Honestly I feel like it would be way cooler if Starlight didn't become an alicorn and became sort of the second coming of Starswirl the Bearded. Would be neat to see her further pursue magic as Twilight has sort of stagnated a bit as she's often too busy doing princess shit to train her magic. Her becoming Twilight's Royal Magician would be an interesting way of remaining relevant and having a completed story arc while doing something unexpected and different. (And they can give her some dumb costume so they can sell toys for it)

I feel like I should stop watching. I said after the season 4 finale they had set themselves up to carry the show to at least season 6.

That has come and gone and I don't think season 6's ending has left me with a sense they've left themselves a good point of growth to build on in season 7.
