To the management issue: they put in a lot of effort, always did. They should continue to do if they want to. Just make it a bit easier for new blood to join. /r9k/ got a completely new manager and while it's too early to say for this cup they suddenly got quite good in Spring. With the fanbase /mlp/ has there should be enough potential to find a good addition? That's assuming of course that there is someone willing to do it.

Maybe a single main manager and tictacs guy and the rest being power testers might work better too.

On the other hand that wasn't a bad match at all. I expected much worse. That /o/ match I don't even know, maybe it truly was just PES. So what we have might not as "bad" as it seems.

Memes aside, the tictacs vs /u/ were done well. The first half was an absolute dominanace.

The problem is that /u/ manager did the correct thing and swapped everything. There was no response from our management.

Granted, the 2nd goal was absolute bullshit, Razzle took the ball after the stoppage and refs did not give a fuck, just to stop Doomguy on 1v1 attack in /o/'s fucking box. Still tho, you could've prevented this

It's not something anybody anticipated and that does fall on the managers and tester (me).

I can't explain anyone else's thought process as to what they tried in testing. For me, as I said before, the fluid 4-4-2 that /u/ has used on several occasions very handily destroyed several variations of the current /mlp/. I guessed that /u/ management would discover that in testing as well and, as such, would go with the fluid 4-4-2 for an easy win.

I did manage to guess correctly some of the tactics that they used in the game. Their first set of slider changes almost exactly matched tactics I had tested against and got good results from.

Because I thought they would rely on fluid and because I bet that they would stick with it, I didn't think to test against other types of formations. I also spent a LOT of time trying to find something that would work, which wasn't easy, so time-wise there wasn't much left to try formations other than what I saw worked well against /mlp/.

I hope the managers bring on new testers. Having some extra man power to test against a wider range of contingencies may have helped. As it stands, we couldn't plan for everything and suffered a draw for it. Some people will complain about this, but I am optimistic about our prospects. I hate putting on my trip, and it seems that the longest posts I have to write are the worst. So here goes.
/u/ played a good game. Thier initial changes went to /mlp/'s favor and took great saves to prevent the score from going to 3 or 4 to 0. Thier swap to the new formation helped defense.
There was only one throughball and it was the 90+. Fug.
Everyone has been working since the draw to prepare and went all out for this game. To have it swept out at the last second is the worst, especially for me. All I want is to make sure all of you here have a great time watching games, and winning is great fun. There are so many talented people here who have contributed to the team it's incredible. It really sucks when everyone can't enjoy it to the fullest.
We still have one game we have to win, so if there's a time to push past our limit it's now.
