Synopsis:
When Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy turn out to be Ponyville’s best Buckball players, Applejack and Rainbow Dash agree to coach them against Appleoosa[sic]. But when the pressure’s on and the players stop having fun, Ponyville’s newest star athletes lose their competitive edge and quite possibly the biggest Buckball game in history!

Surprisingly a sports episode made me smile even though I'm not much for any of those. Fluttershy and Pinkie were top cute, Dash wasn't a complete cunt and AJ wasn't really that bossy as the ages-old plot would demand of its characters in most other cartoons. They were playing a sport and enjoying it which I found unusual and they were remaining in character while still only playing the game. Their wasn't a wacky spin where Pinkie tried to make a party out of it or Fluttershy tried to involve kindness or animals, they were just playing the game and enjoying it.

Having predictable stories is nowhere near new for mlp and many of the episode celebrated were nothing really far out there as far as a moral was concerned
The episode was paced well, had decent dialogue and most of all, the characters were really well done in an episode where they could have been done horribly. RD and AJ both handled the situation very well, Pinkie and FS were in an odd environment and still acted very well and Snips was incorporated nicely.
Your complaints were being generic and predictable when that applies to the majority of the show. I don't think you truly understand why you did not like the episode but if you really think it was solely because you felt the plot and moral were generic, you need to reevaluate why you like other episodes.
I genuinely believe you have legitimate reasons for not liking this episode. Associating them with "generic and predictable" is horse shit however. That's the show in a nutshell.

Discord episode wasn't this predictable. We had funnier jokes in the dialogue. Discord roasted Spike with his comments about respect and Rarity. Had shown Discord mental insecurities. Had developed new friendships between BM, Spike and Discord.
This episode had nothing. The ponies were already frineds, the main goal was just winning some stupid game so the audince didn't care if Ponyville of Appleoosa would win. Dash and Aj comepltely unneccesary put a pressure on them and created a conflicet by themselves. Interactions between mane6 were as basic as in every mane6 episode. Episodes like Trade Ya or CastleMania were more entertaining than this. From the writers persepctive i don't see anything remotely interesting in this episode.

It just a mix between football and basketball but with less sense and effort put into making it up.

This episode was horrible. The setup sucked. It might as well have not been MLP. I mean, shit, they invented attributes for a bunch of characters, and made Pinkie SCARED. What The Fuck? This episode was just a bunch of shit happening for no god damned reason. Buckball was stupid, and we didn't even get Apploosa for more than five fuckin seconds.

I just can't feel like this episode exists in their universe, ya know? Buckball literally came out of nowhere, randomly Fluttershy can use her tail extensions illegally to be good, and Snails for some reason is a prodigy. Pinkie is suddenly held back and not over the top. That is completely in line with several episodes in prior seasons involving Pinkie Pie. She has panicked several times in the past both with trying to impress others, trying to do well for her friends, and with what others think of her. Buckball was merely the device used to get the story across. I'm not sure how this differs from several other episodes that adding little to world building but used a simple concept to get across the morale.
Episodes of mlp do not frequently have events that carry over into other episodes (at least not frequently enough to have a significant impact on later episodes). People complain about this episode being arbitrary when most episodes are. The characters were handled very well, the pacing was good and the dialogue was on point without driving any character into being unlikable regardless of the conflict.
The people complaining about significance act like significant episodes are the norm of the show. They are not. Not every episode is lore building, many are slice of life.

Rainbow Dash and Applejack were able to realize their faults and handled it without ever acting too harshly towards Ponka or Flutter. PP and FS were put in an out of environment situation and were still acting very cheerful, Flutter was looser than usual and Ponka was having fun with the game without being too over the top and exclusive.

Sometimes a sleepover episode is just a sleepover. Sometimes a episode about racism is just an episode about racism. Sometimes an episode about asserting control is just an episode about asserting control.
Many s1 episodes were very simple from beginning to end. The characters were newer and therefore it was easier to attribute development to them, but it was not difficult to see that the shy pony was learning to not be so shy, or the classy pony and the country pony were learning to get along.
Not much was being subverted, it was just new for the show.

That's my point though. The same could be said for many episodes from earlier season. The story itself is laughably basic, it's what occurs within the story (the character interactions) that make it memorable.
If you were watching Look Before You Sleep with that attitude, I don't understand why it would be any different. That episode is obvious within the first couple minutes. It was still (I assume) a good episode for you.

S6 seems to be the season of cringe for me. And I've never had that much of a problem with the show in prior seasons.
During the middle of the show, over and over they really hammered the message over and over again by having Dash and Applejack state that they love the pressure over and over again and having Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie talk about the feelings that were obviously portrayed on their faces. This makes me upset for this reason. I care about this show. That is why I type all these words.
See? Less is more.
They could have used that time for more jokes, or for literally anything else. Instead, it was the animation and pandering departments that were picking up the slack. Again.
Whoever wrote and edited the dialogue should be asked to step down. Because this episode had some things I did like. Buckball's three tribe system was pretty inspired. I'm not a fan of pandering, but the references and memebait faces were relatively subtle. The characters were on point. The plot relied on two characters lack of perspective getting out of hand though you can argue that it was them being stupid for no reason >>28327110. You can also argue that it was nice that Dash and AJ realized their mistake, but I felt that it neutered the conflict to save time in production because it lowered whatever little stakes there were >>28327206 . And the resolution was predictable without any twist like some of the earlier season's episodes had.
This episode had POTENTIAL. And it was squashed so throughly that I had to tab out of the episode for a few seconds because I couldn't believe this was the same show that made me fall in love with its world, creatures, and characters.

That's not to say she'd be all about casual or public affection, but in private between a couple? Anything that feels good (and isnt scary) would be on the table. And I certainly can't see her denying herself or her partner whenever the mood hits even a little bit.

It's another in a long line of promising episodes that have been ruined by a nonsense rushed ending because they run out of time. I wish the show wasn't allergic to two (or perhaps more) episode arcs except in season finales - so many better stories could be told if they had the proper time to lay out a satisfying narrative and earn the resolution.

Aren't changelings kinda about draining love from ponies? How did that guy even survive in the frozen lands? How did he get so far? Are the royalty just gonna tolerate that there's a changeling sucking love out of ponies, in the single city that NEEDS it to even exist? What is this, a /pol/ produced satire? Where is any guarantee that the changeling is in fact not evil anymore? And this is more subjective, but from S2 I always thought changelings have those cool chrysalis like voices and are more like orders obeying drones than anything else, but instead the first changeling after four years is this fagatron. How was he not made to obey over the years? How was he not thrown out from the hive for being a little bitch?
Just fuck that episode. It was meh and bullshit all around and I got hyped for it and it let me down the most of all the s6 episodes so far.
