I especially like the wall runs. Oh and contrary to appearances flying is actually pretty hard... I spent most of the time on the ground when I tried it. Really satisfying when you do achieve liftoff though.

Was working on a Pokemon Go-ish game with ponies, but no-one seemed interested here (mainly being "fuck going outside").
So the MLP part go scrapped and I'm going to release it as a "normal" game.

Actually it was Rainbow Dash at first, but the developer had to change her into non-mlp character for the sake of not getting hit by Hasbro.

More or less, unless your game has very "flavorful" mechanics that wouldn't make sense in any other settings. Thankfully MLP is very vague about how stuff work in this world, so outside of "add cute pone" there isn't much game design commitment required.

I was expecting the lack of enthusiasm anyway : PoGo would have been barely a tenth of it's current success if it wasn't carried by the Pokemon brand AND if it didn't fit the franchise's spirit so well. The game concept by itself is a deterrent (going outside, and not just by opening the window), so limiting it to a franchise that is literally hated outside of it's own fandom was a risky bet.

MLP's fandom not being interested actually make things simpler. And since we are still very early in development, we didn't had to scrap anything outside of ideas and concepts.

If you are going to make something like this then I wouldn't really copy the Pokemon Go mechanics anyway (the catching them with Pokeballs). It doesn't really fit the Series and would be better to come up with something else, like: You found a Pony and need to do certain actions (like petting, playing ball, etc) with it to form a bond of friendship. If you win it becomes your friend and travels with you, if you lose it will flee. Kinda like PokeGo, but with the Pokeballs replaced with something more fitting for Pony.

Just an idea, not sure how much sense this makes.

That's actually what I'm going with.

A bit less monotone, and allow for more interesting challenges than just "throw more balls at it and hope it doesn't randomly flee".

I also intend for "recruitment encounters" to be much rarer than in PoGo, but with every recruit actually usable. I don't like the PoGo system of "keep only the stronger one, send all the others into the candy-grinder".

I honestly don't use anything but long war but I love playing X com with the understanding that I am the changeling hive faction, from before the stardust project universe turned to shit. it is our mission to acquire alien and earth technology, and save the world, regardless if negotiations with the ponies broke down. 90 elite soldiers and enough gear from all of them, and some landfalls after a failed strike mission giving us access to basic if outdated human technology. Advent represents covert Xcom operations trying to weed out the changelings. The changelings must send infiltration parties to each area of interest and secure additional love needed to power their new war machine. They start with a lot of advantages, partially for theming and partially because I'm a scrub. A firestorm called owl wise, Operated by the queen to account for its strength, and a powerful msg medic named Queen Chrysalis. Neither of these units are allowed to perish or the efforts of the changelings mission will fail catastrophically. Changelings do not have the technology to construct mechs, the closest thing they have is Chrysalis, who has 9 natural HP and extra conditioning, and the one for all perk.

and because I love this kind of spaghetti, Chrysalis is Twilight's mom, and her unwitting status as a daughter that chrysalis chose to allow her to remain as she is is threatened by the magical power needed to activate the ethereal device. Either she or chrysalis must activate it. in the final confrontation on the temple ship, just as twilight is being filled with encouragement from her friends, and injured bugmom steals away her love though the hive link. Helpless, Chrysalis orders all of the remaining squad to escort her daughter Amaryllis back to the hive. Filled with the love and elements of harmony's power, Chrysalis will have to face the final enemy on her lonesome.

oh, I forgot to mention this in there, another rule (and reason to start with 90 soldiers) is that you only ever get 90. you can never hire new rookies, If you run out of a class of units, that class has perished. It also slows down their XP track greatly. Changelings are not only a race of predators that must rely on sophisticated emotions to survive, but they are also not a prolific race as humans are, no 7 billion to their name. caught in the grips of a pre industrial population, the number of units afforded to you are all you have. The purloined human scientists where absolutely baffled and horrified to learn that fact. If you look at some of the losses in the stardust fic, that number should be concerning.

I'm a big fan of collecting and archiving so I understand. I hate it when things suddenly disappear online. When I release the game (which admittedly is going to take some time) I'll release a zip of all the content I've put out (previews, songs, etc) for people to download in one file if anyone expresses interest. I do try and archive a website snapshot whenever I archive a game/project. It's just that it's more easy with static sites than with Twitter which uses a lot of scripts and whatever.

Oh for sure. I'll definitely do that worst-case scenario. I'm keeping tight lipped on purpose since Chronicles is mainly a story driven game and pretty much anything I can show right now would ruin it in my view.

Forest 2 - you're in danger, lost in the depths of the wild Everfree, miles from any civilization, with unknown evil lurking behind every tree

The engine is done, with the exception of some minor features which will be added when the game is done.

The art, UI, programming, and music are/will be all original.

The UI and most of the programming is done.

The plot is mostly finished. Just need it flesh it out in the form of gameplay text.

The art... well so for I've only got one CG done.

The music hasn't even been started yet as I lost most of my instruments in storage...
So I gotta buy some new ones... All I have left if an acoustic guitar and a viola( which, ironically, is also in storage right now in Colorado... )

Not that guy but I don't like doing that because, even when it's good music, people can instantly recognise a Kevin McLeod tune (due to their popularity and usage).
Also, I know a guy who does royalty-free music and, fairly recently, he celebrated that he's going to start getting royalties on some of his tunes and he awaits his fat cheque of unpaid royalties.
In other words (I'm likely misinterpreting the whole thing), people are gonna start coughing up royalties for what they thought was a one-off payment.
