Because they sell more than Transformers consistently. It's something that has to be baffling to them, but it's not something that they're complaining about. They can get the cheap hacks, and fans of it are so dumb that they'll buy a ton of it, way more than stuff made by the expensive artists on other franchises.

The only thing MLP has that even comes close to that is Price, and even he is a few notches down from it.

Funny that you mention Hasbro demanding things from IDW. Guardians of Harmony comics were supposed to come out this year, but all of the crossovers that IDW is doing probably delayed them because they didn't want competition.

I'd be pretty pissed if I were Hasbro considering that GoH is a more immediate thing that they need to get out there versus this mini series of a crossover.

That's precisely the reason; why spend more on it if it sells more? If they gave the TF comic our artists/writers a significant amount of buyers would drop it, this is obviously not the case with MLP.

Fosgitt has a cute style. It is not a pony style, but it is cute and expressive, and whoever is editor in chief of the line thinks that's good enough.
