Have you noticed a thing? There's a huge difference between the first episodes of S1 and the first episodes of S2: in S1 Star relied on magic in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE, more than once per ep.

Now, instead, she's being very thrifty with it. I know it's probably because she's unsure whether to trust it or not, BUT...a weird idea came to my mind: what if it was because in S1 the Magic came directly from the wand, while in S2, due to the fact that the star has been split, she has to WORK for it?

See for example when she saved Marco from the crazed cloud thing: it's basically as if magic depended on her mood, if she's annoyed or flustered things get out 'wrong' (i.e. when she evoked the cloud familiar), if she's focused or determined things get out 'right' (i.e. when she saved Marco and reverted the familiar back to normal)

So, what's interesting about this theory? That the first time I made it up, something was telling me it wasn't the first time I heard about it. So I thought about it, and then I remembered: it's EXACTLY the same thing that happened in Sakura Card Captor. A series which is not just a random anime, but exactly the series on which the design of Star's wand is based (see pic): endless resource of stable magic in S1, finite resource of unstable magic in S2

I would have liked this show a lot more if I straight-up just didn't watch the first episode/pilot.
I really don't like how some cute bubbly girl so desperately wanted to befrend some beta loser from a world. If Marco and Star just started out as friends from the start and pieced together the history of them meeting slowly, I might have been better off.

I realise Discord has come a long way in the show when it comes to being a goof friend, but basically every time he does something right, there is also a bit of mischief or 'evil' involved, so I'd say a bit of a sceptical attitude is still justified.
