- tail connects too far up and would benefit from improved physics and volume (it won't curve that tight unless she's making it, and it doesn't seem to fit the mood)

What's wrong with his teeth? No idea what the cutiemark is supposed to be but I can see a satellite dish in there maybe? You should keep the eyes one hue - or at least transition between them more smoothly. His hair and continue around the other side of his head, and could have some more bulk behind the ear - looks like he's missing a bit of his head. Neck too fat, the back of his neck should probably curve into the back of his head. Tiny, noodle arms. I think that the colours are hideous together.

What program are you using? If it can have multiple layers, you should make the sketch layer translucent and practice making long strokes instead of thousands of tiny ones. For colours, I like to find photos I like and eyedrop the colours from that.

So here's one of my drawings, both the sketch and the "poorly outlined and coloured" version.

There are no shadows( cuz' I suck at drawing them), so obviously it has no sense of deepness. But just the outlines and colours... They seem not to match and look generic and plain as fuck. I don't know if it's either my drawings that don't allow good outlines or just me being an absolute shit at drawing. I'm not eager to draw mindblowing artworks but just some nice pics, and I haven't got a clue about how properly use my tools and make something good.

I'm not an expert in lighting but there is something wrong with your light source.

If it's supposed to be a punctual one above and behind her (like a candle or a ligthbulb), then you should rework her horn shadow, create an ear shadow and modify a little bit.

Pic related is light from above and behind.

This will be a bitch to come up with, but will give an intimate feel.

Top-tier advice here. Copy other color schemes from good artists until you develop your own feeling and foundation. Remember that a color can never stand alone. A color is only as good as the color next to it.

Really just push through these obstacles. A lot of questions people ask can be solved on their own just by drawing and painting a lot. If I were to give any advice on coloring it would be to start with desaturated colors and work your way up to more saturated in a work. Be patient. Experiment. I'm hardly a "high level drawfag" though.

If I were to say anything about the image you posted is to clean up the lines just a tiny bit better. I see a lot of line tips that need to be cleaned up like around twilight's mane. Little things like that can change the shape entirely if you're not careful.

This is pretty solid man. If I were to nitpick I'd say the eye needs to be a tad closer to the bridge of the muzzle. Horn is a bit too thick for my taste. The thigh closest to the viewer has a weird shape. The top line that is near the tail makes it look like the tail is overlapping the thigh and giving it an bizarre look. You're also missing a joint in her left foreleg. Always put down your joints before fleshing things out. It'll save you some headaches.

For a first try this is great!

This is my way, so don't take what I say as granted.

-The tip of the horn is a little too round, try to make it a bit more pointy.

-You can extend a bit the mane as well (fancy detail)

-The nose ridge should also be a little more perpendicular to the forehead.

-The eye should be higher and closer to the forehead.

-The legs. They kinda spread the more they get close to the floor. The goal is to make them wider where they hit the floor than where they "sprout" from the body.

No, I started with krita and moved to alpaca precisely because it's a sai clone. I had a lot of the advantage of sai but without the moral conundrum of stealing it. I did the trial for sai and didn't like it that much.

I tried Sai which seemed a LOT easier than PS, and i must admit I 'stole' it because I didn't really know any other painting software.
