Summary for all you tl;dr people.

>We are the recently crowned King of Maredite, our name King Shamrock though "King Clover" is apparently used occasionally along with our wife the Queen Astral Glow.
>There is a cult about seeking to resurrect an ancient evil and apparently their spies are amongst the castle staff.
>At the current moment the most suspected person to be this spy is a new maid named Mimosa Pudica who seems to always be strangely nervous and clumsy.
>At the current moment of our quest we are speaking to the court wizard Magicae the Magical to discuss how to handle these suspicions.

The quest will resume in the next post.

I think I summarized that better than I thought I would.
>>
>>28379501
"Have a few of the investigators go undercover as some of the servants as well, see if they can weed anything out." you tell him.
>"I already have, I'll report to you with anything you need to hear." Magicae responds.
"Good, I'm counting on your vigilance Magicae." you say to him.
>"And I am counting on your judgement as King." Magicae responds.
>You exit the library.
>Now all there was to do, was wait.
>What else could you do?
>And so you lie in wait, awaiting any new information on Mimosa.
>All the while this is all going on without Astral glow's knowledge.
>Several days go by with no word.
>You begin to wonder if you were mistaken the whole time, perhaps Mimosa was not the spy after all...

>But then one day something finally comes up and Magicae summons you to the library immediately.
"What is it Magicae? What happened?" you ask him.
>"I believe our doubts have been destroyed your highness. We have some new evidence." Magicae tells you.
"What kind of evidence? What did she do?" you ask him
>"We found out how she does her little disappearing acts." he says.
>"One of OUR spies accidentally bumped a hidden button disguised as a wall panel that opened a passageway." he tells you.
"A passage?" you say questioningly.
>"Indeed, remnants of the old castle layout of old. Leads to the ancient dungeons. We believe she goes to hide under the castle." he states to you.
"Well, this is good to hear I guess." you respond
>"Now, as you are the King. I will ask you before I take any action. How do you think we should proceed your highness? You are the king after all." he says.

>What do we do?
>>
>>28384148
This is alot of responsibility to be thrust upon a previous clover merchant. Have a slight moment of nervousness before deciding that the passage be monitored. If we don't catch anypony using it within the next one or two days we send a in a raid. Sound good Magicae?
>>
>>28384326
>You have a slight moment of nervousness.
>This is alot of responsibility to be thrust upon you and only a few months ago you were selling clovers before Astral chose to wed you.
"K-keep an eye on it. If you don't see anypony using it after a few days then send in a raid." you tell him.
>"As you wish, your highness." Magicae replies.
>And so it was done.
>Eyes were secretly kept on the passage and they even found a few other ones in other locations.
>Even more entrances to watch.
>But we'd manage it.
>So far nothing, until nightfall.
>One spy reports a servant using one of the passages...
>And it isn't Mimosa!
>Maybe you were wrong about her after all.
>Apparently one of the spies attempted to follow them but hasn't reported back since...
>Something has gone wrong.
>Magicae prepares a raid on the passages to see if they can recover the lost servant.
>"So it seems actions must be taken." Magicae states.
>"Are you ready for what we may find your highness?" he asks you.
"I'm ready." you respond.
>"Then we haven't a moment to lose. We'll be back." Magicae states as he disappears into the passage with some guards.
>A few hours pass with no events.
>You begin to wonder if they're alright.
>Eventually they return at fucking dusk with the lost servant.
"What happened in there? Did you find anything?" you ask them.
>"No your highness." Magicae replies.
>"It's a gods damn labyrinth down there." one of the guards states.
"What of you? Did you see anything?" you ask the spy.
>"I tried to follow them but eventually they disappeared. Next thing I knew I was lost, I had no idea where I was, or where I was going." he says.
>"Hm, troubling indeed. It seems they have chosen a most useful lair." Magicae states.
>"Where is the queen anyway?" he asks.
"Don't worry, she's busy dealing with a few disputes. I made sure she'd be busy for this." you assure him.

Continued in next post because text limit.
>>
>>28384716
>"Good." Magicae responds.
"So now what?" you ask
>"I think we need to just sweep the passages, begin recording them. If we don't learn them they will have an advantage over us." Magicae tells you.
"I see." you reply.
>"Once we have them graphed down maybe we can achieve something or maybe even use them to our advantage." He states.
"Alright." you respond.
>"For now we shall continue to observe, as well as chart down these passages. Hopefully once we've gained enough knowledge of them we'll have a chance." Magicae responds.
>"Now let us break this up before the Queen sees." He says.
>The operation is dispersed and everyone returns to their positions.
>This is getting interesting.
>What are they using the passages for?
>Do they lead somewhere we don't know about?
>We'll most likely find out soon.
>More time passes.
>The passages are slowly recorded however it becomes clear they are much larger than previously thought.
>It becomes clear a difficult task as arisen.
>But we are not deterred, we need to find that spy before anything bad happens.
>Eventually though something happens.
>3 servants go missing.
>Nothing is found.
>But we know where they took them.
>You speak with Magicae in the royal library.
"Why though? What's the point?" you ask.
>"Undoubtedly they know we're after them now. They are now attempting to strike fear into our hearts to deter us, but it won't work." Magicae responds.
>"We've almost charter down their labyrinth completely. There are several exit points all around the castle's exterior and even the town and sewer. They've been under our hooves the whole time." he tells you.
"So what will we do?" you ask.
>"The last thing we can do, we will have to sweep the underground." he tells you.
"But, what of the Queen? How can we hide something like that?" you ask.
>"I only said to keep the spy secret, simply tell her we are hunting the cultists." he responds.

Continued in next post cause text limit again.
>>
>>28385074
"And the passages?" you ask.
>"What passages?" he asks you
"I see." you say.
>"It is the only way i'm afraid." he tells you.
>"I shall round up the guard and begin the hunt. Keep an eye on the queen. They may try and take advantage of our forces being focused on the underground." he tells you.
"I will guard the kingdom and the queen with my life!" you respond.
>"But of course. Glad to see you've become a bit braver." Magicae responds.
>Sure you said that on the outside but on the inside you're scared shitless.
>What if they DO attack?
>Fuck, but you know you can't just back out.
"Y-yeah! Brave." you say.
>"Is something the matter your highness?" he asks.
"No, nothing." you respond.
>"You may confide in me if you wish sire. I will not tell a soul." he assures.
"I had another strange dream a few weeks ago." You tell him.
>"Another? Do tell." he asks.
>You then describe the dream of the cave and it's strange runes.
>He doesn't say anything for awhile.
>...
>He finally pipes up "Well, that's interesting. Let me know if you have any other ones. But for now we must begin the sweep." he says trotting out of the library.
>It was time.
>The queen was merely informed that this was a major hunt for the cultists.
>Little did she know this was practically an invasion of the underground to weed them out.
>Many guards descend into the sewers and by transit the secret underground chambers.
>Leaving you with the remainder of the guard to watch the castle itself and the queen.
>You are on high alert but try your best to hide it from the queen.
>Hours pass.
>Suddenly black hooded robe ponies and ponies donning black suits of armor with masks on emerge from several of the hidden passages under the castle.
>HOW DID THEY BREAK THROUGH?!
>The guards begin to fight back attempting to push them back but they push back and eventually gain a foothold in the castle.
>You retreat with the queen and barricade yourselves inside a room.

