Gameplay that is very unforgiving, but at the same time very rewarding.
Getting into the setting is not required, but for many, including yours truly, the best part of the series.
I'd recommend doing your first run without a walkthrough (looking up the fundamentals of stats, weapon ugrading etc. is okay).

First, don't worry about dying. It's going to happen at some point, and if that death upsets you/distracts you, you'll just die more.

Second, play how ever you want. The game can be beaten with basically every weapon in the game.

Third, gear before lvls. While states make it harder to kill you, making your weapon stronger kills things faster before you can get hit in the first place, upgrading your shield will allow you to block more before breaking your guard. The only gear that really doesn't need to be upgraded is armor, (and if you're playing three, this isn't a problem) As you can find better armors as you progress. But fuck that and fashion it up, look fabulous/sexy/badass/thicc as you stab a big ass sword through your enemies stomach.

Just go with the "ponies in situations with mimics" with a leaning towards comedy/horror.

I've seen some of the concept art for a ladder mimic or bonfire mimic so it might be interesting to see some of those.

I miss the good ol days when Souls games weren't shit.

If anyone is interested, I could try (atrocious mobile internet speed) to post ingame textures and test out modded ones. For example we can have Solaire looking at a ghostly image of Celestia's flank instead of the sun.
I made a Beatrice-Trixie reskin once but I lost it.

Is she undead as well, or am I trying to protect her as well as progress?
If she'd undead she's probably just a hassle to deal with, a few deaths in and she'll probably lose her cocky attitude.

If she can learn Aural Decoy then we're fucking aces though for DS1 at least, just have her spam it to get by a lot of the tough areas and I can usually handle bosses.

If she's NOT undead and I'm trying to keep her alive for whatever reasons probably cuddles things get a lot harder.

I'd pretty much have to hope that seeing me die over and over again changes something in her to keep her passive and behind me.
