No, you're wrong. Quibble Pants and Rainbow Dash were both right, people like different things in shows, the moral was that there isn't a "wrong" thing to like. You can be like Quibble and like only the old stuff, or be like Dash and like more the new stuff, and neither of them is righter than the other.

So essentially it was an excuse to say "we know the show isn't the same anymore, but we don't have to care about doing it right because some people still like it, so if you don't, go watch some old episodes".

Absolutely. But I liked it anyway. The episode could've been literally what the OP said, "you're wrong, the show is great, fuck off". But at least they said "you're not wrong, we're not doing anything you'll like ever again, but that doesn't mean that you're wrong". I almost felt understood.

The issue isn't about people having different opinions, the writers just hamfisted that in to sidestep the issue. Quibble's gripe was that the quality of the books had decreased whereas Rainbow Dash's was that they were as good as ever. Let's see what we know about both ponies, however:

Quibble
>Arrogant
>Knowledgeable
>Intelligent (Able to solve the door puzzle that Daring Doo couldn't)

Rainbow Dash
>Arrogant
>Fiercely loyal
>Not dumb, but not intellectual either.

Not only does Quibble displays an in depth knowledge of the books but he also demonstrates the intellectual capacity to lend weight to his claims. Whilst Dash also exhibits an in depth knowledge of the books her argument is propped up solely out of love for the series and, being the element of loyalty it's no wonder she'd be reluctant to admit to any flaws in something she likes. Lastly, we can ascertain that Dash isn't exactly a good judge of literature quality since we've seen no example of her reading anything besides the Daring Doo books.

This whole episode was just Quibble - standing in for any fan of something saying "I love the books/series but it isn't as good any more, let me explain how because of X reasons" and Rainbow Dash and the writers (as any franchises writers so often do in the face of criticism) ignoring and invalidating this by saying "DUDE THAT'S JUST YOUR OPINION LMAO"

Why is this something negative? I mean, sure, you think that Quibble and Dash's opinions aren't really equivalent, I think it too.

But if your point is, Quibble's opinion should've been the right one because he was smarter, remember that it was the writers who decided to make him smarter. Quibble could've been a complete retard in the episode. Fuck, the writers could've decided that Quibble was "wrong" and make him change his mind during the episode. But, instead, they made Quibble the smart guy.

I mean, at this point the writers know that they've lost us, the Quibbles of the fandom. We won't change our mind (certainly this episode didn't make me like this season any more), so pretty much anything they could've done was pointless. And still, they gave us a final good-bye episode. An episode to tell us "you're not wrong" (and, even if we already knew that we aren't wrong, it was good for me to hear it), an episode where "we" are the smart guy, an episode to tell all the Dashes in the fandom "you like this show, that's great, we love you, but, did you see those faggots over there? they aren't wrong when they say that anything past season 3 is canon".

It won't change anything, and it was the lowest form of pandering, sure. But I didn't expect something like this, so I really appreciated it.

Man, this is actually a really nice sentiment. Let's be honest, for us Quibbles, there's no way to "fix" the show at this point - I think most of us realize this - and its sort of comforting to see they know and acknowledge this as well.
