I was a counselor at a camp for ages 14-18 when I was 20. Something about the environment of camp gets people frisky, and it wouldn't be wrong necessarily.

When I was 17, I was a "leader in training" with 3 other 17 year olds. 2 guys and a girl. We had to help watch over the 15 and under kids. I'm not very attractive, slightly overweight and I don't do anything special with my appearance to try and attract girls but for some odd reason, the girl LiT was all over me. From day 1 she was getting much closer than anyone else did and she forces physical contact. I was really surprised especially since one of the guy LiTs was hella hot. I thought she'd go for him. Eventually the camp counselors and the younger kids noticed. She got way too into her personal life way too fast and I swear, if it wasn't for the rule that all kids had to be near a counselor at all times, she would have tried to get physical with me.
So maybe there is something to that theory about camp making kids frisky.

In the USA, its usually only rich white kids who get to go. My dad found a deal that year that let me go for only 75$. It was normally 1750$. Summer camp is quite expensive here.
There was the main guy who owned the camp and under him were about 5-6 counselors aged 18-24 usually. How they had it set up in the movie wasn't too weird seeing how it was summer after senior year for many like Sunset so there was probably a few that were 18. But Camp Everfree seemed to lack supervision in certain areas, like letting 2 kids sail a boat by themselves. That wouldn't happen in the USA. Too much of a liability.
And all summer camps in the USA are privately owned.

Hasbro just started to penetrate the show here this year with the official airings and occasional toys fair in malls, but it mostly hit the intended audience so I dont see think any brony renaissance is happening here soon. If theres any older fans, they must have known the show from the 'net from way back. Checking on facebook once and I stumble upon a national fanclub with sizable members, but it was clearly dwindling.
I think everyone here that is familiar with mlp known it from the craze in the west from the early years of the fandom. Most of my internet culture savvy friends knows about the show, but probably only watch one or two episode to check thigns out. A senpai of mine like to give short commentaries on FB, but he was so casual about it, its okay.

Honestly i think its just the fact that you are older.
I was an after school program leader for a few years and there were girls that would often get close trying to hug and lean on me.
There were always tons of people around so they would never do anything further.
There was even one time when I moved to a new school and after my first day there I got a call from a girl from my house phone asking if "Mr Anon" lived here.
That was pretty terrifying but luckily its the farthest any of them have gone.
