Twilight: I can't really believe your story Anon, buildings with over 100 levels? Flying boats bigger than Ponyville? And yet there's no magic in your world? Please.
>Growing tired of Twilight's berating, you go out into the world to prove her wrong.

That's the prompt that started it all. So what is thread about? It's about Anon bring human science and inventions to Equestria and a disbelieving Twilight.

>Today started like any other day
>But there was something special about today
>Twilight had called a town meeting
>What for?
>Nobody knew for sure
>All she told us was that today marked the beginning of a new era in flight
>Naturally Rainbow Dash was excited
>In one of the nearby fields there was something hidden under a large canvas sheet
>And you're pretty sure you know what it is

>A few weeks ago she came over to visit
>It was the first time you let anyone in after you and your apartment suddenly appeared in ponyville
>While she was over she intrigued by a poster you had hanging on the wall
>It was of Roy Brown's Sopwith Camel vs The Red Baron's Fokker Dr.I
>She was surprised to learn we has such flying machines
>She was even more surprised to learn that the poster was of planes around 100 years old
>She wanted to learn everything about this new way to fly
>Unfortunately you weren't some living encyclopedia that could tell her everything
>All you could tell her were the basics
>Stuff like how they moved forward (propellers pushing the air)
>How they maneuvered in the air (Flaps that redirect the air)
>When she asked "Why does The Fokker have 3 wings to the Sopwith's 2"
>You didn't know but you guessed that more wings equals more lift
>Ever since then she had been busy working on some "top secret" project

>It seems like today will be the day we see her progress
>Twilight walks on to the stage
>"Mares and gentlecolts I would like say thank for joining with me on this soon to be historic day"
>She sure seems pleased with herself
>"For you see thanks to Anon I learned of a whole new type of flying machine"
>Rainbow dash seems to deflate a little at that.
>Guess she wanted something that could improve her own speed
>"Machines that can move faster than any flying ship"
>That slightly perks her up at the mention of speed
>"Machines that humans have used and improved upon for over hundred"
>"I present to the first airplane! And it's first flight"
>She used her magic to lift the sheet up and reveal her masterpiece

>you recognize the colors on that airship

>now only scraps of the superstructure remain, poking out of the bin

>Optical lenses suffered severe damage due to impact trauma to your head.
>The same impact that broke the machinery in your right arm and leg, leaving you with nothing but worthless organics hanging off the side of your body.
>There's a gaping hole in the front of your torso, and something is wrong with your back, leaving you in perpetual agony.
>Surrounded by nothing but silence, you can only wait here for rescue.
>On some desolate, unmarked planet, and your unremarkable ship and self, who would come looking for you?
>How long have you been out here?
>Being a Cyborg has its drawbacks, such as being very hard to kill, having no painkillers, and being forced to live through every agonizing moment of this slow death.
>Since you’re connected to a power source that is basically limitless, you won’t be dying due to a lack of charge any time soon.
>You’ve tried moving, but your servos are too weak, and your body is too heavy.
>Only one good arm, left leg isn’t doing too well anymore, organics failing in that one.
>Should have gotten more implants.
>You hear a distant bang of metal.
>Curious, the ship has been totally silent for years, now.
>Perhaps someone is searching the ship for survivors, or scrap.
>Either one will be a release from this torment.
>You activate a homing beacon using what is left of your innards, and start to hit the metal floor that you now lay on.
>On this backwater planet, whoever is looking through the ship might not have anything advanced to pick up your beacon, so you’d rather be sure that they know that someone else is here.
>Then again, the noise you’re making could scare whoever is in the ship away.
>Hopefully anyone who would bother searching through an old ship isn’t a complete coward.
>Soon enough, the distant clangs start getting closer.
>This ship isn’t very large, maybe 200 meters long, and 70 wide.
>A clang is close enough that it sounds like it’s in the same room as you, and a female voice soon accompanies it.
>>
>>27561732
>You only recently discovered this cave, and already it has surpassed all your expectations.
>Its walls, floors, and ceilings are all made of some dark metal that seems to absorb all light.
>The light spell you have hovering around fails to bring about reflections and shadows in the cave.
>As you walk along, your hooves catch on some scrap laying about on the floor and loudly clangs around as it rolls away.
>You hear a distant banging, not like falling debris, but a constant rhythmical banging.
>Maybe there’s someone in here?
>You hastily walk through the strange metal cave, passing several blinking lights and strange rooms that you’ll have to look through later.
>Soon you come to a room with a figure against the wall on the far side of the room from the entrance.
>Your spell illuminates a bipedal figure sitting against the wall, with one of its metal arms banging on the floor, and the other seemingly fused with the wall, along with the rest of its back.
“Hello?”
>The sound of a sharp intake of air causes you to jump, but is soon followed by a voice from the body in the wall.
>”I am here,” it says slowly and quietly.
>You walk a little closer to it and feel a little sick as you see body more clearly.
>It seems to mostly be made of metal, but you can still see some flesh here and there, facial features, some organs, and meat bits.
>The torso is open, eyes are gone, one of its legs is torn to shreds and the other seems fine.
“What’s your name?”
>It goes silent for a moment before another intake of air, followed by a voice coming from somewhere in its body.
>”I am currently, Anonymous.”
“Well, Anonymous, it looks like you need some help.”
>The figure gives a stiff nod, losing some strange material that fuses most of its body to the wall.
“I think we should get you fixed up as soon as possible.”
>Its torso heaves and it sucks in more air.
>”Replacement only option, impossible otherwise.”
>>
More possibly on the way, might take some time.

