Well, even if the episode is better than least week's, that doesn't mean that it'll be any good. Breaking a leg is better than getting cancer, but that doesn't mean that a broken leg is something good. So maybe you're right.

It's definitely a crap-shoot. On the one hand, it's a Spike episode, but last time Spike was introduced to a new species arc, it went pretty well, but these are edgelings, and that might get weird if the new writer was lazy at all in his research of the show like last week's. I sure hope it's good, but I'm going in with uncertain expectations.

Difference is that this one might have something to do with the next few episodes whereas the other episodes of the seasons can freely be quick or slowly paced depending on the direction and can still be a good episode.

A good example of rushed would be the CMC's cutie mark musical episode.
