It was probably AJ's second best singing performance. Her first being Auld Lang Syne from that Christmas album, but that's such a high bar that the SotP is very strong on it's own.

It's the only episode that I think I've ever purposefully watched repeatedly in any short period of time. I think since it aired I've at least listened to the audio of it at least 40 times while doing other things. Sat down and watched it like 15 times and get that great feeling every time.

Only serves to remind me that MLP still has that magic.

That episode really was amazing.

The adaptation of A Christmas Carol within the MLP universe wasn't entirely seamless, and the pacing was very fast, but man, the feels and atmosphere were just palpable. Strictly in terms of visuals and sound, it's probably the best episode in the series.

You can never have too many adaptations of A Christmas Carol. It's such a masterpiece of a story.

My favorite is probably The Muppets.

This season had so many great songs, but my favorite is Say Goodbye to the Holiday.

I did like how the consequences were actually palpable, albeit, quite a bit darker.

The Christmas Carol is about some bitter rich snob getting humbled, and the Grinch, which I think this ep also takes a bit of inspiration from, is about some shut in outcast thinking stealing christmas decorations stops a holiday.

This was about a somewhat good intentioned, but rather pretentious workaholic super wizard attempting to remove all public memory of a holiday whose very purpose is to celebrate the defeat, and prevent the return of creatures that nearly exterminated their entire race, if not all life on the planet, on the mere whimsical desire of removing the excuse to slack off or travel for the holiday's sake. It was serious to the point of having supernatural entities intervene and show her the sheer magnitude of her stupidity.

I liked that fantastical angle. Definitely made the Spirit of the Future's part have a much more profound impact with Luna basically saying "You idiot, we're in magic pony land of COURSE world-ending winter horses are real! Now everyones gonna die because of you so I hope you have a great apocalypse, wank stain."

The consequences were very dark, and I like how it ties into the already established lore of the show, but sadly they don't relate to the past and present as well as they did in the book. In the book, it was absolutely necessary to show Scrooge what he was missing from his youth, what he was currently missing out on in the present, and the consequences of his actions in the future. In the MLP version, simply taking Starlight to the future to show the consequences of her spell would have been enough. The past and the present really weren't that necessary to prevent her casting the spell.

It's a minor complaint though. Overall, the episode is top-tier. Seeds Of The Past gives me feels, Pinkie's Present gives me joy, and Luna's Future gives me chills. It's visually stunning, and it ties in well with the overall universe.

Can't really ask for more.

Also, Pinkie Pie curing Tiny Tim of his limp and tap-dancing with him was a nice touch.

I think the entirety of A Hearth's Warming Tail might just be Ingram's best work since 2012's Find A Pet Song, Becoming Popular, and This Day Aria. It's probably his best chance yet of finally winning an Emmy.