>>28385526
>HOW DID THEY BREAK THROUGH?!
IT BEGINS
>>
>>28385526
>"They are more numerous than I expected!" she says
>"And how are they getting in? The entrance is still locked!" she asks to nopony in particular.
>You want to tell her the truth but now is really not the time.
>You both sit in the room listening to all the commotion outside.
>You can hear spells being cast, swords being clashed and lots of shouting.
>Eventually it goes quiet...
>...
>Suddenly something begins slamming against the barricaded door.
>This is it.
>You use your magic to try and hold them off as long as you can but eventually they break through.
>Just as you feared it is indeed the enemy.
>They surround you with spears pointed.
>One rises amongst the rest wearing a distinct purple robe in contrast to the others black robes steps forth.
>"Ah, and so it is complete. We have the final piece to the puzzle." he remarks.
>"And who are you to intrude upon my home?" Astral demands.
>"Veneficus, at your service." he responds with a sneer.
>"What do you want with us?" she asks.
>"Us? Oh no no no your highness. There is no "Us" we only need you, the King is only a bonus." he states.
>"So you are the order of Malum." she states angrily.
>"My, my, you ARE an astute one." Veneficus replies mockingly.
>"But, enough with this. This castle is ours! Take them to the dungeon. We will deal with them later." Veneficus states.
>And just like that the black armored ponies escort you down below and lock you in the dungeon.
>On the way you saw all the guard that were slain.
>It was only then you marveled at how numerous they truly were.
>They were more than just some rag tag cult. They were practically an army...
>You then sat in a stone cell behind steel bars pondering just what to do now.
>Your Queen Astral in the neighboring cell across from yours.

To be continued in next post cause text limit again.
>>
>>28385916
Ok dude, five posts without player input is too much. It is now a greentext. I would like to speak with Astral unless the next post is already written.
>>
>>28385916
>Veneficus had placed a curse on both your horns so you could not use magic to escape.
"What are they going to do with us?" you ask Astral worriedly.
>She sighs "You know what they're going to do..." she says solemnly.
"I won't let them!" you declare.
>"Dear, let's not me foolish here..." she responds.
>She was right...what were you doing to do anyway... no magic, no fighting experience.
>If you DID do anything they'd probably cut you down without a second thought.
>Silence follows.
>...
>Well...what do we do now?

>You currently sit in a lone stone cell with a small barred window too high to reach, a plank chained to the wall as an excuse for a bed and a chamber pot in the corner.
>The walls are cracked and weathered but still hold strong.
>Across from your cell is Astral glow in a nearly identical cell.
>Outside is a hall lined with cells that you can't see the end of through the bars.
>>
>>28386001
I can't see anything of use. Check the walls, rattle all the bars, bag the pot against things in an effort to see if anything will give. If that fails which I kinda expect it to press ourself into the bars and look to our wife. Ask her why she married us. Why did she marry a poor and dumb stallion that sold clovers in the market? Why didn't she marry a prince, or a noble, or some warrior? Somepony with wealth or strength? Maybe somebody smart enough to have prevented this or strong enough to have protected her?
>>
>>28386325
>You check the walls.
>Stoney and cracked.
>Nothing unusual here.
>You proceed to rattle the bars with you hooves.
>Nothing unusual here.
>You then proceed to bang the chamber pot around to see if anything gives.
>The chamber pot gets dented.
>Eventually once you've used up all your energy you collapse for a moment.
>...
>You crawl over to the bars intending to speak to your wife in the cell beyond.
>It takes awhile to find the words...but eventually you pipe up.
"Why...why did you marry me?" you ask her.
>"H-huh?"
"Why marry some dumb stallion that sold clovers in the market? Why not a prince, a noble, a warrior? Someone strong to protect you. Why not somebody smart enough to have prevented this to begin with..."
"I just don't get why you chose me."
>"..."
"..."
>"...While I could have just married some random prince from another country, or some noblepony or even a warrior...Would they have really loved me like you?"
>"You were the only one that didn't just want to be with me to be king, or for the wealth or any of those useless things. You wanted to be with me because you loved me and that's all that mattered."
>"I don't care if you're strong, weak, smart or stupid. As long as you loved me, it was all worth it..."
"..."
"Do you really mean that?"
>"Of course!...I just didn't it would end like this..."
"What now?"
>"Now?...we do the only thing we can do. We wait to see what they're going to do next."
>"Maybe if we get lucky Magicae will come to the rescue..."
>MAGICAE it was only just now you remembered he might still be out there.
>Perhaps you could contact-
>Oh right...the curse.
>Well there goes that idea...
>"Dear."
"Hm"
>"Remember what I told you...if...if anything happens, tell Magicae as soon as possible. If they do spill my blood you know what will follow. You'll need it... Plus without me he'll be the only one left who'd know it's location..."
To be continued in next post.
>>
>>28386568
"But i'm not-"
>"I know, you're no warrior. But remember it's no ordinary sword either."
"Are you sure I can?"
>"...Yes. When I look at you, you may see some nervous scaredy king too weak to fight back. But when I look at you, I see a stallion with a heart of gold. All you need is a little confidence."
"But how will I without you by my side?"
>"I shall never truly be gone, I shall always be beside you. Watching you from the other world."
>She was right.
>Even if she did transcend it wouldn't be the same.

>It seems we're in quite a pickle here.
>Is there anything else we'd like to talk about before the story continues?
>>
>>28386635
Transcend? Like... die?
>>
>>28386763
Yes. I'm still choosing a name for that afterlife though.
>>
>>28386763
And now the post where I take that question as an action just incase.

"Transcend?...you don't mean."
>"Do not worry dear...if it comes to it we will always be reunited in afterrealm of Caelum." she assures.
>But...you didn't want her to die.
>And yet she seems all too accepting of it.
>There has to be another way.

Also I decided on that name so that's good.
>>
>>28386844
Ah, ok.

>>28386635
Try not to cry. Cry a lot. No! Please... I would miss you too much. Reach a leg though the bars in an effort to reach her, to touch her, to be with her.
>>
>>28386979
>You try not to cry.
>You cry alot.
"No! Please... I would miss you too much."
>You reach a leg through the bars in an effort to reach her, to touch her, to be with her...

>Nothing happens...

>Silence follows yet again.

>"...I'm afraid it can not be avoided...I, figure I might as well tell you."
"?"
>"Remember, that dream you told me about? The one of the city burning?"
"Yes?"
>"....I saw my own death."
>Your stomach drops at this information.
"Dear...I-I."
>"But then...I had another dream. A dream of you, trotting over the horizon. An army at your back. You are destined for greatness!" she assures you.
>"I won't lie...I will miss you as well, but it is necessary for fate to take it's course." She says.
"What if I defy fate?" you mutter under your breath
>"Excuse me?"
"What if I disregard all that fate stuff and break us both out of here?" you ask.
>"Well, that would be nice. But I don't see it happening..."
"If there's a will, there's a way. I'll think of something." you tell her.
>"If you wish. I suppose it's better than moping about..."

>You had to think of something, perhaps when they came for her you could do something, perhaps trick them?

>What do you do?
>>
>>28387119
we could fight with our wife and then while they hold her we both attack them and then run.
>>
>>28387119
I have no plan.
>>
>>28387451
>we could fight with our wife
That sounds heartbreaking and I don't want to.
>>
>>28387565
Wait is that what he means?
Also we're behind bars so how would that work? Perhaps would could convince one of them to let us out? Hell if I know, maybe trick one into getting close enough to take his keys? I'm just spitballing here.
>>
>>28387565
it's supposed to be a distraction obviously but let's keep thinking
>>
>>28387119
Look for loose rocks and small, throw-able objects within the cell.
>>
>>28387575
>>28387580
Use the pot as a weapon maybe?
>>
yeah, we're boned.
>>
>>28387451
>>28387513
>>28387652
>>28387710
>You elect to pull and loose rocks and use the chamber pot as a weapon.
>It wasn't much but it was something.
>And then you waited.
>Eventually they come one black armor pony arrives with 2 black robed ponies.
>"Are you ready your highness?" the black knight asks smugly
>One of the robed ponies shoots a glance at you before looking away.
>"..." Astral does not respond, she only glances at the floor.
>"So be it then, open her cell!" one robed pony pulls out a keyring and begins to unlock her cell.
>As he is doing this the other robed pony knocks the armored pony out with a swift blow to the head with a mace that was hidden under their robe.
>The hooded pony unlocking the cell immediately hears this and looks at the traitor in confusion.
>"What are you doing?!" he asks angrily.
>The traitor would not respond instead answering him with a swift clonk on the head knocking him out as well.
>The traitor then finishes opening Astral's cell.
>"What? Why did you-" the traitor ignores Astral's words and then comes over to open your cell.
>The iron bar door swing open, you and Astral both step out to meet their rescuer.
"May I ask who I owe this rescue to?" you request
>The cultist then takes their hood off to reveal Mimosa Pudica as your rescuer!
"Mimosa?" you utter questioningly
"I thought that-" you begin before she instead speaks.
>"I just couldn't bear to witness this. I had to do something, especially after I heard you crying..." she states.
"But...why?" you ask her.
>"I was born and raised by these nutcases. It's all I knew, but I knew they were wrong when I was old enough. They tried to use my innocence and naivety to trick me, and I knew it." Mimosa responds.
>"Now is my chance to set things right!" she states.
"I see, I thank you." you tell her.
>"You were raised by those brutes? I can only imagine how awful that was." Astral says

