You do realize that, Lauren didn't even want them to look how they do in G4 and that it was Hasbro's choice right? She wanted them to look more like real horses, Hasbro were the ones who forced the cutesy g4 design

Wrong. Lauren designed the poners the way they are now except with more body types. Fat, short, tall, skinny, almost as varied as the new ponies we see in the current seasons. Hasbrah initially said no because it would mean more money spent on animation. THAT's the part Lauren didn't like.

I know there was an entire list of pilot designs for G4. Hasbro or Lauren held some sort of design competition and there were all sorts of designs inspired from all over the place.