“Well, do you know where I can find some replacement parts?”
>”No.”
>You sigh and take a few steps back, trying to step around some more metal parts.
>None of these parts even resemble the limbs on Anonymous.
“Would any of the rooms in this ship contain replacement parts?”
>”Possibly,” it says slowly.
>You take some slow steps back into the hallway that you ran down to get into this room.
>How can you fix that thing up?
>You’re Twilight sparkle, you know how to use spells, not fix strange machines.
>Wait… maybe you won’t need parts.
>You walk back into the room with the machine and see it picking at the material holding it against the wall.
“Alright, I think I can get you out of here and then come back here for the parts, I’d rather not leave you unattended.”
>”Very well, if you are sure.”
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”
>Usually you do…
>You slowly surround Anonymous with magic, figuring out where his body ends and where the wall begins.
>The material fusing him to the wall breaks down as you carefully pulverize it, and lift him gently from his spot, leaving a deep indent on the wall.
“Are you okay?” You say, trying not to break your concentration.
>”Whatever you are doing, do not stop.”
>You chuckle a bit and detach several cables going into Anonymous’s back.
>Carefully, you guide him through a doorway and up the hallway.
>Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.
>Carrying him all the way back to ponyville will be tough.
>But it will be worth it, you have so many questions to ask him.
>You’ve never seen anything quite like him.
>Soon you bring him all the way out of the mouth of the cave.
“Mind if I put you down? It’s getting hard to concentrate, don’t want to drop you,” you grunt out.
>”Do so slowly, and gently.”
>You follow his instructions as best as you can, slowly putting him up against a tree in roughly the same position that you found him.
>>
>>27562042

>He settles in reasonably well against the tree and you take a seat on the ground in front of him with a few feet between the two of you.
>Despite his ghastly appearance, you can’t help but feel fascinated by him in some way.
>After a few moments of silence, he breaks it.
>”Curious, how did you move me?”
“Well, with magic of course.”
>His head tilts, seemingly in confusion.
>”Magic?”
“Yes, are you not familiar with it?”
>”There is no such thing as… magic.”
>You chuckle some.
“Of course there is, how else could I have moved you?”
>He remains silent, maybe he’s thinking?
“Is there no magic from where you come from?”
>”None.”
>A world without magic?
“What do you have if you don’t have magic?”
>”Advanced technology.”
>You look back at the cave for a moment.
>So, is this even a cave?
“How did you get here?”
>”The ship that I was in.”
>You had a good feeling that was no cave.
>Well, now you feel like you can concentrate a little better, with more questions answered.
“Ready to get going again?”
>Anonymous gives a weak nod.
>Carefully, you envelope him in your magic and gently lift him off the ground.
>Soon you’re making good progress as you float him around, avoiding trees and anything that might hit him.
>Ponyville isn’t too far from here, and you can probably get the others to help you with getting parts back from the ship, maybe fill a wagon with them and you can figure out what goes where in his body.
>You’ve thought about a world without magic, though maybe for a bipedal creature it isn’t so bad, especially one that has hands.
>Maybe he can share his knowledge of technology with you and the other ponies, and tell fascinating stories of another world.
>Telling him about your world should also be fun, he’ll probably be amazed by the capabilities of magic.
>Hopefully he’ll fit into Ponyville well enough.

He hardly gets any praise around here anymore. I like his story concept, but the way it was executed wasn't the best. If I wrote it, I would have had Anon in the last days of the war, just after ep 3. He's fleeing from the war, taking his fleet into an undiscovered part of the galaxy. Kinda like the sepnon story from the old SW threads, he sends some ships to cover their trail while he lands his troops and begins to manipulate the local populace into fighting each other, while reaping all of the benefits for himself. Might sound stupid, but I think that when he comes back, he should take this into consideration when he does that rewrite.

>”Kraaaaaaaa!”

>You are Spike.
>You are unphased.

“Guh...”