To be continued in next post.
>>
>>28389143
>"Tell me about it, but nows not the time to exchange life stories. We need to make our escape, NOW. Once they learn of my betrayal they'll probably kill all 3 of us." Mimosa says.
>"Shes right, we need to move fast." Astral states.
>"What is the quickest way out of the castle?" Mimosa ask you.
>"I wouldn't try fighting them directly but, if you do choose this I won't say no. Just know i'm not that strong a fighter. And without magic I doubt I could save us." Mimosa adds.

>Well, what do we do?

For the record you're allowed to make shit up on the fly, just as long as it isn't anything outlandish like say.
>You pull the rocket launcher you were hiding up your ass just for this occasion out of your anus.
>>
>>28389187
we better take their robes and some armor and along with their weapon, put them in the cell, then we get out of here quickly.
>>
>>28389187
Use the hidden passages.

>>28389219
Also this, loot them. You'll need all the help you can get.
>>
>>28389219
>>28389235
>You loot their corpses and lock them in the cells just to slow them down as much as you can.
>You put on the commander's armor.
>Underneath their robes they seem to also be wearing armor though not as thick as the commanders.
>Astral dons one of the robbed ponies hidden armor.
>The commander had a long sword, while the other robed pony had a with a mace.
>Which do you take?

Sorry for the small post but I figured you'd rather pick your weapon than me picking it for you.
>>
>>28389330
Mace.
>>
>>28389330
>while the other robed pony had a mace aswell.
>>
>>28389330
I would pick the mace because it's easier to club something then to wield a sword for us. At least I think so.
>>
>>28389350
>>28389355
>You decide with your lack of sword experience it'd be easier to club something than to try and wield a sword properly.
>And so Astral takes the sword into her hoof.
>"I'm used to wielding weapons with my magic but, I suppose I could manage without it." she says.
"Atleast you have some knowledge in the way of the sword." you reply.
>"If we make it out of this alive, maybe I can teach you a little." Astral replies with a giggle.
>"Right, enough joking around we need to move!" Mimosa states.
"Let's use the hidden passages to make a quick escape, you know the way right?" you ask Mimosa.
>"That's not a bad idea, and with all the cultists up here in the castle. The passages should be relatively empty. Follow me." Mimosa states.
>She would then press in a particular stone in the dungeon's wall causing it to open revealing a staircase downward.
>"What is that?" Astral asks confused.
"I have alot of explaining to do." you say.
>"You do?" Astral asks.
"I'll explain later just, lead the way Mimosa." you tell her.
>Mimosa descends first and the two of you follow behind her.
>She leads you down into the depths, the passages are dark and dank.
>After what feels like hours you emerge in the sewers below the castle.
>"How long have those been there?" Astral asks.
>"You didn't know?" Mimosa asks.
>"Then who was ordering guards to patrol them then?" Mimosa adds.
"Like I said, I have alot of explaining to do..." you state.
>Astral looks at you before back at Mimosa.
>"I see..." Mimosa says.
>"Would you rather, or should I?" Mimosa asks.
"I think she'd rather hear it from her husband." you tell her.
>"As you wish." Mimosa responds.
>You then begin trotting through the sewers.
"Where to now?" you ask.
>"I'm getting you out of the city. It's no longer safe!" Mimosa says
>Continued in next post.

Yes i'm introducing a battle system.

everyone attack rat one.

>Every party member attacks Rat 1#

>The rat dies after the first attack not granting the other two the chance to attack.

>>28389646
Oh, now I feel a little bad. But we're on this course and must stick to it. shamrock can attack rat number 2 astral rat 2 and mimosa rat three.
>>
>>28389672
>The King attacks Rat 2#
>It however dies from this attack preventing Astral from attacking it.
>Mimosa dispatches the 3rd rat.

>You are victorious!

Story will resume in the next post.

So yeah, that was easy as piss just to introduce you to the battle system. More serious fights will arise in the future.
>>
>>28389696
Also calling it a "System" is a bit of a stretch but i'm working on it.

>You resume your passage through the sewers.
>"Do you think they'll follow us?" Astral asks.
>"Of course, once they realize we're gone they'll probably sweep the whole city looking for you, and that is why we are leaving." Mimosa responds.
"But where will we go?" you ask her.
>"I honestly don't know..." Mimosa says
"Well, let's worry about that later. Our biggest concern is getting out of the city." You tell her.
>Eventually you find yourselves emerging from a sewer grate just outside the city walls.
>"I didn't know this was here." Astral says.
>"Indeed, a remnant from when the city was much larger." Mimosa states.
"It was bigger than this?" you ask her.
>"Indeed." Mimosa says.
>You climb out to find yourselves amongst the trees.
>"Now we need to get as far away as possible. We can make future plans from wherever we choose to hide." Mimosa says,
>"I know where, the province of Urbs. It should be far enough away that we would be safe there... for a time." Astral says.
>"Then we haven't a moment to lose, let us make our journey." Mimosa states.

>To be continued.
We'll resume in the morning as it is late again and I need sleep. Once again as it is a sunday however I will be able to resume in the morning as opposed to 5 PM. See you guys tomorrow.

>Where is Magicae?
>What is Urbs like?
>Well why not just ask?
"So what is Urbs like?" you ask.
>"Oh, right I forgot. You've never been outside the capitol before, right dear?" Astral asks.
"Yeah, I haven't been outside the walls before." you assure.
>"Urbs is a small farm village near the edge of Maredite. It's a quaint little place." Astral assures you.
"Are you sure it will be safe?" you ask.
>"For a time, like I said. They will hunt for us at every corner of the kingdom. That is why we are going to Urbs first thing, to put as much distance and buy us as much time as possible." Astral says.
"And what of Magicae?" you ask her.
>"Magicae The Magical can handle himself. I wouldn't worry too much. I doubt he is dead, he most likely has went into hiding just like us." she assures.
>Is there anything else you'd like to discuss on the road before we continue?

