There will be other things to love to focus on in your life. Eventually you stop focusing on THE ONE and a new one comes along (not to take its place, rather comes along and takes the focus for a while). Falling out of love with a fictional character is harder than an IRL love because of the inability to change, your fictional love is much harder to attach flaws to one who lives in a life detached from yours.

I had an anime crush right after H.S. during an especially bad cold, I also hallucinated conversations. Got into a relationship, and had a kid, and the old waifu is not gone, just faded from focus.
