There are hundreds of ways of writing sweet and innocent characters into killing one another - accidentally, unknowingly or even intentionally. The interesting part would be seeing how they ended up there or what they did afterwards.

Perhaps you're thinking that "killing someone" automatically means Cupcakes or The Rainbow Factory where it's simply that the character "was actually psychotic this whole time" which would indeed be out of character and lazy writing.
