Overused example, to the point it's a meme now, but Red Eye always had good intentions. His methods were ones by an asshole, but in the wasteland, that's the only way to get that place to do shit.

I would love to see a fic about a dude who sets out to be an altruistic proto-Lightbringer, but along the way, slowly realizes that the best way to bring salvation to the wasteland isn't always the nicest or the most....benevolent

It starts out small. Maybe he/she executes a notorious raider leader who says that once he goes free, he'll get right back to killing. Then, having that situation scar his psyche, maybe kills a corrupt mayor of a small community who said mayor oppressed and kept poor, and then he/she rules that small community with a somewhat iron fist and turns it prosperous.

And then it just snowballs.

it's just a short relatively speaking story from the adventures of one of my characters. Although granted the perspective isn't first person and it doesn't have a full focus on that character. He's more of a recurring theme.

When I say chapter X of book Y in order from whichever one I decide to attempt writing, I pretty much just mean I have a lot of points in his timeline to choose from.

I chose the one where he meets a pair of very unique robots.

Question for the rest of you: Writing children characters is commonly considered difficult so how would you all feel about the way that would be handled? Should narrative descriptors be limited and sound like it's actually a child describing things rather than an adult with a more diverse vocabulary? Should sentences and paragraphs feel more redundant and less elegant than if they were carefully edited by someone who knows better?

When I'm writing Scotch and Company, I try to keep it in their POV. When it's Majina, it's silly. When its Scotch, it's a lot more expository. The reader has to stay engaged. Using the right vocabulary is tricky though. I try to pay attention to my twelve yr old nephew for grammar, but ultimately I'm writing for adults. So yeah, it's hard.

THat being said, I really love seeing characters insecurities, prejudices and obliviousness to certain things in other works
Like, compare writing about a gruff outlaw seeing a Hellhound for the 8th time this month, to writing about an innocent filly seeing one for the first time in her life, bursting out of the ground

She wouldn't know what it is, her little mind would race trying to make sense of it, she'd use little kid words like "huge" or "big" or "scary" instead of flowery adult words like "powerful" or "formidable"

To the anon that was asking about projects, I'm working on that Bound in Steel series of AJ x Steelhooves illustrations with DarkSittch. I remember a few people had interest in it last time it was posted. I can't say for sure when his schedule will allow an update so I'm sorry about that, but I can answer some questions about it and/or give a rundown of what my plans were for the original story.

Most of it is adapted from a script I was working on a while ago. There's a lot of extra plans I had that I ended up cutting in the illustrations due to limitations, so I can go into a lot more detail about it here if anyone's interested?

The story mostly covers Steelhooves' and AJ's relationship leading up to and shortly after the end of the war, while exploring some of the darker aspects of wartime Equestria. The main idea was that I wanted to paint a picture of what Pre War Equestria would've looked like from Steelhooves' POV and add a perspective to things that Pip wouldn't have gotten just by looking through his memory orbs. I also added a bit of backstory to things that were just sort of glossed over in the original.

Fitting in all that information was pretty near impossible with just 8 or 9 frames to work with, so a lot ended up being cut out. But maybe I can fix that with some grayscale filler images like you suggested.

I like the idea of raiders having a culture of their own. It's barbaric, it's rough, it's not for the weak, and despite how vile and cruel or sadistic they can be to outsiders, they still must feel some sense of love, loyalty, and empathy towards those who they consider part of their family or clan.

I'm working on the continuation to the Ex-Raider story, and I've discovered something important.
It's one thing to write a mystery for a Quest to be unraveled by players over the course of a year of play. It's an entirely different beast to write a fair-play whodunnit to be solved by the characters over the course of a couple chapters. Trying to keep everything straight, balancing the clues so it's solvable but not too obvious, it's all a little harder than I thought.

The colt has tourette's syndrome, constantly has to say sand and talk about it, no matter how much he tries not to.
Mommy keeps trying to teach him not to say such things, and the constant refusal is slowly grinding away at her willingness.
Eventually an opportune bullet leads to them visiting a doctor where the colt's condition is finally revealed.
Doctor offers a drug regime and memory orb treatment that would cure the issue, but would have an unpredictable effect on the colt when the tic is removed.

Should they take the chance to cure him, or know that it will eventually result in their hateful separation?

Writing a story about leaders out in the wastes. Specifically, an Overmare whose entire Stable was forced out after an accident.
Been on it for a few months now, and I've written the first two chapters, but I still want to plan out the whole course of the story before going further. So basically it's