>Several days and nights pass.
>Occasionally purchasing a some food from traveling merchants to avoid starving to death.
>Eventually you find yourselves at the entrance to the village of Urbs of Urbs province.
>"We're finally here." Mimosa remarks.
>"Indeed, as I said it would be a long journey. Now we should have ample time to plan our next course of action." Astral says.
"You have a plan?" you ask her.
>"We'll talk later, for now we need to find a place to stay." Astral states.
>"An inn should do for now." Mimosa says.
"Do they even have an inn? All I see is farms and a few merchants." you say.
>"They do, infact I see it right now." Astral says pointing a hoof at the inn.
>You enter the inn.
>A stallion is behind the counter running the place.
>You see a door that leads upstairs to the rooms and a small eating area with 4 tables to the side.
>You book a room and head in.
>"Alright, now before we do anything, we need to cover our tracks." Astral says.
>She would then remove her crown as well as any symbols of authority and place them in the inventory bag.
"What are you doing?" you ask her.
>"They're going to be looking for us dear. Hunting us, and so we must hide our identities." She responds.
>"She's right." Mimosa states.
>"It's best if you ditch your royal attire for good." Mimosa states.
>She wasn't wrong, it would probably be best to hide for now.
>Seeing as you were all already wearing stolen clothing the only symbol of authority you possessed was the crown.
>You didn't feel too bad about parting ways with it, you never felt worthy to wear it anyway.
>It's strangely relieving to remove it.
>You place the crown in the bag.
>"Now, we need to gather supporters." Astral says.
>"Undoubtedly this new rule will bring unrest to the people. If we could build a rebellion we would have a chance." Astral assures.

To be continued in next post cause text limit is near.
>>
>>28394044
>"So that's it then? We just mount a rebellion?!" Mimosa asks.
>"I said it would be a chance. I never said it'd be quick or easy." Astral responds.
"What that take months maybe even years?" you ask her.
>"Indeed, but we can start by seeing if we can find any loyalists that survived the initial takeover." Astral states.
>"They most likely fled like us." Astral states.
>"A large majority were most likely captures or killed your highness." Mimosa says.
>"Though a few may have slipped through the cracks." Mimosa adds.
"So, it's settled then. We hunt down any allies we can acquire?" you inquire.
>"Indeed." Astral states.
"..."
"Do you think we'll find Magicae?" you ask Astral.
>"I do not know dear. We can only pray for his safety." Astral says woefully.
>"They'll probably be looking for him as well, although not for the same reason as you, your highness. Remember he's the one other besides yourself that knows the location of the sword. If they find it first-" Mimosa says before being cut off by Astral.
>"That's right! The sword! that's how we do it! We gather support, power up the sword... Why didn't I think of that sooner?" Astral asks while slapping herself for her foolishness.
"Plus if we have it, they won't have it." you say.
>"But where do we start?" Mimosa asks.
>"The sword's current location is not our concern right now. If we are to even reach it, we must first find the 3 keys." Astral states.
"The 3 keys? Where are they?" you ask her.
>"At 3 key points at the kingdom. Focus points if you will." Astral says.
"Focus points?" you ask.
>"I'll explain at another time. But they are at 3 different corners of the kingdom." Astral clarifies.
"Which is the closest?" you ask.
>"One located in an ancient fort in the woods not far from here." she states.
"Then we shall set out immediately-"
>"No, we should rest first. We will begin in the morning." Astral says.
To be continued in next post because text limit.
Don't worry i'll try my best to break the rails.
>>
You should have waited for a response. I would have liked to respond to >>28392937. I'm sure we explained to Astral the whole deal with Magicae, spies, and not letting her know about it.

Sometimes it's best just to wait for players. Also, is Astral an alicorn? Because I think that'd make sense. Royalty and all.
>>
>>28394293
>You are a Unicorn.
>Astral is an Alicorn.
>However you are both under the effects of a curse and so you're magic is useless.
>Mimosa is an earth pony Although I'm not sure if I ever specified or not.
Anyway I posted that around 12 PM, it's 3 PM now, please understand.

>>28394255
>She wasn't wrong, you were all quite weary from the journey and now another was about to begin...
>You needed all the rest you could get.
>Thankfully no strange dreams plague your sleep.
>You awaken in the morning.
>Everyone stretches and yawns before packing their things.
>You proceed downstairs and exit the inn.
>You now stand outside the Inn of Urbs.
>Around you is one shop, the rest of the town seems to be dominated by farms and residential homes.
>This was no market town, this was very much a farm town.
>A well sat at the center of down.
>3 paths exit leading out of town.
>1 north, 1 south and 1 east.

>ARMOR AND CLOTHING:
>You are currently equipped with strange black knight like armor.
>Astral is wearing a light set of similarly black armor.
>Mimosa wears black robes with the same armor astral is wearing underneath.

>WEAPONS:
>You are equipped with a steel mace.
>Mimosa the same.
>Astral however is equipped with the longsword of your armor's previous owner.

>MAGIC:
>Under an effect of a curse and so it is not an option.

>INVENTORY:
>Some left over food.
>Your Crown and the Queen's.

>What will you do?
Remember physical as well as dialogue options are allowed.

Alright and now the rails can finally be lessened. Just wanted to give you an inventory check before I let you go off on your journey.
Enjoy.

>Anyway I posted that around 12 PM, it's 3 PM now, please understand.
It's probably just a better idea to run later in the day. Sundays a bad for being slow.

Now, I think it would be wise to find a way to get coin. Maybe it'd be possible to use our special talent of growing clovers to sell? Just an idea, but it's a happy one for Shamrock. Getting to his roots. Literally. Let's see if we can get any extra food or medical supplies before leaving.
>>
This is probably a really stupid question but are Clover seeds a thing?.
>>
>>28394366
We should talk to ponies and find out where the nearest towns are and get a feel for the local area.
>>
>>28394525
Forgive me but. I'm not sure how to execute this...
>>28395060
>There are townspeople about, some doing work.
>Some walking to their destination.
>Some going home.
>And among them are fillies playing and running around.
>The town seemed peaceful.
>This is what you were fighting for, you wouldn't want peace like this to be yanked away by the evil of Malum.
>But enough about that, you need to get a general feel for the area.
>And so you decide to speak with some of the local ponies.
>You speak to a stallion who seems to just be sitting around.
"Excuse me sir but, we're new around these parts. Could you tell us where the nearest other town is?" you ask him.
>"Oh, no towns near here sir. We're pretty isolated. We deliver most of our shipments by wagon because of the distance." he says.
"I see."
>Anything else?
Most of the delay was me trying to figure out how to execute the clover thing, but I just couldn't think of a solution.
>>
>>28395015
Google is your friend. Yes, they are a thing.
>>28395387
If nobody has seeds we can just go look for them. Honestly this is kinda stupid and more of a long-term solution for a problem we probably won't be having once we garner support but I'm still having fun with the idea regardless. Let's just go to that fort.
>>
>>28396038
"Let's just go to that fort..."
"Uhhhhh where is that fort?" you ask
>"Up north of here, deep in the Urbs woods." Astral responds.
>"Is everything subtitled "Urbs" around here?" Mimosa asks.
>"Well it is the province of Urbs silly." Astral replies.
>"Whatever let's just get moving." Mimosa states.
>And so you take the north path onto the forest road.
>Eventually after a few twists and turns you find yourselves deep in the jungle.
>The trees are so thick it's almost like they're walls now.
>Winding and twisting into some sort of natural maze.
>In the distance beyond the brush you spot the old fort surrounded by fog and bog.
>Seems you've wandered into a swamp without realizing it.
>Or a marsh perhaps?
>The terminology did not matter.
>You stand before the tattered gate which is rusty and hangs open.
>The drawbridge having crumbled long ago you are left with the obstacle of crossing the moat without a bridge.

>What do you do?
>>
>>28396422
Can we hoist a log big enough over to bridge the gap? Maybe Astral can fly over and find another way?
>>
>>28396512
Okay welp it's roll time again.

if THIS POST YOU'RE READING RIGHT NOW

Ends in 1 to 5 we will cut down a tree and use it to make a makeshift bridge.
6 to 9 we have Astral fly over and find another way for the rest of the party.

0 the first reply decides what happens next.

