I wouldn't do it with ponies, but the idea of making a similar game is strongly growing in the back of my mind, however I'm really scared about the ton's of work that required.
I'm learning to make a simple fallout equestria rip-off, but I like more the old fallout games so I'll making it an isometric turn based strategy game.
Not with unity, I've had bad experiences with it.

I did make some pretty cool games using Game Maker though. I'm still pretty proud of my ultimate creation. Sky Raiders 2 was THE SHIT man.

I've strongly considered Unity to make something pony-related, since I'm a Javascript developer (inb4 FUCK OFF PAJEET) but I've been unable to locate hard answers about Unity's spying on its users.

It seems to me that there are systems in place, that if one tried to release a pony game in Unity anonymously so as to thwart cease and desists, that they could use the client to work out who you are based on what version of the program you used. I've been unable to verify this for sure, but it makes me a bit nervous

Maybe. I'm already working on another game however (with a small MLP easter egg), so I'm busy for the next 6 months at least.
I can provide a bit of help in Unity/C#/GameDesign if another dev want to do it, however.
