Gravity Falls was outstanding because it was planned as a two-seasons show. It's easier to write a good show if you know exactly what are you going to tell and how many episodes it'll take. Plus, it had only 2 seasons but they spend much more than 2 years doing them, so they have plenty of time to write a great story. In short, is really unfair to compare anything to Gravity Falls because it was more an artisans work than a typical show.

That being said, I still like MLP more than GF.

So I gave MLP a shot and my reaction to the show can be summed up with this simple image of Krusty the Clown

Before anyone asks what episode I went with I went with two episodes figuring maybe I just picked an off episode but no both were just as insane as the other episode.

I went with “Party of One” due to the fact I enjoy Yanderes, I may do a post about an episode featuring a "Dude" (Big Lebowski) and Doctor Who knockoff but for now here are my thoughts about

“Party of One”
The colors are bright and vibrant a real change from what I normally watch, I think the last show I saw with such light colors to it was maybe Lucky Star.

The episode seemed to center on Pinkie Pie’s over the top joyful nature and wanting to throw an after-party party and no one wants to show up, this drives her crazy and we also learn about another party going on at the same time.

This pushes her to a full on mental episode, integrating a dragon named Spike and making Rock Friends and friends out of a bucket while Pinkie Pie rambles and provides the voices of these new “Friends” of hers and at the end we see they were not trying to avoid her but they were setting up their own surprise party for Pinkie Pie.

You know maybe that is why when I brought this up online I was told this episode is why fans think she could go Yandere

In closing
The art was bright and meh.
The music was forgettable.
The voice acting was average.

How this got show get 6 seasons while another kid’s show that is far better only get 2? I rather have spent my time watching Gravity Falls but if anyone needs me I’ll be over here watching Higurashi: When They Cry

season 1 is largely just slice of life with no continuity because hasbro didnt want fans to be confused if they aired a random episode. the first 2 episodes do have a pretty important story though and introduce you to a lot of concepts youll see throughout the rest of the show.
seasons 1-3 all lead up to a special event and the beginning of show continuity, season 4 is the first season with a season-wide overarching plot, season 5 has its own overarching plot, and season 6 has its own overarching plot. as the show goes theres actual character development that isnt completely forgotten the next episode.

the main overarching plot across the entire show is twilights progression from student to teacher.