>You request Astral to use her longsword to cut down a nearby tree.
>The tree collapses.
>Without magic it's a bit difficult to move it but with all 3 of your strengths combined you manage to get it over the chasm.
>You go first to make sure it is stable for the others.
>When they see the tree didn't fall or collapse under your weight they follow behind you.
>You have entered the ancient fort.
>Despite it being daylight being this deep in the woods combined with now being inside the fort the lightning is quite dim, while you ARE able to see if it gets any darker you may need a light source.
>Before you is a long entrance hall with two doors on the left and right walls opposite of one another, one seems to lead up.
>The other downstairs.
>At the complete end of the all you see a great door with strange runes on it.
>"The key is behind that door!" Astral states.
"How do we open it?" You ask.
>"We must break the seal on the door by destroying 2 crystals hidden within the fort that hold the seal in place." Astral states.
>"Well, let's find them then." Mimosa says.
>Where do you go first?
>>
>>28396820
Let's look through the other door.
>>
>>28396820
We're going to need a torch for this.
>>
>>28396837
There's two doors anon.
I mean besides the sealed one at the end.

Could you specify?
>>
>>28396848
>>28396837
Since i almost need to go to bed for work tomorrow i'll stop wasting time like an idiot and just get right down to it.

>You need a torch, perhaps you could find one within the fort.
>Alas you do find one hanging on the wall.
>Long extinguished.
>Unfortunately you have nothing to light it with.
>Unable to light your torch you decide to suck it up and go through one of the doors.
>You decide to go upstairs as going down would probably lead you into darkness you're not prepared for.
>Ascending the stairs you find yourselves in what seems to be a collapsed room.
>Only some floor remains and below leads into a seemingly black abyss.
>Thankfully the shattered floor seems to leave a sort of bridge to the other side.
>But you're not sure how stable it is.
>How do you proceed?
>>
>>28397612
Astral can fly. Send her over to see what's across. I wish to make conversation. Say, "Having magic taken away and basically becoming an earth pony is kinda humbling. There's really a lesson to be learned, yaknow?"
>>
>>28397670
"Astral, can you fly over and see what's over there?" you ask her.
>"Right." Astral obliges as she flies over the weak floor to the passage on the other side.
>She disappears around a corner.
"Having magic taken away and basically becoming an earth pony is kinda humbling. There's really a lesson to be learned, yaknow?" you say.
>"Yeah, now you're just like us peasants eh?" Mimosa asks jokingly.

>Switch POV to Astral or leave Astral on auto play?/What do you do now?
>>
>>28397702
Hey, you should know that I'm barely royalty at all. Eh, sure. Let's be Astral.
>>
>>28397782
"Hey, you should know that I'm barely royalty at all." you respond.

>Meanwhile one the other side of the chasm.
>You had just left your husband and some earthpony girl behind to scout ahead.
>You enter a room with sets of pony armor standing against the walls.
>Probably left there long ago as decoration.
>From where you stand there are two entrances, the one you came from and the closed door on the other side.
>Continue ahead or turn back?
>>
>>28397867
Hm. Suspicious. Let's go back and see how stable the remaining floor is.
>>
>>28397917
>You return to the previous chasm room with shattered flooring.
>"Did you find anything?!" Shamrock asks.
"No! I'm gonna see if this is safe to walk on!" you tell them.
>You walk carefully across the weak flooring.
>It feels like it could give way at any moment but before you know it you're at the other side with your husband and mimosa.
"Phew." you utter wiping the sweat from your brow.
>What do you do?
>>
Welp i'm heading off to bed, unfortunately as i go back to work tomorrow I will not be able to resume until around 5 PM when I get off work.

See you guys tomorrow.
>>
>>28397967
keep looking for that crystal.
>>
>>28397967
Let's be Sham again and head on across.
>>
>>28401346
>You are now King Shamrock, your beloved Queen Astral had just returned from the other side of this crumbling chasm with nothing to be found beyond a room with a door at the end.
>You elect to go across.

>Go alone or bring party?
This is important.
>>
>>28402227
Bring the party, baby.
>>
>>28403305
>You proceed to walk across ushering your party members with you.
>However as Mimosa steps forward to follow you Astral shouts "WAIT!".
>The floor then crumbles as it cannot support the weight of you and Mimosa at the same time.
>You then begin to plummet into the dark.
>Astral watches frozen by shock as you descend into the darkness.

>...
>You're sore, but still alive however you cannot see anything wherever you have landed.
>What do you do?
>>
>>28403324
Damn. I figured we had the sense to go one at a time. Call out for Mimosa.
>>
>>28403459
It may seem arbitrary, but you'd be surprised how being more specific could help situations like this.

"Mimosa! Are you alive?!" you shout into the darkness.
>You hear a cough and then a response from a voice you instantly reconize as Mimosa "Y-yeah! I think I landed on a table or something, but i'm alright!" she shouts back.
>What do you do?
>>
>>28403484
Stay there I'll come to you, just keep talking.
>>
>>28403510
Decided to update it a little.
"I'll come to you, stay put but keep talking!" you tell her.
>"Alright uhhh... bla bla, bla bla bla bla-" she continues to make this sound unsure of what to say.
>You follow the sound, you almost trip over a few things unable to see what they are.
>You hit your hooves on a few things as well.
>You try not to whimper in pain as you do.
>You can feel most of it is stone however you do hit a few wooden things as well.
>Eventually you bump into Mimosa head first.
>"Ouch!" Mimosa exclaims in pain
>"Watch where you're- ... Oh, right."

>What do you do?
>>
>>28403632
use mace as walking stick. tap things in front of you to get a feel for your surroundings.
>>
>>28403632
Let's try to get outta here.
>>
>>28403632
Don't we know a light spell we can cast.

>>28403984
that curse is a huge pain in the ass.

>>28404002
It really is, we can't even use our magic to light a torch.
>>
>>28403956
>>28403971
>You need to get out of here.
"Alright hold my hoof." you tell Mimosa.
>She grasps your hoof and you begin walking through the darkness.
>You use your mace as a sort of blind pony's walking stick to get a feel of what's in front of you.
>Thankfully with the help of the stick you manage to avoid hitting your hooves several times.
>Eventually you reach the wall and begin following it until you find what feels like a door.
>Turning the knob you clearly realize it is infact a door.
>Turning the knob you enter what seems to be a long hall with...a lit torch at the end?
>What do you do?
>>
>>28404119
cautiously head towards the torch with your mace still tapping the ground in front of you.
>>
>>28404130
>You decide to cautiously head towards the light tapping your mace against the stone floor.
>You reach the torch without any events.
>The hallway curves to the right revealing a staircase that leads upwards.

>"Creepy, torches usually go out after awhile so...who lit this one?" Mimosa asks.

>What do you do?

>>28404156
maybe we're not alone and should be cautious. Let's try to find them and see what they're doing here. Be as silent as you can.

>You take the torch in hoof and ascend the stairs.
>Good thing you had the torch so you didn't trip and fall to your death.
>You ascend the stairs and upon opening the door at the top you enter what appears to have been some kind of storage room with giant wooden crates covered in dust and spider webs.
>There are 3 doors. the one you came from AKA the south.
>One to the west.
>And one to the east.
>A crates seem brittle enough to be smashed while a few others are already opened.
>There are no windows in the room, however your torch seems to light things up quite a bit.

Try to open a crate. smash one crate open if they are being uncooperative to see what could be inside.

>>28404908
>You decide to open one of the crates.
>It yields easily the lid almost crumbling as you move it.
>Inside the crate is some rotten old food.
>The stench makes your eyes water.
>You smash open another crate to find expired potions.
>More useless things.
>You then decide to go east.
>You find yourself in a room lined with suits of armor for decor.
>There is a door to the south which you just came from and one to the north.
>What do you do?

>The armor falls apart and the mist disperses into the air.
>Magic Armor defeated!

>With the magic armor out of the way and not wanting to disturb the other armors in fear of them also being alive you head north.

"H-heh right."
>With your wife back at your side you head back into the storage room, then you return down the stairs and into the dark room you fell into before.
>With your newfound torch you can see that it seem to be some kind of...cannon room?
>Cannons and cannon balls are strewn through the room as well as shattered crates and wooden frames that were probably meant to hold the balls and maybe even the cannons in place.

