An hour later, Celestia had managed to convince the dragons to give the kirins their land back in exchange for a shipment of their finest gemstones. Poor Rosevine had managed to endure this far, but it was clear she was reaching her limit as sweat poured off her body. Still, despite it and her twitching flank, she kept her legs cross in an attempt to delay the inevitable. Things should have come to a close already, except-
“What do you mean you won’t give us more financial support!?” The griffon yelled from his end of the table.
“Ironfeather, we’ve been over this already. We gave you the annual limit of gold last month.”
“That’s not good enough!”
“ENOUGH”, everyone turned to see Rosevine, all of her sense of diplomacy drained
“We have given you enough gold to support a small village for a decade, and you managed to squander it in a month!” she was leaning over the table now, staring down the feathered diplomat
“You’ve abused the kindness of others! You want more!? You don’t deserve a single coin!”
Celestia at this point was trained on diplomat Ironfeather, trying to predict his reaction. He just sat there for a minute, beak agape before fluffing up his feathers.
“This isn’t over!” and with that, he stormed out. The dragon and kirin diplomats looked around for a moment.
“I supposed this meeting is over”, the Kirin said as he stood up and dismissed himself with the dragon not being too far behind.
Luna looked around, and simply shrugged to her sister
“Well that could have gone worse. You should come to these meetings more often, Rose…Rose?”
Looking up, Luna pointed Celesita to the archway leading to the garden surrounding the atrium. Looking out she spotted Rose, clinging to a tree, her body heaving as it tried to finish its prolonged labor. Already there was a pair of legs peeking through her folds. Celestia was at her side in an instant.

"Just breath, let your body take over” she said as she stroked Rosevine’s back. And take over it did, in a few short heaves, her progress went from the start of legs, to half an alicorn foal hanging out. Oh so gently, Celestia helped ease the foal out before cleaning it off.
“Congratulations, it’s a boy!”
Panting, Rose looked over at her newborn son.
“He’s..He’s beautiful”, she winced as her contractions kicked up again
“You may, uh, want to put him over beside me for now. I don’t think I’m done yet…”
They both looked at her middle, which was still noticeably distended.
“I can help!” Luna declared, having observed the entire scene from behind Celestia unnoticed.
Carefully, she laid down and scooped the small foal under her wing “carry on!”
A minute later, the contractions picked up again and Rose and back delivering the rest of her children.

“Am I almost done?” she panted. Celestia carefully felt the underside of Rose’s belly. The skin was nowhere near as taunt as it was, but she could feel something solid still.
“Almost, you’ve got one more” she hoped at least.
Rosevine mustered the last of her energy and began to bear down on the remaining foal. Muscles clenched, her womb went taunt, and the final foal slid out into the world. Rosevine finally released the tree and lowred herself onto the ground As Celestia finished cleaning the foal, she paled.
It wasn’t moving.
“oh no” she whispered. They had took too long
“Sister?”
Rose tried to crane her neck around but was too tired
“Wha-? What’s wrong?”
“Come on, come on…” Celestia mumbled as she started carefully stroked the side of the filly, trying to get it to take a breath. After what felt like an eternity, the filly suddenly twitched and coughed and started to cry. Celestia finally stopped holding her breath.
“Congratulations, Rose. You’re the mother of four beautiful foals.” Carefully, she and Luna telekinetically carried the children to their mother who finally let them nurse.
“So, how did the meeting go?”
“Well, we may have sparked a war with the Griffons” Rose winced for a second “But otherwise I’d say it was a good run”
“I think, from now on I’ll leave the diplomacy to you”
“To be fair, you said to Ironfeather what was on my mind”
“Thank you, Celestia”
“No, it was all you”
And with that, Rosevine rested her head on the tree for a brief nap.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself, you managed to get through a diplomatic meeting AND a birth all in one day. Now you just gotta deliver your own” she said rubbing the side of her sister’s belly
Celestia scrunched her face “Don’t remind me”
Now I just gotta finish that Celestia fic and my backlog will be done
