Cheerilee/BigMac kind of died as platonic after Hearthbreaker episode with little chances to get explored unless they ignore that episode.

I can see Stalright and Sunburst growing closer as well as Discord and Fluttershy especially since Discord pretty much flirts with her asking for dates with just two of them together. The question rather lies whether it's treated as fanservice joke like Sparity or actual plot element explored thorughout multiply seasons with one conclusion like CMC looking for their cutie marks.

Yeah, everyone expected Ash/Misty to become official ship but it went nowhere even after their adventures together. On the other hand Katara and Aang had similar scenario and they got married. It really depend on whether the series is focused as medium to sell toys (Pokemon) or focused on story (Avatar TLA). In case of MLP it's a mix between them. Seasons act like toy commercials, but character still evolve and advance toward different goals. Twilight is no longer a student, but a teacher and an aunt. A timeskip in the series could portray some of the mane6 to be in relationship with other characters.

I find it a better than Sparity. What always bothered me with Sparity was
1. Spike is a kid and can't be in relationship since he isn't mature enough for responsiblities that comes with having a GF
2. Rarity doesn't share same amount of respect toward Spike as she shares over her.
3. Spike adoration is based on physical attraction and not emotional bond

In case of FlutterCord, all of these points are discarded. The only thing isn't quite right is Discord not being mature enough to become supportive toward Fluttershy and her friends and mostly caring about his selfish needs.
