but you'll take what you can.
> "I'm Octavia Melody, and you are?" She asks holding out her hoof.
"I'm Anonymous, but all my friends just call me Anon"
> 'and what friends would that be?'
> Shut up brain.
> Reaching out you shake Octavia’s hoof.
>>28802452
> "It was a pleasure meeting you Anonymous, but I really must be going."
"Pleasure was all mine, Ms. Octavia, come back anytime."
> Once she left you took a seat on a nearby stool.
> Before you could even think, the bell to your store chimes once more.
> Two in one day? is this a new record?
> Looking up towards the door you come to see Fiddlesticks in all her glory.
> She has her usual happy-go-lucky smile on her face.
> "Hey Anon, got my bow ready yet?" She asks walking up to the counter.
> Shit, you totally forgot you had to fix Fiddlesticks bow first.
> Not only that, but you managed to snap the bundle of hair she gave you.
> Letting out a sheepish smile your hand scratches the back of your head.
"Heh heh, about that."
> Fiddlesticks cocks her head to the side.
"I kinda broke the strings you gave me."
> "Oh is that all, here." is all fiddlesticks states before yanking a few hairs from her tail out.
> You visibly cringed at the sight of it.
> Fiddlesticks, however, seems to be unfazed.
> 'What kind of demon are you.' You say to yourself in mock horror.
> Taking the hairs you slowly retreat to the back of the shop.
> Only to come back out moments later with her fixed bow.
>>28802466
> The conversation between you and Fiddlesticks goes as usual.
> Which isn't saying much, because usual for her is talking non-stop about her next performance
> One of which was tomorrow.
> "You want to come and watch me play?" Fiddlesticks asks.
"Yeah sure."
> You only agree to these things because she gets you on an unlimited tab at the drunken mare.
> "Awesome! I know you’re going to love it!" She states happily as she leaves your store
> With her bow…
> Without paying...
"Fuck she did it again!"
> Running over to the front door yields you nothing as Fiddlesticks is already long gone.
> A large sigh escapes your lips as you look up at the clock hanging on the wall.
> 7:30pm.
> Seeing no harm in closing a bit early, you flip the open sign to closed and walk to the back of the shop.
> Entering your workshop you take a seat by your latest project
> As of right now it looked like a mess of wood shavings and pencil marks.
