That'll enable Theissen and Meghan the wiggle-room they've never had to create something more grandoise and theatrical than the show is currently capable.

It's common knowledge in the movie bizz too that G ratings are hazardous toward making profit.
If Hasbro are smart, they will market this movie toward families, i.e the 8-11 age range, rather than 3-7.

You'd be surprised how much G and TV-Y can throttle production, I'm sure you all know how many times Lauren Faust kicked and screamed having her ideas turned down for being too "frightening" or "mature"
Even subtle things like music and tone of voice have to be controlled and measured as to not frighten young children.

Maybe the movie will make up for those shortcomings the tv show failed to deliver
