So, are laptops, and game consoles, and most phones. Minus the ram and HDD, people still buy them.

iOS and Mac Advisor here. Apple computers (including iPhones etc) are just as vulnerable to viruses and malware as any computer. Windows is the most popular OS, so naturally its users are the most targeted by criminals/hackers/identity thieves. Macs used to have a reputation for being virus free for the same reason that they had a reputation for not having any software - they were so niche and unpopular that nobody bothered coding malicious software that was compatible with them. Why put all the effort into making a virus if no one is going to download it? The iPhone effect made Macs surge in popularity by association, and now macs with viruses, etc on them is one of the most common things I get calls about.
