Yes. It made me discover /tv/ and want to become a culture-demon making films for Hollywood and forcing myself to watch old foreign films to get a better grasp on cinematic techniques and history.

This.
Also, I did not have an attraction not only to ponies, but to horses now too.

Not really I enjoy the show. /mlp/ used to be a daily destination but hiatus severed it to when I'm drunk mostly

It made me even more of a shitposting asshole than I already was

Yeah, /mlp/ is what made me cone to 4chan in the first place if so remember correctly and I've been here literally every day since. Now some years later I spend my days on /r9k/ whining about what a loser I am and how I wasted my teenage years shitposting on image boards. MLP pretty much ruined my life.

I discovered it just as I was starting college and I'm ~80% sure it sabotaged any chance of a typical college social life. C'est la vie.

I just discover the show one year ago, I was depressed for a girl, the show make me smile again, I was surprised, I never expect that I will laugh so much with a show for little girls, the show didn't change my life but is a very special part of myself now

Yes

Been watching it on and off since Season 1, but didn't start watching it consistently until a couple years ago

I had to drop out of high school and move away to take care of my dying grandmother, grew very depressed

Lived in the middle of nowhere at her house and had nothing to do, so I watched the first episode again on Netflix. It cheered me up and helped me cope a bit, I caught up on the series from there

Yes. My obsession has brought me to discover and explore my talents, all the while providing an easing home that exists in fond memories.
>>
>>28085905
This. So much this. Before hand I would have never known the difference between a mare, stallion, colt, filly, or foal or what horsepussy looks like or how their butts are efficient at cutting shit.
>>
No. If anything it made it worse. It gave me something to focus on and put energy into to disappear for a while from the world. By that, I don't mean I lost friends or anything, but I think for my mental health it did a little bit of damage with me obsessing over a character from a show. It fucked me up in the way that I now have an unachievable desire in my partner. It ruined my sex drive by killing it completely for half a year and then taking it into overdrive for 4 to the point where only fetishs or ponies can give me any satisfaction. Does the show still make me smile? From time to time sure, but if it wasn't for the show, I would have had more time to put my focus somewhere else. I don't blame it too much because I probably would have just got addicted to something else had it not filled some unknown void I had in me back when I was 20.

>>28084899
It's nice to watch a show so overly happy and sweet, but life changing? No, not really. I definitely smile more and look forward to watching every episode, but it hasn't affected how I act in any way.

That said, it's hard to post that when I've spent six years of my life surrounded by ponies, posting on pony threads, and generally devoting a lot of time to pony related activities. It's definitely a part of my life, just something I keep separate from everything else.

>Is this the reason why there's so many shills on /mlp/
Yes. It's also the reason there are so many people that criticize everything after season 2.

No. It's because anons feel like MLP is their only hope.

This. Although t.b.h S3 wasn't so terrible for me. Pretty much I loved the show until Newbie Dash, that episode was so fucking depressing it almost made me return to the starting point.

BS 'meme' 'The Ride Never Ends'

New "Top Gear" series dies half way through because of Chris Evans. BBC realising only too well that Clarkson, Hammond & May WERE Top Gear. It isn't TG without them, Stig or no.

The ride that is the motoring show "Top Gear" ends.

Some say, that his nipples are explosive. And that he destroys two memes every day before breakfast. All we know is... he's called Stigpony!
>>
>>28091253
What do you mean depressing? The Wonderbolts are god awful at onboarding new members, leading to confusion and a false sense of hostility. It's resolved by the end of the episode, and Dash learns that the Wonderbolts actually respect her.
>>
>>28091716
>What do you mean depressing?
Depressing as "I was perfectly fine the day before, and I felt like shit for like three weeks after watching it". It isn't something I can choose, nor something I can "fix" using mental gymnastics.
And, sure, I'm a depressive person, that's specifically the reason why I love (used to love?) this show, and I can affirm that that hadn't happened to me ever before watching the show.
>>
>>28084899
I watch more cartoons than I used to. It's a small change.

