Disappointing so far

I mean, don't get me wrong: GOH toys have been one of the best Hasbro has launched in a long time.

But like that anon said, the whole marketing is...confusing. They're supposed to be marketed at boys, but its like they have no idea how far they can (or should) go to avoid alienate more people.

In the end, you have products that are supposed to be for boys, but marketed under a "little girls" brand regardless of promotion, which ironically end in the collector shelves of bronies and horsefuckers.

Its still too early to tell, but GoH is starting to feel like wasted potential

I don't think its that bad; didn't hasbro get Target to put them in the boys section or something? That's going to help alot.

Plus, alot of the target audience likes the show and their parents know it; Parents will probably feel less self conscious about buying their son a pony toy if the packaging right, and alot of toys are just the parents saying "He likes this guy right?" and buying it for birthdays and shit.

I think it'll do well. Plus, lots of little girls love stuff that "do things". the Cheese sandwhich and Pinkie toys are girly enough that they'll sell very well to little girls.

Because hasbro initially thought the audience for FIM would be 4 year olds who didn't give a SHIT about quality and just wanted ponies to brush and have tea parties with.

Hasbro was initially flustered by the success of FIM in getting audiences for the show that they weren't used to, and kept expecting it to snap back to the "Status quo" of just 4 year olds again.

They're only gradually come to realize that its NOT going to snap back and if they make high quality toys the floor isn't just going to be pulled out from underneath them.

Its not about "Succeeding", its about "Not failing" to most executives. They won't take a risk unless they're fairly certain its going to pan out.

I don't think it's right to consider this only for boys. A lot of girls want this stuff too, and they will probably be the primary audience for this. A very large number of girls don't like typical girls toys, and this would be perfect for them.
It's good if boys also like it, but don't forget about the girls.