So should I just do everything automatically then? I mean first people complain about not playing enough and now it seems playing too much is now an issue. So i'm getting kind of mixed signals here.

If this dungeon crawling is shit I can easily just skip the Mcguffin crystals.
>>
>>28409933
Keep walking along the wall. maybe the crystals are in the same room? If not then just go up the stairs I suppose. Let's explore the rest of the castle.

it is a tad boring to dungeon crawl without a map.

Yeah, it is kinda boring. To pitch an idea, after this how about you put more emphasis on the characters and interactions? I was actually having a good time being a simple stallion in over his head making big decisions and meeting ponies.

>King Shamrock attacks with his mace.
>You create some small dents in the giant armor.
>Astral checks the opponent!
>Enemy: Grand Magic Armor HP 200, Weapon: Great Axe.
>Enemy Information: A giant suit of armor possessed by living magic, usually conjured by powerful sorcerers to possess objects, typically armor to guard their valuables. The only way to defeat them is to destroy their body.
>Mimosa attacks.
>She has a little more success creating a large dent in it's right hoof.

>Grand Magic Armor swings it's Great Axe.
>Mimosa takes 15 Dmg.
>Current HP: 85
>King Shamrock attempts to block but his guard is broken, but receives lesser damage than if he weren't braced.
Current HP: 110

>King Shamrock particularly makes a point to aim for the legs.
>You manage to damage to destroy one of the backhoofs causing it to have a limp.
>It moves more sluggishly now but still strikes with great might.

>The Grand Magic Armor attacks but it's easy to avoid with it's wound rendering it nearly immobile.

>It tries to swing at you but fails miserably nearly falling over.

>You destroy his last support hoof.
>With his other hoof holding his axe he has nothing left to support himself.
>He topples to the floor shattering apart as the magic essence disperses.
>The key lies within the abandoned torso.
>You claim it for yourself.
>You've collected the first key!

>Meanwhile back at the capitol of Maredite.
>Veneficus sits on the throne that King Shamrock once occupied.
>The Queens throne has been removed.
>A black hooded pony approaches.
>"My master, I have felt a disturbance..."
>Veneficus speaks before he can continue.
>"I'm already aware, he's collecting the keys."
>"We must find that Wizard. But in the mean time keep searching for the key's regardless. All we need is one to keep him from the sword." Veneficus assures.
>"But of course my lord, I shall inform the sentries immediately." The hooded pony states and then trots out the giant double doors.
>"I knew it was a mistake to let that Mimosa retrieve them, she was always so disobedient. Ah well, atleast now I have an excuse to eliminate her. He he he he HA HA HA HA"

>However back at Urbs the heroes stay another night at the inn, their quest for the first key finished.
>One down, two to go.
>But as they went to sleep one question was left on their minds in spite of the events that unfolded before them.
>Where is Magicae? Is he safe? Did he escape the capitol or is he still trapped? Many questions still remain...

>But they will be answered in due time.
>To be continued.
Is what I would say if I didn't still have time to continue. So I'll continue the story in the next post.

>As you slumber in the urbs inn you are greeted with yet another dream.
>You see what looks like the capitol with a thunderstorm brewing above it.
>You see what looks like you wielding some kind of sword with Magicae by your side.
>Behind you stands many soldiers.
>The dream you looks upon the gates.
>Rain begins to pour down as the gates open and dream you screams "CHARGE!"
>Magicae casts a powerful looking spell through the gates before dream you and many soldiers charge in ahead of him.
>You awaken before the battle could unfold any further.
>It is still night when you wake up as you can see a full moon peeking through the windows.
>Astral sleeps next to you while Mimosa sleeps on a second bed near yours.
>In the room is a small bed stand and two beds currently occupied by you and your party.
>One window above your bed and a closed doorway that leads to the hallway of rooms.

>You then decide to cuddle your wife and fall back alseep.

>However as you drift back into slumber you hear a familiar voice echoing in your skull.
>"Your highness, it has been awhile hasn't it? If you don't mind. I'd like to arrange an audience with you... If you'd be so kind."

"Magicae?! Where have you been? We all thought you were captured. Maybe even dead!" you inquired
>"I apologize for scaring you all like that, but you must understand the invasion was quite sudden. Fortunately I was able to make my escape while they were busy hunting you." Magicae tells you
"So, where do you want to meet us?" you ask him.
>"A remote location, far from Veneficus' prying eyes. The mountain village of Gelidus to the icy north." He responds.
"That far? I mean I'm glad you're okay but we're kind of looking for something before Malum's goons get them Magicae." you tell him.
>"I am already aware, the keys to the sword's resting place. There is one near this village. Why do you think I came here? I'm here as a sort of watchdog as it were. So, if they do come for it I may be able to fend them off." Magicae responds
"So, you're sort of holding the key for us then?" you ask him.
>"Well. I wish it were that simple but... You'll just have to see when you get here." Magicae assures.
"If you insist. I suppose if a key is in that location, we might as well. Your request for an audience is granted." You say jokingly.
>"Now that is the King I know. I'll see you there." Magicae states.
"Wait, before I go. I had another dream." you tell him.
>"And what was this dream?" he asks.
>You then explain the dream to him.
>"Hm, I wouldn't worry about it. Just another sign from fate that you will succeed." He assures.
>"Now I must go, Veneficus as many allies. And he can strike at any time, so I must remain vigilant." Magicae says.
>"I will see you upon your arrival." Magicae assures.
>Then a minute of silence goes by and you realize he severed the magic conversation.
>Welp... I guess you're making your way to Gelidus.

Oh before anyone asks, the recipient doesn't need magic to participate in a magic conversation, it's sort of like telepathy in that as long as the sender has magic that's good enough. But yeah it's basically just magic telepathy.
>>
>>28416481
>In the morning you inform the party of Magicae's message and that he has requested we all meet up with him in the snowy mountain village of Gelidus to the north.
>"That is quite a distance to travel." Mimosa states.
>"But if Magicae is there, then we must go!" Astral assures.
"It'll be a long journey but if the key really is there then we will have to go eventually anyway." You tell them.
>"Indeed, we should go as fast as possible. We have no idea when Veneficus may strike and the longer we wait around is just giving him more time." Astral states.
>"He's quite slippery but I doubt anyone he could possible send would be a match for Magicae's might." Mimosa assures.
"Nonetheless we shouldn't keep him waiting." you state.
>You are currently in the Inn of Urbs sitting in your overnight room.
>Is there anything you wish to do before you depart Urbs?
>You most likely will not return and if you ever do it will be a long while from now.

>>
>>28416738
Is there any way to get more food and cold weather supplies? Maybe trade off some armor? While we're at it try to get a good feeling for the local populace and how they feel about this coup.

>>28416775
>You decide to search for the best route to Gelidus, this would most likely be accomplished by purchasing a map at the shop.
>You head to the shop and stock up on food, you also purchase a map of Maredite which reveals to you the roads to Gelidus.
>But something eludes you.
>You need warm clothing but it seems one item is eluding you.
>You need warm clothing.
>You weren't going to Gelidus and freezing to death but it seemed the shop just didn't carry such things.
>Then again you were pretty far south so it's no surprise that they didn't carry clothes like that.
>You might have more luck a bit more north but obviously you'd have to fix this before reaching the snowy mountains.
>But for now you were curious about how the local populace is affected by this coup.
>How do you go about this?

Stupid question I know. But I felt I should ask. Also I had no idea how to execute that properly so...also thanks.

>You decide to simply ask a random stallion while you're shopping if they've heard any interesting news lately.
>"Yeah, apparently there's some new king or something? I swear we only just got a new one a month ago! And apparently the Queen is ill or something? Anyway there's been alot less goods being ordered from the capitol now. I can't even remember the last time we delivered there. There's just been this big disconnect since this new king happened." the random earthpony stallion tells you.
>What do you say/Do?

