The thing that's weird about how sharing solves their hunger is that they don't get hungry when they give away their love to other changelings. Their supply suddenly becomes infinite, seemingly.

The whole reform thing should not have happened in the first place, ot should've and the outcome shouldn't have eeen so stupidly coloured.
It looks like a bootleg of the original now, I get the butterfly feel, but it seriosuly lacks any sense or notion, like if some six year old autistic child drew the entire desing.

Thorax was a special snowflake, also, the name quite frankly strikes me. Thorax? Seriously? Throax is the latin word for chest, (English too apparently, according to google, Foreing, my aplogies.)
Not only that, but we have a canonical window for shitty OCs, which'll use canonical looks.


The entire thing shoun't have happened. It won't be the same, bros, it's another stupid change, just like with Diamond Tiara.

The next thing we'll get is an episode where the Queen gets burnt at a stake or some shit.

I had a certainity that they won't do anything to the bugs as they seemed like a perfect evil to me (i.e, the polar opposite of the ponies, both in ways and shape. Sorta like a wolf to a goat.)

It feels horrible to have that taken.

A reform was pretty much expected. It's the show's standard treatment of villains now.
But holy fuck, this...

Not only did they turn good and enter a friendly relationship with the ponies, but they even LOOK different too. Radically.
The changelings as we know them are gone.

Chrysalis remains, but I can't see her lasting. She's either going to get reformed too or be eliminated in some way.

It's all pretty horrifying.

I'm honestly happy I wasn't the only one really upset by all this. I absolutely love changelings and the entire concept that they could be creepy and still be a part of a functioning society. A lot of learning could be said about 'yea, they look weird and different from us but that doesn't mean they're bad' sort of shit. Now we have cuddlings instead. I really hate it guys. I really do.

I'm on the same boat. Still, I am not going to be angry at the creators, it was their choice but I still dislike their choice personally. I much would've preferred it if changelings didn't have to change to "Fit in" by becoming "Cuter" and not needing to feed. Instead, they AND ponies would have to learn to overcome their differences and evolve their relationship as parasite and host into a symbiotic one.

But it's a kids show so that might be too hard to both get the approval from the higherups from and make it appealing to kids. We can still write our own stories and have our own ideas on how changelings can be like and co-exist with the people that like the new bugs.

At least the new bugs do remain insectlike and I understand it makes it easier to make changelings more visually unique but I will always prefer the old changelings.

So I finally watched the finale in HD. Putting the whole new appearance of the reformed Changelings aside, the depiction of the nest was pretty damn cool. But it looked like all the Changelings except Chrysalis reformed and transformed. So I guess she's a rogue queen now?

I don't think I'd hate the changelings new form so much if they just messed up visually but they also fucked up the concept.

It's way too damn easy for them to solve their hunger problem and they've effectively castrated them. Their shape-shifting abilities have been completely obliterated story wise as the concept of them needing to hide to feed has made the changelings completely retarded. Them sharing love completely nullifies this conflict and the fact no changeling ever thought of this makes the whole race a bunch of brain dead idiots. They never ever needed to hide and they don't even have to interactions within the other races since apparently them sharing love solves their problems so effortlessly. Hell they don't even need to understand it because besides Thorax those changelings at the end sure as hell didn't understand it.

Also why the hell are the ponies accepting of the new changelings? They sure as hell didn't look like they gave a shit about them and seemed to delight in the fact they could forcibly drain and feed of love from the ponies. Why the fuck is everyone in Equestria so goddamned morally blind? Did they just all and forget that they had no hesitation of feeding off them?

The episode also tries to to paint Chrysalis as completely in the wrong here but the other changelings were acting just like her so what the actual fuck? I think they made Chrysalis more sympathetic than the actual reformed changelings. Chrysalis was probably the only thing good to come out of this.

Then they failed horribly. At the end I felt more for Chrysalis then the actual changelings. It might have to do with the fact that she had a more realistic reaction then the rest of the characters besides probably Starlight.

It's certainly alot better than how they're trying to portray the nu changelings as beings who were desperate and would be good without Chrysalis. Because for a desperate race that would be good without Chrysalis they sure as hell didn't look desperate.

Maybe the reason the changelings were so quick to turn their backs on Chrysalis had to do with Thorax taking control of the hivemind in some way during his transformation. He likely didn't do it consciously, but he reshaped the entire hives mindset to agree with him.

Thorax was shown to be different from his peers. It's part of a trend these past seasons to base episodes off of one-shot side characters which feel like OCs the writers made up (which I don't entirely mind, it's made a lot of good episodes lately).

Thorax being a special snowflake changeling is okay in my book, but it doesn't explain or excuse the bullshit transformation/redemption the drones underwent. The episode should have ended with Thorax starting to teach his fellow changelings about how being honest and making friends could give them a better life. It should NOT have had him unleash some Mary Sue flash-of-light transformation that somehow instantly transforms all of the other drones as well.

I meant more in terms of morals accomplishment than anything else. The only reason it deemed to be established was to give the changelings not so perfection abilities to transform and to just make them sympathetic and to hammer home that Chrysalis is unsympathetic which just completely failed. The eternal hunger had zero purpose otherwise.