>That may have been a lie.
>A wave of exhaustion wracks your body.
>The guttural screech rang throughout the sky, chilling everyone to the bone.
>Then came the void.
>The cold, empty darkness in the pit of your stomach.
>You've never felt this way before, but somehow you know.
>Your fire has gone out.
>More and more magic left the world until finally, naught but the dregs remained.
>Ponies all around you collapse from exhaustion.
>And still you stand.
>You can feel it, the horrible aching coursing throughout your entire being.
>The meaty bits at least.
>The absence of magic is by no means comfortable.
>But the machines that have replaced your flesh will not yield.
>You've often wondered just how much of your organic body remained.
>The changes to your outside are striking enough.
>But you've never seen the inside.
>Now you have some idea.
>Your thoughts are clear and your senses sharp.
>Your memories are hazy, and many of your muscles lax.
>But your mechanical half- your better half is uninhibited.
>The rest of the world may be crippled by arcane depletion.
>But you?
>You're just ANGRY.

>”Uugh...”

>You ignore Twilight as she struggles to move.
>She needs magic, and you cannot provide.
>Instead, you write.

“I need access to all your facilities.”

>”What?”

“It’s urgent.”

>”No.”

“I wasn't asking. Do it now if you want to stand a chance in the fight to come.”
>>
>>27574528
>”Stand a chance? I wield the fires of creation; I build STARS to fuel my wrath. I am the indisputable master of the physical realm, the fabric of reality itself bends to my will. Were it my wont I’d be able to reduce this entire world to dust. How might a being of mere flesh withstand that might? How could ANYTHING match the power I wield?”

“By devouring the magical potential of the entire world.”

“Look around. What do you see? Is it creatures of every description passed out, lying in the dirt. Gasping desperately to pull breath. And where are their friends, their family, their loved ones? Where are the ones who should be helping them? Struggling to even move, no doubt. They didn't all decide to take a nap at once. They've been drained of their magic, of the very power that sustains them. Frankly I fear for their safety. They cannot live without at least some magic, no more than they can live without breath. But that is a concern for later! Right now we need to deal with the monster that did this to them, the beast that now wields all of their magic. You say your power is unmatched, but can you honestly beat the whole world's might? I know your ways better than anyone else in the world, and I know magic better than you. You can't do this on your own.”

“You've suffered magical attacks before. That meteor storm that crushed me? Two ponies. What comes next will be thousands of times greater.”

>”Don't worry. About their safety, I mean. You don't slaughter your breeding stock. And yes, I do have enough power to crush that.”

“And if it’s been siphoning our magic for thousands of years? What then? What if our entire world exists to feed this one creature? What if our entire history amounts to nothing more than food? Can you fight that?”

>”Yes.”

“And can you do so without your creator getting caught in the crossfire?”

>”That is… a valid concern. Tell me your suggestions.”
>>
>>27574536
“It would be faster if you just let me-”

>”No. Far too risky. These Titan creatures aren’t so far beyond my understanding as you might think. It has full access to all the knowledge of my creator, but must actively seek out information to make use of it. It cannot learn anything without first knowing it is there to learn. So too with I and the datalinks. It draws strength from its creation, draining energy from others to do its will. So too with I and my machines. It solves its problem with billions of tools rather than resorting to a select few. How many ponies are there to drain? How many dragons? Changelings, gryphons, buffalo… I’m sure you’ve noticed that I too tend towards quantity. It hides in the shadows and works from afar, using proxies to do its will. I’m not even on your world anymore. Trust me, I know the limitations these approaches bring, but more importantly, I know how this thing thinks. There are… nearly three quadrillion machines in my control and I can order them to do ANYTHING at will. I’ve little doubt these Titans can do something similar. It created you, or at least designed your blueprint. It knows you better than you know yourself. It knows how you work, how you think, and more importantly it knows how to manipulate you. For all I know, hell, for all YOU know, it’s already in charge. My creator trusts you a great deal, perhaps he’d be willing to grant you access to my network. But you may have been compromised. I’ll not grant you direct power, but I am willing to take your council. What must I do?”

>Almost as though most of it weren't even there.
>It would need to examine this creature later.
>But for now…

SLEEP.

>A trace amount of magic worked its way into the half dragon's skull, and probed around.
It sought a very specific ganglion, a nerve cluster that was placed specifically for this one purpose.
>To facilitate control.
>But there was nothing but metal there.
>The impossible mesh of metal and flesh rubbed its head as pain ran through its head.
>Then, it braced itself.
>It stood tall atop the strangely glowing box and glared at the Titan with its cold, dead eye.
>It raised both claws high in the air.
>And extended the middle digit of each one.
>A vertical seam opened up on the Titan as the shell split in two.
>A gooey mass of pink flesh wreathed in light lay within, slowly pulsating.
>It was preparing to drain the thing totally of its magic.
>Such disrespect would not be forgiven.
>Unnamed ichor slowly dripped to the ground below the beast as it prepared its spell.
>Thousands of beams of light drop from the heavens, burning away the flesh within.

