Gist: it's okay. Nothing too spectacular. The most we get is seeing Sunset's and Scilight's personalities set against one another, which allows us to get a slightly better picture of them, and as a Shimmerfag, I find that to be a nice thing.

Going further, the structure has some weak points. Actual spoilers.
We only see Filthy Rich like three brief times, so he's not a strong antagonist, which doesn't give a lot of reason for the audience to be invested in Gloriosa's desire to keep the camp, and her decision to use magic to protect it. Also, they try to throw Timber as a red herring saying he's causing all the weird shit to make camp unappealing, so it can be sold to FR and he can live a normal life in the suburbs, but because we already saw Gaia in commercials, and the fact that they don't really flesh out his motivations, or see Sunset doing more sleuthing, it goes by really quick. Finally, the escalation to the climax is really quick. They find out Gloriosa is causing weird shit, and then she immediately becomes Gaia

Summation, they tried to pack a lot into the movie, and all the elements start to cut into each other, ultimately making the whole thing feel a bit hollow, and would have served best if it had been 15-20 minutes longer. Other than that, it was pretty good.

It's a made-for-tv movie series. They talk like it's good shit but it's really underwhelming. Don't bother, you'll be happier for it. This new one was no exception. Yet again another half-baked piece of shit. I bet they'll still watch the fifth one and slurp it up like the good boys they are.

It was a set up for the Equestria Girls TV series that I am currently calling will be announced soon.

I predict an action focused magical girl series based on the plot elements and themes set up in this movie.

I'm predicting this right now because anyone who watches this movie should be able to tell that they are obviously setting up for a TV series. It's really, really obvious if you actually pay attention to how everything is framed in the movie.
