Anyway the problem with the last 2 Rarity/Applejack episodes wasn't their dynamic, it was that they had some really stupid plots with almost no real conflict.

I disagree, because I feel like yeah, while you can't not show them interacting at all, I thought the whole point was they were all close friends. I think easily episodes can be skipped in exchange. I'm not saying they shouldn't interact for a season, that's dumb. But I think it's pretty simple to ask to not have a typical RariJack episode in exchange for something that's never come from the show. Because we know they're friends, but what about everyone else? What I don't like is thinking they're supposed to be so closely knit, and not seeing at least some basis of interaction between each of them.

For example, and since this is a Rarity thread we'll stick with her, but other pairings share this problem, how can you prove Rarity and Twilight are friends together, and not just group buddies? What interaction do they have in the show, or comics, or anything? It really feels like had it not been for the "group", they wouldn't hang out at all, and I think it's that kind of stuff that should be changed in the show. And it was like that with Rarity and Pinkie for some time but at least that changed. I think Rarity and Rainbow could spend maybe another episode together, but it's definitely most important to me to see Rarity and Twilight.

And for the record, the only Pony I actually slightly dislike is Fluttershy. Most of the rest of the stuff is being intentionally over the top. I learned long ago you can get way more people to see what you are saying if you go over the top, even if they don't exactly see you positively. That said I don't think I shit on other ponies too often, besides Fluttershy. What I'm wondering is why do they want Rarity to be unhappy? Think about it; if Spike were to eventually end up with her, she would have to spend years, maybe a decade, either alone or in relationships that will end horribly for her. Well the answer is pretty easy. As mentioned, Rarity's just a prize for Spike to win solely because Spike has a crush on her. In their minds, Rarity isn't a character, just a goal, so it doesn't matter as long as Spike gets what they think he wants, when the character itself wouldn't even.

Also, the only reason Spike has a crush on Rarity in the first place is because Faust just wanted to have a way to show off how beautiful Rarity was. It was never intended to be anything in the story, and that's why it never has nor will develop into anything.

Thanks, that's good to know because that's exactly what I'm writing. I'm making a bit more focus show on Rarity's fear of abandonment, and another thing I think works well, the fear that Twilight is above her. Then actually show Rarity corrupted, not just suddenly evil and then back to normal.
