Alright, after checking it out all I can say is that it looks solid.
Story actually does make sense.

It always seemed weird to me how SMB2 was different from SMB1, I didn't like it, it feel weird and out of place.
After I learned that it actually was not SMB2 but DDP, it all made sense.

Anyway, the fact its all ponies in a dream is an easy and reliable explanation.
The fact they turn to little fillies when on one health is super cute.
Im actually feeling compelled to play this game now.

Only thing I have a problem with is how they decided to make crouching sprite, it looks kinda weird.

I think the crouching sprite might just be a limitation of how the original game handles it. It looks like 4 tiles make up the sprite, two of them just flipped versions of the others. You can't really do much about that besides rewriting that part of the code. Mario 1's sprites did a similar thing.