“Graaaaah!”
>>
>>27574554
>The shell snapped closed, smoke wafting skyward as the Titan levitated itself higher.
>It sought out the source of magic that so boldly wounded it as the beams harmlessly reflect off its smooth exterior.
>It found nothing but the void of space.
>There was only one possible source then.
>The not ape.
>It wielded a strange power that the nameless neonate had grown fascinated with.
>Something that defied its understanding of reality.
>It dug through the puny being’s miniscule brain seeking answers.
>The inconceivably vast stores of knowledge it held always proved a surprise.
>So much information stored in such a paltry brain.
>Fractured, distorted information that needed to be reconstructed with each recall.
>But an impressive amount nonetheless.
>It found an incredible memory, one of lights meant to burn flesh.
>Of machines that destroyed matter itself.
>Of flying weapons that forgot to fall.
>Of innumerable tools of death which could very well rival the most destructive spells in existence.
>And each of these memories were associated with the same thoughts.
>Temporary.
>Crude.
>Prototype.
>The Titan was conflicted.
>Torn between respect, and an emotion it was never meant to experience.
>Fear…
>It had been hundreds of generations since any of their kind had felt that.
>Somewhere, deep within the most primitive parts of its brain, the flesh that grew naturally before this being’s ancestors had first cast their spells to rework their genome…
>It demanded action.
>The Titan began firing bolts of mana wildly towards the heavens in the hopes of thinning out the lights from above.
>Then came they volley of flame.
>Thousands of small flying machines swarmed out from the dome below, and from them small projectiles burst forth.
>Blasts of inconceivable proportions bombarded the Titan, blowing off chunks of its shell.
>An immediate instinctual response, one programmed in 12 generations ago, threw up a magical shield around its body.
>>
>>27574562
>The top of the metal dome came apart, gaping holes opening as projectiles tore through the skies.
>The Titan threw its magical force at them, desperately trying to slow them down.
>But the harder it pushed, the harder they pushed back.
>The slugs tore through its flesh, sending violent shockwaves through the delicate innards.
>But this flesh had been specifically designed to be mended by magic.
>The wounds began closing even as the volley continued.
>Before long, the beast began to tire.
>It knew it couldn’t withstand this torture forever.
>It had to destroy the machines launching those projectiles.
>The not ape would likely be lost in the process, and would no longer be useable for study.
>A shame, but there are apparently many many others.
>It levitates higher into the sky, bullets all the while tearing through its body.
>On the inside of its shell a vast array of specialised cells began glowing, drawing the spell sigil it would use.
>The entirely instinctual process quickly adjusted for the wounds; the gaping holes in its shell ruining the primary pathways that it would normally use.
>A shockwave descended on the dome below, flattening huge portions of inconceivably complex machinery.
>The metal drake yelled some words that were lost to the din of the destruction, and slammed its claws down upon the glowing box.
>Hundreds of rockets descended from the sky, shattering the sound barrier as their thrusters lit up the afternoon night sky.
>A pathetic attempt at violence compared to the other munitions that were so recently at play.
>A bolt of raw mana collided with the first, causing it to erupt into a dense cloud of…
>Arcane dust.
>Ground up magically conductive gems.
>The next bolt came, and dissipated into a brilliant flash of light
>The dark mid-day sky was illuminated painfully across half the globe as more and more spells tried and failed to destroy the incoming rockets.
>>
>>27574568 (You)
>One slammed into the Titan, its shield spell flowing through the airborne material.
>It wasn’t enough; the energy ionized the dust before the creature’s magical reserves could be bled dry.
>But then came another, and another, and hundreds more.
>Incredible brilliance illuminated the world, blinding what few observers still had strength to watch the battle.
>Until finally…
>A small charred hunk of shell fell to the ground below, the dust raining down on the smoldering heaps of twisted metal that once made the Sanctuary.
>And all was silent.

That's it. Paste is way out of date but I haven't decided where to break it to start part 3.

I'm moderately pleased with how this one turned out. Not worth the shitshow that it took to set it up in my opinion, but it's over now. If you have questions about the events of this dump I plan on the characters discussing it next time, so don't worry about it too much. Hopefully I managed to get the important stuff down clearly enough that you'll follow without needing the followup, but even if not... meh.

Yes. Their lifecycle is absurd. I know.

Ah. An understandable concern, but you are mistaken. You seem to have confused me with a manatee.

>>
>>27574592
I think it was easy enough to follow. Just remember how stupid the average person is, and that 49% of people are even stupider.