MLP and the surrounding drama compelled me to ask and answer questions that I wouldn't have pondered as early as the age of 16. I'd probably still be an immature, unreasonable person without it.

People don't get this, they just defend the episode because whatever it is works out in the end. Of course it does, it's a children's show. Just really depressing to see certain elements enter it, for instance I absolutely hated that the Zephyr episode introduces prolonged unemployment as a concept that exists in their universe at all. That's an adult problem, it doesn't belong there. Cue replies telling me to get a job and/or cheer up, if it worked that way the first friend of family member who reacted that way would have helped and I wouldn't be here saying this. The additional illogical detail that Zephyr has a cutie mark already and should know exactly what to do with his life only makes it more depressing and real, it's not as though I don't know what I want to end up doing but that I don't know how to get there.

I couldn't even finish the episode because whatever status-quo affirmation isn't going to fix or address how depressing the concept of being unemployed for years is. Or how it compounds itself and the longer you're out of work the more down time you have to explain to the next time you apply for a job. To the point that it snowballs away from you and you're a 30 year old man who lives with his mother and won't even be considered for the simplest grunt work because there's always a normie in line right behind you. Ready to look better than you, ready to look like a personal story they can themselves comprehend and not be depressed by.

Let's say Zephyr never got work or figured anything out. What happens to him in 10 years? In 20 years? What's he supposed to do, kill ponies? He would have every reason to just snap and start killing other ponies at that point.

That the system is broken and routinely abandons people isn't something I wanted to think about while watching technicolor horsey funtime. The writers need to keep turds like that episode firmly inside of their assholes.
>>
>>28084899
Maybe? When I started watching, it just acted as another distraction for me so I wouldn't have to physically interact with other people. I guess this board being made pulled me away from /b/, and now I'm sickened that I was ever a regular poster there.

Something I noticed recently is that I'm attracted to the pink-haired girl in every anime I watch, and I feel like this probably has to do with me being a Flutterfag for the past five years.
>>
>>28094383
To be honest, after Newbie Dash I skipped that episode. I have no interest whatsoever in any other episode written by that guy.
>>
>>28084899

It compelled me to write a book, make a video game, and meet my girlfriend, so yes.
>>
>>28089985
This
>>
>>28094383
Chill anon, I get it. Usually it's people getting upset at the plot, which is why I defended it. I get that some things are just depressing, and I get that sometimes depression isn't always understood. I didn't initially realize that anon I was responding to meant it that way.

I didn't think Newbie Dash was so depressing since it showed just another way that people like to hang out and motivate each other. Flutter Brutter I agree was an abomination though. I can appreciate the message, but the scenario was complete ass for pony. No pony should be condemned to systematic hopelessness. Trouble Shoes' situation was bad enough when it was just a misconception, but Zephyr's was horrifying.

I get it life sucks but having that touch of real life in the show is what I enjoy about it. If it was always rainbows and sunshine I would never watch it.

>the system fails people

Maybe it's just being a Midwesterner but you are responsible for you. There doesn't need to be a "system" to make something of yourself.

You have the internet, public libraries are free, you're literate. The sum of mankind's knowledge lies at your fingertips. Do something with it then do something about your life.
>>
>>28084899
as a matter in fact, yes

before, I was a juvenile delinquent, depressed and pissed, and had nothing to live for

this show is a godsend
>>
Well im like madly in love with a cartoon horse who makes Dresses now so I guess?
>>
>>28096134
>You have the internet, public libraries are free
Zephyr doesn't have the Internet, and as far as we know Ponyville doesn't have a library since the S4 finale. So that doesn't apply at all to Zepyhr's circumstances, nor addresses the question that other anon asked, if Zephyr never figured anything out, what happens to him in 10 years?

Even if you think he is responsible for himself, he doesn't have the resources he would have here. It's OK that you want more than rainbows and sunshine, but you have to admit that the episode presented a world (even) worse than ours. That's quite terrible.
