Small element. Notice how over the entire show the Deer (still non intelligent in show), Crystal Siege arc, Chrysalis's other appearences, the apples have never gotten a mention in the first place. Hell Coloratura's episode even mentioned the Partypalooza by name (one of the books).

At this point the comics just seem like a flat out AU. Not to mention how they're lagging behind with Starlight and Flurry being non existant.