Tbh it's a very interesting conceptual lifecycle. Using an entire planet as a shell, and slowly siphoning the energies of its inhabitants is pretty clever.

I'm looking forward to the abject terror the ponies will have when they realize that Anon straight up BTFO a Titan.

>>
>>27574660
I think it was fine either way desu.
You should keep writing because I need entertainment.
>>
>>27574649
I would do well to remember this 49% thing. That and that nobody will put as much thought into my works as myself, so seemingly obvious details are likely to be missed. Any aspiring writefags should take note.

And thanks. It was an interesting challenge to try and convey the workings of a completely fictional species in such a way. Relying on descriptions and thoughts rather than an actual exposition that might feel like a lecture.

>>27574667
As I said, minor tweak. Probably wouldn't have bothered anybody, but saying that stuff was 'below' twice in one sentence seemed excessive.
And don't worry, I intend to keep writing. I've already got another story in the early stages of outlining, though this one might yet last a fair while. I'm pretty much the worst when it comes to predicting how many words plot points will use. As an example, this story is already 6 times as long as I planned on it being.

It isn't *explicitly* required, however you will be hard pressed to write green for this thread without Anon.

Worth noting that, although this is Tech in Equestria, Anon doesn't have to bring technology to equestria. One story that I really want continued had Anon bringing Earth's culture (music, books and stuff) to equestria.

Not bad. You constantly use the wrong form of your/you're, and there are other smaller errors as well, but overall the story itself is decent.

There's a very relaxing feeling to your story. It doesn't help you post at around midnight for me so it puts me right to sleep.
>>
>>27575228
>>27575705
>>27575903

Not over. Final act begins now. How long that will be is anybody's guess.

>>27576627
Then I have succeeded. Thank you.

>You are Anonymous.
>You are absolutely terrified.
>And broken.
>And bloodied.
>And poisoned.
>It’s not a good day to be you.
>Last thing you remember you REALLY wanted to disable all your weapons systems and present yourself for vivisection.
>Now you find yourself strapped down to a table with far more wires and tube wrapped around your person than you care for.
>You draw a deep breath through the tube shoved into your lungs.
>Even with the drugs coursing through your veins you feel like warmed over death.
>You activate your implants and check the datalinks.

>You are in worse shape than you'd expected.
>The kinetic surge that flattened most of your base was mostly absorbed by your armor.
>And the E.M. radiation from the Titan dying, the massive burst of heat and light, didn't do much damage thanks to the shielding and internal climate controls.
>And still you've massive, widespread spontaneous necrosis all throughout your body.
>It appears your concerns had some validity to them.
>This strange energy is vital to their biology, and hazardous to yours.
>You've never been directly exposed to anything more than background levels before.
>At least, not for more than a few seconds.
>Having it directly used on your body was bad enough. Being so close when that clam thing started leaking it everywhere only made things worse.
>You'd sorta been hoping to augment yourself with their power once you figured it out. That's still worth considering, but it just got more complicated.
>You'll need much more data before you can determine how much is safe.
>But for now…
>Probably best if you keep your distance.
>Hanging out in space seems like a good idea.

>You need to build that gate.
>It's been months.
>>
>>27603890
>The mission was long enough that that might not have been noticed yet; they could well believe you had to make a course correction.
>But the people back home are going to start thinking you're dead before long.
>Assuming they remember you're out here.
>But you'll need to rebuild an awful lot before that's even an option.
>Thankfully, this time you're not starting from scratch.
>And hopefully, this time you won't need to fight.
>Those laser satellites should keep your stuff safe from the wildlife.
>And you've got a decent foundation to work with thanks to the orbital industries.
>Your other you has been busy.
>But you can't rely on it to do everything.
>They went dormant pretty much the instant you were safe.
>Funny thing about having no emotion or desires. You tend not to do much of anything without them.
>It would have been nice if he’d gotten rid of the boneheads, but you can’t have it all.
>You’ll quickly put something together to keep them away.
>What remains of your gear should be plenty, you don’t need to have everything rebuilt.
>So you can afford to put it off for a little while.
>Tomorrow you'll start rebuilding the Sanctuary.
>Tomorrow.
>For now?
>You're going to watch satellite footage of the Titan dying.
>It's calming to just watch the bastard exploding.
>Over. And over. And over. And over…
>You are Twilight Sparkle.
>You are being shaken awake.
>Fairly gently.

“I feel sick, mommy…”

>”I'm not your mommy. If anything you could be argued to be mine.”

>You reluctantly open your eyes.
>A hideous mesh of metal and flesh is staring down at you.

“Waugh!”