Let's hope the queen gets better soon then and that they start opening up again soon. Thanks. I guess we go.
>>
>>28417341
"Let's hope the queen gets better soon then and that they start opening up again soon..." you say through your teeth before leaving the shop.
>Those liars, the Queen sick? Really?!
>Of all the nerve.
>But still, it seems they're already beginning to cause slight unrest.
>And the slightest unrest could eventually grow into a tree of turmoil if the discontent is fostered enough.
>This was a good sign of things to come atleast for you anyway.
>With nothing left to do it was time to start your journey to the north.
>You may have to make a stop to see if any warmer clothes appear up north however.
>And so you set off.

>Much time passes, you stop at a few small settlements for rest, luckily along the way you do manage to pick up some warm clothing for the north.
>Warm fur and leather armor.
>Not as good as metal armor but atleast it can keep you from freezing to death.
>Course you didn't put it on until you started getting cold.
>I mean you weren't going to wear them the whole way there and die of a heat stroke or something were you?
>Eventually you spot Gelidus in the distance.
>It was quite the climb but eventually you reach a sort of large flat cliff on the mountain that the village was settled on.
>The village was populated with white and lightly colored ponies.
>The indigenous people of the mountains.
>There were a few more colorful ponies, most likely travelers like yourselves.
>The village appears very welcoming.
>It seems to be mostly dominated by villager houses but there are a few shops and services as well as an inn.

>You only now notice the indigenous ponies weren't wearing fur like you.
>They were either completely natural or wearing very light clothing.
>You wonder how they could be so immune to the cold.
>Granted they've lived in it their entire lives so it's no surprise they've grown accustomed to it.
>It still surprised you that they could walk out in the snow and not even care.
>Hell even the children played in the snow and didn't even seem to care.
>As you walk around you are then greeted by a snowy white pony with a long mane and a matching long beard.
>He speaks with a strong northern accent his voice quite mighty.
>"Welcome, welcome! I take it you're travelers correct? Welcome! What brings you to our home of Gelidus?" he asks you in that same powerful voice.

"Well, We need rest before we start traveling again and this village is a pit stop."
>"Well if you're looking for refuge there's an inn not too far from here. If it's wares you see we have a few shops that may interest you. Potions, weapons, food. Anything you need." He tells you.
"Well, thank you. And who might you be?" you ask him.
>"I'm sort of the leader of this town I suppose, not exactly mayor but people look to me for guidance. You can call me Snowbear, or just Bear if ya like." Bear states.

>"Could you tell us where he is?" Astral asks.
>"Aye, he's staying at the Inn at the moment. Said he was waiting for some blonde fella with a beard and his wife along with a companion. I'd say you fit the bill." He replies.
>"Well thanks for the information. Nice meeting you." Mimosa says.

>It is silent at first, but then you hear some rustling followed with quick hoofsteps to the door.
>The door opens to reveal the face of Magicae peeking through.

>You enter with Astral and Mimosa.
>"Magicae!" Astral says.
>"Ah, so the Queen is safe. But I suppose since Malum has not risen yet that would be the case." Magicae remarks.
>"But enough about that, I take it you're here to find the key, correct?" Magicae asks.
"Yes, do you have it?" you ask him.
>"No, but I know where it is." Magicae assures.
>"Then where is it?" Mimosa asks.
>"My, my. So eager to get to the point. Very well, it lies in a icey cave a few more miles up the mountain." Magicae tells you.
"Why haven't you gotten it yourself?" You ask him.
>"Well. it'd be safer in your hooves your highness, and on top of that it's already guarded." Magicae assures you.
"By what?" you ask.
>"An ice elemental, a spirit that takes the form of a dragon composed entirely of ice." Magicae tells you.
>"So, a literal ice dragon?!" Astral asks.
>"Indeed, quite dangerous." Magicae assures.
"Well, that's reassuring..."
>"Do not worry, for that is why I will assist you on this endeavor." Magicae tells you.
"You're coming with us?!"
>"Indeed." Magicae tells you
>"Is this a problem?" He asks.
"Only if you tell us where you've been on the way there." You tell him.
>"Fair enough." Magicae responds.

>And so it began, on your way to the second key Magicae imparted upon you the tale of his travels.
>"And so as the Order of Malum stormed the castle we realized the battle was lost. Some of the soldiers stayed behind to fight to the death but most of us fled to fight another day. We knew we hadn't a chance once they took the castle, our only option was a tactical retreat. So that we could regroup and fight again later with replenished numbers. So I found myself in the wilderness, the troupe of soldiers I was with decided to group up somewhere to recruit for a rebellion... I have not heard from them in some time. So I did the next best thing, I decided to keep watch on a key so they could not claim the sword for themselves. I chose this one. If only because I knew it'd be easier for it to guard itself. But if I needed to, I could intervene. Remember all it takes is one key missing to deny one the sword." Magicae says
>You are stepping up a steep snowy mountain path as you speak.

>What do you do/say?

>"Do not blame yourself your highness, if anyone is guilty here it is I. I was the one who foolishly stormed the underground leaving the castle weakened and rip for attack. If anyone should feel at fault for what had happened it should be me." Magicae assures.
"I still feel at fault Magicae, I'm the king! I could have prevented this-"
>"Could of, your highness. Could of...What's done is done, there is no use dwelling on the past. What matters is what you're going to do now." Magicae tells you.
>"Speaking of the past, I must apologize your highness. It was wrong of me to keep secrets from you, but you must understand it was for your own good." Magicae says to Astral.
>"Secrets? What secrets?" She asks Magicae
>OH SHIT, it had only just now occurred to you that you never bothered to tell her...
>Oh boy....
"Uhhh Astral, I have a confession to make. I meant to tell you a month or so ago but...well."

>"You...you kept all of this from me?" Astral mutters under her breath.
>"You must understand your highness, we did what we did to protect you." Magicae assures.

>What do you do?

defend. We just need to wait a little longer for magicae to finish. Attempt to find some kind of cover if possible.
>>
>>28431572
>You take the defensive while waiting for Magicae to finish his job.
>Astral shoots some magic beams at the dragon to keep it at bay.
>Mimosa is freed from the ice.
>"Brrrrrr I can't feel anything." Mimosa states.
>"It'll pass." Magicae assures.
>The dragon performs a new trick! It shoots it's claws off creating small ice projectiles!
>You narrowly avoid them.
>What do you do?
Sorry for the delay by the way. I just need to finish a few duties at home and then I can really get started.
>>
>>28431664
hurry and get another shot ready magicae. be careful with those projectiles.
>>
>>28431695
>You instruct Magicae to continue firing his magic fire and to watch out for the icy nails.
>"Already on it." he says.
>Some icy nails come flying at him but he quickly raises a magic shield.
>Which he then lowers and continues firing.
>Astral seems to be struggling to get back in the air with the dragon on full alert now.
>Mimosa seems to be occupied dodging the nails.
>What do you do?
>>
>>28431758
If the dragon has his attention on our comrades then we must attack while his focus is divided.
>>
>>28431758
Sham attacks!
>>
>>28431797
>>28432081
>You attack while the dragon is distracted.
>It cracks slightly.
>It roars in anger at this before taking a swipe at you.
>Shamrock is hit!
>Astral attacks from above to grab it's attention away from you.
>Just then a fireball flies over your head and hits the dragon.
>It's really cracking now you can tell it's wounded severely.
>What do you do?
>>
>>28432207
Everyone focus on hitting the cracks. Throw your mace at it if you have to!
>>
>>28432207
All attack.
>>
>>28432262
>>28432359
>You instruct the party to focus on striking the cracked areas.
>The dragon was obviously weakened so now it's time to crack it's defenses like an egg.
>You strike one of it's legs causing it to shatter.
>Now nearly immobile it lashes out with it's claws.
>Mimosa takes out the other leg.
>Now with it completely immobilized you deliver the final blow, you strike the dragon's head, shattering it's skull and freeing the key within.
>A cool breeze escapes the shell and exits the cave.
>The ice dragon has been defeated!
>You raise the key high in victory.
>"Bravo your highness, bravo! Why am I even here? You clearly don't even need me." Magicae says jokingly.
>"But, sarcasm aside. You fought gallantly your highness. I am proud to call you our king." Magicae states.
"The key is ours, now. Why don't we rest. We'll seek the 3rd key in the morning... I trust you know where it is Magicae?"
>"But of course, we shall speak of it in the morning."
>Suddenly Bear appears at the mouth of the cave.
>"WOAH, what happened up here?! I heard alot of noise. The villagers told me someone might need help! But it looks like ya helped yourselves!" Bear states with a hearty laugh.
>"There is no need old friend, this battle is over." Magicae assures.
>"Heh, I shoulda figured. With a wizard like him I may as well be chopped liver!" Bear says jokingly.
>"Wait, you know him?" Astral asks.
>"But of course, don't you know? All old people know eachother." Magicae says before performing his own hearty laugh.
>That night Bear treated the party to a feast to celebrate their victory.
>Magicae had already explained the situation to them and so if a rebellion were mounted Gelidus would certainly lend a hoof.
>Everything seemed to be right as the party laid down for sleep that night.
>To be continued in next post.

