Honestly when I think of "the ride" in terms of "then" and "now I put it into s1-3 and 4-6, and that being said s6 has been the first time I felt remotely let down since s3....and desu it's mainly because this season doesn't seem to have a strong narrative or story arc like the others did....so no, I get why some might think s6 is underwhelming thus far but in the grander scheme I don't agree with the image especially since people have been saying "the ride is over" "fandom is dead" and etc forever, and it really hasn't been true for me at all at large

The ride used to be exciting but terrifying, with big changes happening every month and both the fandom and show constantly under threat. Nowadays we've learned to deal with it. We know the ride is safe, but it's also getting monotonous and there's no end in sight. Good news and bad news, good episodes and bad episodes, both have very little permanent impact because we know that neither one of them will mean the end of the other.

I lost all interest in the show about two years ago and haven't even fully watched S4

You missed nothing but the stagnation of the show and the board. Time passes, etc. Some cool things happened in S5, nothing interesting happened in S6. The best episodes this season could be summed up with 'mediocre with bright points'. It's still worth watching, but don't expect anything special.

Only now do I realise that the last couple of months of the S2 hiatus is the only place where the chart points upwards when episodes aren't airing. There was nothing around the show itself, but there were tons of infighting going on throughout the community as people started to use /mlp/ to shit talk other people. The whole Purple Tinker thing with Bronycon and the convention scene in general was going fucking nuts. New cons were popping up everywhere and tons of people were slinging shit here.

Try again. Twilicorn was seriously the point of no return. It wrapped up the base of the show which was the overarching story of Twilight learning about friendship and talking to Celestia about it. It was purely about Twilight and her friends learning these lessons to apply to one-another and their other friends. Twilicorn took that away showing the her friends and teacher considered her training and switched focus outward instead of inward for the main 6. It also went wild filling out the world and focusing on filling out the world, especially season 5 and 6, which made it lose its mysterious charm. In season 1, 2, and 3, while there were episodes that left Ponyville, the typical setting of Ponyville made those episodes feel huge and kept the world feeling like it was ever-growing.

It is, compared to how it was back in 2011 and 2012. The good artfags and musicfags are gone as you said it, or at least, the ones who have started out with the fandom and made making fan content a thing. They all moved on with their content or lives by now, many people who actively watched the show back then don't care about it anymore, with the exception maybe being porn. I don't wanna be that "hurr, everything's gonna be gone tomorrow!1" sort of person, but the fandom /did/ stagnate in growth, and now it's slowly declining in size and interest again. Heck, it's been 6 years. Many people I know who used to actively create content have things like college to worry about now.
Many pony communities are so much slower than back in the day, and some feel as if they aren't even relevant anymore, some even having reached the point of merging with others. So yeah, the interest in pony related things is fading, or at least shifting into other regions.

Someone made a shitposting thread that got 4 replies. The OP claimed Mando was a pedo and fucked Michelle Creeber. Mando found it through Googling his name(so he claims) and started going crazy on Twitter about how much of asshole we are. People hassled him and told him to fuck off because no one even replied to the thread and that it was no big deal. He didn't back down and continued to go wild about defamation of character. His mom ended up joining in on it too as well as Sibsy, a person who worked on the show. Things cooled down and another spark went wild when people found out Sibsy (who at this point had left the show staff I believe) and Mando were dating. /mlp/ did what it always does and a few outliers harassed them a little bit. Then round two flared up and shit went crazy again. Since then, he's learned to take it in stride as there was almost a round three when him and Sibsy got married, but he decided not to blow random bullshitting on the Internet out of proportion. There are some crazy people in this fandom and staff.