>You try to get up- to run!
>But your legs just won't carry you.
>It doesn't move as you try, and fail to get out of your cot.
>Wait…

“Oh. Sorry, Spike. I- I had a bad dream.”

>He just looks at you.
>It's so hard to read his face now…
>Maybe he bought it?
>With all he's been through, all he's about to go through…
>You don't want him to feel shunned.
>>
>>27603896
>Even if he does creep you out.
>His life will be hard enough with what comes next…

“So… that’s it then. We failed. They’re back…”

>You don’t feel as scared as you expected.
>Defeated, depressed, ashamed…
>But not scared.
>Perhaps it’s the inevitability?
>The certainty of the times ahead bring dread, but when you already know exactly what’s going to happen...

>”Naa. Titan’s super dead.”

>What?

“How?”

>”A barrage of high altitude MIRVs containing about half a tonne of arcane dust per warhead. My own personal design. Well, based on my own design.”

>You didn’t exactly understand that.
>But you get the feeling it would take a while to explain.
>You’ll ask later.

“How did I wind up in bed?”

>”That helped.”

>He gestures lazily toward a massive suit of…

“Luna! “

>”Is still sleeping. She got it worse than you. The armor brought her here, helped me get everypony indoors, and then just shut down. It's been standing there stock still for hours.”

>If Spike was creepy, this is terrifying!
>A black, featureless face staring right at you.
>You’ve been told it has the same cannon that shattered your shield.
>The one that made a crater in the ground from a single claw gesture.
>The one that could vaporise you at a moment's notice.
>No eyes to blink.
>No mouth to smile, or to snarl.
>No-

>”Can you walk?”

>You begin to move your legs, much more calmly this time.
>With some trouble you find yourself standing up a few minutes later.

>”Great, ‘cause you gotta go home now.”

“Wh- what Why?”

>”Follow me.”

>He leads you to the door, patiently waiting as you slowly make your way across the floor.

>”Right. I don’t want you to freak out or anything, so I’m going to give you a warning. We’ve been, uhh, invaded. There’s an army out there.”

“WHAT?”

>He pushes the door open before you have a chance to ask for details.
>You see them.
>>
>>27603926
>Hordes of lifeless machines, each modelled to look like a giant version of ape.
>All except for the missing head.
>The unpainted steel shines dimly in the starlight as their upper appendages stick straight forward.
>Some of them turn to face you.
>The legs- arms they’ve got pointed at you have a brilliant blue light emitting from the tip,
>On its front in glowing red text you see the message.

[BONEHEADS GO HOME. T-6376 S]

“Wha- why?”

>”C’mon, I’ll walk you down to the train.”

“But-”

>”No. Let’s get going. They’re clearly designed to intimidate rather than fight, but I think you probably want to do what he says anyway.”

>He firmly pulls on his leg, demanding you follow.
>You take one cautious step forward. Then another.
>When they don’t react- when they don’t kill you, you let out a breath you didn’t know you’d been holding.
>Your heart is racing.
>Your blood is cold.
>Being escorted through the scores of murderous machines by yet another machine...

>”Try not to be too upset with him. Imagine where he’s coming from. He comes to this world totally unarmed and everything keeps trying to kill him. Then, just when he’s convinced he’s safe, something turns him into a puppet. Starts to dig around in his head.”

>You’ve started going downhill towards the train station.
>They aren’t following you…

>”They don’t have mind control or any kind of telepathy at all. They can’t read minds, at least from what I can tell. His head’s been totally private for his whole life, and then something comes along and violates him. Starts changing things. Maybe even left some permanent changes, he has no way of knowing.”

>They’re still not following.
>You’re still scared.
>But the mind numbing terror has passed.
>Now you can at least think clearly enough to follow what Spike’s saying.
>>
>>27603936
>”And what’s worse is that he doesn’t understand how it happened at all. Or how to protect himself. The fear that you felt when he marched in here and ate your super-spell without even flinching, the horror of seeing him rip Celestia’s infernals apart with ease… How did you feel when he first demonstrated those explosive rounds? The ones that could wipe out canterlot with a single shell, the size of one of your teeth? There was a clear and present danger to you, you had no idea how to stop it, how it worked, when it would come back... That’s how he’s feeling right now. The main difference is that he’s sending you home on a train instead of in a hearse.”

“Why would he call us such an awful name?”

>He opens his mouth for a moment, words clearly on the tip of his tongue.
>He shakes his head and lets out a deep sigh.

>”I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t even know it’s an insult, and it’s easier than saying ‘anypony with a horn’. Doesn’t need to specify alicorns too, or exempt Luna; she’s allowed to stay, I already asked. Or maybe he’s just lashing out. If the worst thing that comes of this is that he calls you a mean name you should consider yourself lucky.”