>However miles away, back at the capitol...
>Veneficus sits once again upon the throne as a black robed pony approaches.
>"Let me guess, you idiots messed up again didn't you?!" Veneficus asks in a frustrated tone.
>"Y-yes sir..." The subordinate replies quietly.
>"And why is that?" Veneficus asks.
>"We thought the dragon could defend the key well enough on it's own-" The subordinate says before being cut off.
>"YOU IDIOT!" Venficus shouts as he knocks over a torch unfortunately it extinguishes upon impact preventing any serious damage.
>"With Magicae on their side you really thought that icy lizard would be enough?! Get out of my sight you fool!" he shouts angrily.
>The subordinate wordlessly obliges and leaves quickly slamming the doors behind him in a haste.
>"Ugh" Veneficus mutters as he sits back on the throne.
>"Why am I forced to work with such idiots? If things keep going like this we may have to resurrect Malum the easy way...He won't be as powerful as he would with the true ritual, but the way things are going I'M RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS!" he shouts in anger.
>"I guess if all else fails, do it yourself!" Veneficus says merrily.
>"ACOLYTES! ARRANGE FOR TRANSPORTATION! I'll see to searching for the 3rd key personally..." He states in a dark tone.
>Meanwhile back at the inn of Gelidus the king slumbers completely unaware of what is to come.

>The morning sun rises and the party all wake up and prepare to depart.
>Bear and the rest of the village wave goodbye as they leave.
>On the trail away from Gelidus Magicae informs the party of their next destination.
>"The final key lies in a realm of fire, the fiery mountains of magma known as Vulcanus." Magicae states.
>"Vulcanus?! You don't mean..." Astral begins before magicae speaks again.
>"Indeed, the realm of the dragons. As you know they don't take quite kindly to ponies on their land." Magicae states.
"Realm of the dragons?" You repeat quizically

>"Oh, I forgot you aren't that astute on the history of our nation your highness. Perhaps her highness Astral could be of some service?" Magicae requests.
>"Ah, So it seems I shall spin you another tale dear. Where to begin..."

[Astral is now the narrator]

>It all began centuries ago during the earliest years of our kingdom, a tribe of ponies attempted to settle in the magma filled lands of Vulcanus, however dragons arrived also desiring the land... You know how territorial dragons are, and so fights broke out that escalated into a full on war.
>The tribe knew they could not best the dragons, and so a deal was struck. They could have the land, so long as they left the lands of the ponies alone.
>And so it was done, and the dragons have lived there since.
>However the dragons are not completely stone hearted, despite their greedy nature they are quite formidable allies to those who have gained their respect.
"What do you mean? Gain their respect?"
>Dragons do things a little differently than us ponies dear, to gain a dragon's respect you must beat him in physical combat.
"P-Physical combat?!"
>Think a wrestling match dear.
>If we are to be permitted into their lands we must gain their respect.
>Otherwise the key will be out of reach.

[Astral is no longer the narrator]

>"Hopefully you're up to the task?" Astral asks.
>You gulp.
>Uhhhhhhh
>What do you say?

Good morning.
"I guess we better be good at running? would a race count? or we can train using the mace more."
>"That won't really do you much good dear, it's a more traditional thing. You need to best them in physical combat completely unarmed. The both of you that is, you luckily won't have to watch out for claws or anything." Astral assures.
"Why does it have to be me?!"
>"Well typically the males participate in the winning of respect. And Magicae is definitely in no shape to do so." Astral states.
>"Bah, I am no defensless old man... But I suppose you are correct, wrestling a dragon is not exactly a possibility for me." Magicae says.
>"How is he going to wrestle a dragon?! Aren't they really big and scary?!" Mimosa asks.
>"No, the dragons that inhabit Vulcanus are much smaller than the norm. Although they are still much taller than a mere pony, but do not fret. You're not going to be wrestling any house sized dragons your highness." Magicae assures.
"That's a relief.. But does it have to be me?!"
>"You are the only physically capable male shammy. I'm sure you'll be fine!" Astral reassures.
>You hoped she was right, but for now the journey ahead is your main concern.
>Obviously you ditch the winter clothing as you're definitely not going to need it in this magma filled land.
>The borders to this land were guarded by a grand canyon with only one entrance.
>A steep entrance at that.
>But you all trudged on as this was the final key.
>However halfway up the climb a voice calls from above.
>"Who dares tresspass?!"
>You look up to see a dragon with fiery orange scales gazing down upon you from a higher vantage point.
>"Begone from our land pony! You are not welcome here!"
>Despite not being humongous he was still taller than you enough to be intimidating.
>What do you do?

I am the king of Maredite and we need passage unto dragon lands to save our kingdom.

"I am the king of maredite, and we need passage unto dragon lands to save our kingdom!"
>"No ponies allowed! Begone!"
>"As stubborn as ever." Magicae says.
>"The way I see it we have two options, either we make an attempt at gaining his respect through show of physical force... Or we bribe him, if there's one things dragons love it's gold and treasure." Magicae assures.
>Is he really suggesting we fucking wrestle this guy this early?
>That sounds dangerous as fuck but.
>Then again we can just bribe him...
>But that'd be the pussy way out.
>But that's also be the you probably won't die way out.
>What do you do?
>>28438407
Yes and that is part of why I decided to wait this long hopefully this is sufficient.
>>28439456
also it was on page 10 when I came so I had to perform and emergency bump so it didn't 404 while I was writing.
>>
>>28439504
What do we have to bribe him?
>>
>>28439644
>Gold seems to be the only thing of value you have on you.
>>
should have just asked under who's word is it said that ponies aren't allowed and who's land are we trespassing.

also all you need to do to beat him is attack his legs and then stomp him.
>>
>>28440622
If it's a wrestling match here's what you gotta do.

Lift with your legs not your back. Mostly because horse legs are stronk as fuck.
>>
>>28440622
So should I just do this?

I mean may as well since no other actions have come in.
>>
>>28440891
Sure.
>>
Okay I'll just say this here and now.

Does anyone mind if I take a break from this CYOA for a bit and then come back later? I don't know but focusing on it basically every day after i've started has burned me out a bit.

I think I need to take a break from this story and return to write at a different time.

So I guess expect part 3 in a few days at best or whenever I feel like returning.

I apologize but I need a break.
