I agree with pretty much everything. However I think the Pony-related rule should be expanded to include lyrics that talk about a pony or situation from the show over original music. Really, you don't have to go so far as to limit people to riffs that reflect a musical component from the show, as long as there are at least lyrics that talk about it in some manner.

Drumfags and mixfriends, I need a bit of assistance here.
I've been recording drums for a personal project of mine, and I'm not sure how to bring the best of my recordings. I'm fairly sure the recording itself is relatively high quality, but 1. my playing is far from perfect, 2. my drums might be total shit, and 3. my mixing skills are limited to the three of four bits of information I've found on google.
Plus I'm using Audacity.

So I've compressed and equalized the shit out of my recordings, but I'm really unsure of the quality of my mixing. I didn't use a limiter for instance, and I don't know what I would use it for. I might have been too aggressive on the mids for the overheads, but other than that I don't know how to improve anything.

I think the EQ could use some extra work.

Some of this might partially be your setup, how many mics are you using by chance?
Couple tips:
>Try to find harmonics that resonate from each percussion and take em down with EQ
>Use the compressor by shortening the "release" to add more punch while having each transient (or the "smack") separate instead of blending in and muddying up the percussive sound you want.
>Use an expander to help reduce the noise between each of the percussions, the less bleed the better.
>If bleed can't be removed, just try to work WITH it instead. Pan your instruments according to your setup to bring out as much of the stereo image as you can.
>More mics = more control, but you don't need a lot to have a decent recording overall.

I don't have a strong opinion on this one.

Initially, I liked the idea of a concept album, but I don't think it's possible due to the amount of coordination required between musicians. What we know from the previous album is that people like to show up, post their tracks, then leave forever, so this idea may not be feasible if we want to make it good.

Perhaps it's not best to decide on how many songs will be on this album just yet.

After the success of this recent album, we might expect a lot more new talented folks joining in for the upcoming one as well as returning musicians from >No Fun Allowed.
Also, a predetermined number could limit the number of good songs.

"Oh man, these 5 songs are really awesome, but unfortunately we are already up to 30 songs so I guess we'll have to decide which of the 5 songs is better and reject the other 4."

I do think it's best to try and make this upcoming album shorter, but maybe we shouldn't decide how short it will be just yet. And hopefully #4 will help with making the album shorter.

What if the amount of songs on the album could be dependent entirely on how many of the submitted songs we feel deserved to be on the album? So if we receive 40 songs submitted but only ten of them are good, the album would be only ten tracks. If we get fifty songs that are all awesome, how about accepting all of them as long as they're good? So I think the number of songs on this upcoming album be decided by how many of the songs that get submitted are good enough for it.

Another option is that, in the case of only like ten songs being good for the album, we make exceptions to our "higher standard of quality" guideline and we can fill up the rest of the album with other random stuff like "Just For Kicks," "Rainblow Dash," ect. Stuff that's at least funny or fun to listen to or whatever.

The idea behind it is that, the longer you listen to the loop, the more meaning is stripped from the words which means that, when you go back and listen to the original clip, it sounds like the man's singing that one bit rather than just talking or hollering.
Thing is, I find the whole training part/the loops rather arduous to listen to before the effect works. I wonder whether more conventional music can be added to it to make it more palatable and, hopefully, also preserve this effect.
Of course, I'm not going to actually do this but it's an idea for another time.

I see it more like a gimmick and experimental music less as music but more like a catalogue of interesting ideas you can season your works with but I think it can be worked into an electronic genre (e.g: glitch-hop) using not-especially-tuneful MLP samples.
For example, structure can be this:
start off by playing the clip in full;
pre-drop music only uses loops from the latter half of the sample (as well as conventional music);
drop is the sample in full again (by this point, the first half won't sound tuneful but second half will);
post-drop is loops from first half of clip (and conventional music);
coming to the end of the song, use loops from all parts of the sample;

Because I'd gotten a little burned out on hybrid cinematic/epic orchestral, I decided to do another dark ambient EP, but the idea evolved beyond the scope of an EP and I got inspiration for a full album, still based on the structure of a typical Silent Hill story.

I'd also like to practice now for later on, provided I ever get hired for this sort of thing since I'm actually doing official work for another project, but I'm under NDA so there's not much I can say.
Aside from that, I looooove ambient horror, and I've got plenty of ideas for sound design.

Well, it's more of a cutscene, since it's more of an avoidance of this massive entity.
This will undergo some changes since I think the percussion could use some "muting" to blend in better with the music so it sounds a bit more like it's an amalgamate of sorts, and the ending is definitely gonna get axed in favor of something that flows more smoothly from the actiony part.
Other than that, I'm having tons of fun with this album, but now's when I start making the "otherworld" tracks, and this is going to be where things get really tricky.