>His words do little to assuage your fears.
>If it’s that afraid of magic, who’s to say he won’t hunt down magic users?
>It certainly could.
>You arrive at the train, parked at the station.
>You see no activity around it, no signs that it’ll be moving any time soon.
>It’s strange to see it so lifeless. When it passes through Ponyville there’s always such a flurry of activity about it.
>Boarding, departing, baggage handling…
>Here it just looks like…
>Like another machine.

>”Think you can get on board on your own? I need to head back up.”

“What? You’re not coming home with me?”
>>
>”Not yet. There are a few other unicorns to bring down here, but after that… we’ll see. Somepony needs to negotiate with him, and he’s not scared of me. Unlike you, he knows how I work. You of all ponies should understand the peace of mind that comes with that.”

>He gives you a quick hug around the leg, his warm scales sharply contrasting the cool metal.

>”Don’t worry, I’ll have Luna with me. Don’t overwork yourself, Twilight!”

>Then, he starts running back up the hill.
>You slowly make your way up the platform and board the train.
>It’s mostly empty.
>Except for a few guards trying- failing to raise their spears.
>And a very familiar face.

>“At ease. It’s good to see you well, Twilight.”

>A small smile creeps on your face. The first in far too long.

“Hello, Cadance.”

That's it. Writefag needs to run.

"Sapere" means to be wise. Sapient means wise and self-aware.
"Sentire" means to feel. Sentient means able to perceive and feel.

>You just sit around for a moment trying to forget the light discomfort in your gullet, staring at the sunrise that is now upgraded to just sun, you lay in the grass allowing Twilight to study the contours of your face and light 5 o'clock shadow, forgetting your uncomfort until it is unbearable enough that you decide to face it, like a room that you're too comfortable to clean.
>You slowly turn your head, you swear you heard creaking coming from deep in your neck.
"I'd like to cash in on that breakfast now, if that's fine."
>"Ye-yeah! That's, that's fine, but I need one thing out of you… first."
>She's very nervous, you decide, based on the fact that that perfect circle of a voice formed right into a triangle.
"Yeah, what is it?"
>You squint a bit after noticing something.
>Her fur, you notice, turns a bit red, as if it was skin. You deduce that the awkward tone is connected to that.
>Also, you notice, that her eyes might have changed color, but that might've been the contrasting tones of her purple face.
>You can personally relate to the feeling, not only is someone asking her out to breakfast, but they're an entirely new being capable of who knows what, wearing what may or may not be very alien clothes.
>In all the sense, it feels like a Sci-Fi movie from the sixties, a wonderful one, at that.
>>
>>27606756
>You get up, brushing the excess moss and dirt from the tree behind you off of your coat.
>It is way to hot, you find, to be wearing a coat.
>You're from the state of Washington, where the winters are bitter cold and the summers are searing hot at times.
>Really, at this point, you're used to both extremes.
>You've been to a lot of places, as well, but this place is entirely alien, you've never seen a photograph or recollection or anything to do with this place.
>It's got you quite excited, too, like being the first man on Mars.
>Like that one book that the librarian that lived on second street gave you, about a man going to another world, and being left there.
>You don't remember much from that book, except it got a pretty great movie adaptation.
>But most definitely the sense of wonder and admiration of the book stayed with you.
>Actually, to be more precise, it was more like an adapted version of 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by, you want to say, Jules Verne.
>Your mind is a little fuzzy, because your stomach has no way of making glucose.
>You're just mindlessly following Twilight, and- once again, you find yourself more absorbed in your own thoughts than the new frontier you just stumbled upon.
>You really need to get out of your mind more often.
>For you, it's like a NEET getting out of his government paid closet to 'reeee' the neighbors dog.
>For whatever reason, you just thought the picture of some shitposter 'reeeing' a dog only to run back inside hilarious.
>Once again, lost in your own mind.
>you thump your temple a bit with your index and middle finger, both to get that Beatles tune out of your head and get yourself to stop thinking so thickly.
>>
>>27606862
>You lightly bump your head on the top of a door. And get brought back to reality.
>Or maybe it was the side, you question. you weren’t paying enough attention to see.
>"So this is ponyville bakery, it's official name is Sugarcube Corner, though- here is where we get all our tastiest breakfasts."
"This makes me think you have eggs, then- and a couple of other things you have to harvest from animals."
>"Yeah, Flutter Shy does a pretty good job of keeping the bakery stocked.
"For some reason I want to think that Fluttershy is the yellow one, the one with wings."
>You put your hand to your thigh, making it flatten out and announce its presence, as if you were pressing down on a table.
>"Yep! She's a Pegasus pony, they are like earth ponies, but they're lighter, for whatever reason, and have wings."
>She notices what's happening with your hand. Her head cocking to the side, reminding you of a little doe.
>a very cute doe.
>you imagine that these ponies, at some point were evolved to have a symbiotic relationship with another race, maybe dwarves or something, and then they died out and left their instinctually cute tendencies.
>"Is that a gesture for something?"
>she raises a large, bell shaped hoof towards your hand, in attempt at a gesture of her own.
>you wonder how anything can get done around here. Seeing as flanges aren't actually factual
>Oh, my-
>You notice, for the first time, something sticking out of her head.
>A horn.
"Oh my god you’re a unicorn."
>"Oh! Yeah, I'm a unicorn, if you don't know, that's the only way ponies can use magic."
>Yep, it's entirely plausible for magical tiny cute unicorns to be existent.
>in that moment, you decide one of two things.
>you're going to suspend your disbelief.
>if there is a higher power, they're obviously laughing their asses off right now.

