Frankly, I think it's because I don't think we're making any progress towards it. It's a really long term goal and Emmy is a colt, he'll never have the magical ability to face his unicorn step-mom who's been doing this for years at least while still young.

None of the stuff we've been doing really helps towards revenge. No bigwigs owe us favors or anything like that, and even though we just met a retired lich who actually could have helped us with that, we never asked about it. If we had maybe fic would have set up a situation where he owes us one.
I guess I just wonder how fic will wrap this all up, with this really unrealistic and seemingly unattainable goal.

The secret to what happened to Emerald's parents, the amulet, and why Emerald is so important are all in the castle. Not to mention Vernator and his apprentice are also locked up somewhere there. One way or the other we will have to take the castle. It's the moral thing to do as all of Emerald's inheritance is currently being used to fund wars. Apparently working with demons is a whole field of study in this world that, while isn't like by some groups like the arrows, it also doesn't necessarily seemed banned either. As far as I can tell anyway.

Sure they're supposed to be up to something really bad because they're the main antagonist. But it hasn't been stressed that no normal mage could do these things or that is a really big deal. So I kinda don't care, because their lack motivation isn't enough. I guess I just need to know more about what they're going to do or why they're going to do it.

I get that and it's cool. I got no problem with getting joy's orgasm potion, or it being something we're doing while learning about Emmy's real parents and finding out the true intent of Emmy's step-parents.
But Joy's quest is a bit bothersome when it takes us out of the antagonist's influence where they have no huge stakes and not much about them should be known. As far as we can tell anyway. Maybe we'll meet some zebra nobles or an arcane type of pony who would know his step-mom, but we can't even ask about it because we don't even know her name. (I think, maybe it was brought up in the flashback and I forgot.)

You have no proof of any of this, and to be honest I don't care about the rest, it's just more stuff to do. Stuff I might add that just doesn't seem doable, at least not without skipping years later into the quest where Emmy would have a better means of doing what he wants to do as far as magical ability or being able to be taken seriously goes.
I'd be all for it otherwise just for the sake of doing stuff.
