SECOND ALBUM INFO:
Yes, we're planning on making another!
However, the general idea is to not make a duplicate of the first one. Time to try something new, ya know. Anyway, this means before we start, the guidelines need to be made. Here are the ideas that have been put forth:
>1. Keep the album pony related. This is a /mlp/plays album, not a 4chan album.
>2. There will be less songs in this album than the last one (20-30 at the moment)
>3. 1 song per person excluding collaborations
>4. Songs need to be original or redone covers. (No singing over instrumentals of other artists’ songs)
>5. Not another two years. Summer 2017 release.
Most of this is pretty self-explanatory, but we need to figure of what what constitutes "pony related" (for example, does that mean instrumentals are excluded? Those types of questions).
Other ideas:
>May concept album? Tells a story? Something?
>Limit the songs so they can all fit on one CD?
>Different charity?
>Work on marketing earlier on?

As a musician who would have these rules fully applied to me an my music if I were to contribute, I think that if you're going to bring instrumental stuff, or any kind of music that isn't a remix, or doesn't have MLP lyrics, then the work should be based on some kind of recognizable theme from the show. It doesn't have to be a cover. You can do a theme and variation, or write something that's the same style as one of the songs, like Winter Wrap up. Just need to be creative. I think the only stipulation is that the connection isn't vague or flimsy. To go back to the WWU example, you shouldn't say
>"I was inspired to write this flamenco guitar solo, because WWU had a guitar in it"
If you guys make a banging house track like vid related and still keep it club-friendly AND pony-related, I'd mix it in one of my local clubs I gig, and film the crowd reaction

I'm fucking tired of this EDM dubstep shit you can't mix at serious gigs.

What do you mean by 'club-friendly?'

>May concept album?
Maybe a story of the board's history.

dubs confirms?
But I kinda want to write pone music, not just /mlp/ music
>>27972022
House, techno, deep or anything with pounding rhythms without a hint of cheesy diva vocals or horrible dubstep drops.

Update to the instrumental on that one song
Is "a lyricist" still here? Cuz I'm far more of a poet than a songwriter

The album took two years to make and release and we only got one release celebration thread for it?
Psh.

This. I think Raine's remix of Luna's Future and Daydream's cover of "Tricks Up My Sleeve" and his Faust medley are good examples of favorable instrumentals.
>>27972077
I think "Mr. Bones' Wild Ride" covered that already.

Onward, to glory!