"What?"

>You see her lightly nod her head, as if she had won a bet.

This thread is a bit slow. Suppose I'll post some green.

>"Hey Anon! I think I figured out how your aircraft's navigation system works!" Twilight says ecstatically, anxious for you to see the diagram she made.
"Really?" You just lean back in your chair and sip your coffee.
>Mm. Coffee.
>"Yeah! Look!"
>The purple equine hands you a paper.
"..."
>Twilight waits, her anxiety for her to have finally figured it out growing.
"Nope. Wrong. Look, Twilight, you're hellbent on using "Magic" to understand something not "Magic". If you want to understand how the Thunderbolt works, you need to use real Science."
You arrived in Equestria not by foot, but by air.
>You were an A-10 Thunderbolt pilot.
>And before you were violently transported here, you were running a mission over Afghanistan.
>"But - It is real Science!"
"Then why haven't you figured it out?"
>"Science takes a while."
"Face it Twilight. You'll never figure it out. Not with Magic."
>"But-"
"I'm not going to argue with you. But that reminds me, I'm going for a flight."
>You put your coffee down, and get up to go to your "Hangar".
>It was really just a hodgepodge of steel, rivets and tarp. But it kept your A-10 safe, and that's all that mattered.
>"Anon, please! Help me here. I want to understand. Your technology, is amazing!"
>You look back, calculating your response.
"Alright. But don't touch the fuel tanks."

>After 10 minutes of walking, you both arrive at your hangar. The door is made of steel reinforced with metal rods.
>Ain't nobody breaking in here.
>You unlock the door, and swing it open.
>Inside, in less than perfect condition, is the A-10.
>Your A-10.
>"I still can't get over how big that thing is."
>Urge to make innuendo intensifies.
"Yeah. That's not even the biggest plane ever made."
>"Wow."
>The pony's eyes are darting around the frame of the massive titanium tank, trying to understand.
"So. You wanted a lesson?"
>You ask, jumping up on the wing.
"What do you want to know?"

>"What I want to know is-"
"And not the GPS system. Baby steps."
>Twilight shrugs.
>"How does an aircraft made of metal fly?"
"Simple. You understand aerodynamics right?"
>"Yes. But it's not my expertise."
"Well, when the plane moves forward, the air pushes it back. How much air pushes back on it is called Drag."
>"I know that."
"And the faster the object is moving, the more Drag it experiences. So much so, that if you get anything going fast enough, the air will be forced to suspend it. That's how it flies."
>"But how does it generate the speed? The wings don't move. I know it has "Engines", but I want to know how that works."
>Twilight is starting to get anxious. She wants answers.
"Well, you know how fireworks work, right?"
>"Yes."
"Same principle. Except the fuel is a liquid, not a solid. It also ignites the air passing through the turbine,"
>You point to the engine. More specifically, the turbine.
"Reducing the amount of fuel necessary to provide propulsion."
>The pony is in awe.
>"That's amazing! But, how does-"
"Sorry. Lessons are over for today."
>"But - We just started!" Twilight seems disappointed.
"I said I wanted to fly today. We can continue tomorrow."
>Twilight nods reluctantly. "Alright."
"Now go. Your ears won't like the engine very much."
>Twilight walks out, then flies away back to her castle.
>You wish you had a crystal castle.
>But you don't need one.
>You have a flying tank.
>That still has bullets.

>You open the massive hangar doors, put on your gear, and climb inside the cockpit.
>The displays and gauges flash to life, and with them so does the engines.
>You ease the throttle forwards, and coast to the makeshift runway.
"It's nice to be back."
>>
>>27637379
>You press the throttle forwards to 40%.
>Don't want to start too fast.
>The plane creeps down the runway, slowly gaining speed.
>Then, you set throttle to 75%.
>The plane is now accelerating quite quickly, and you can now feel the vibrations of gravel through the landing gear.
>After a short while, you pull back, and the plane rises above the ground.
>This is followed by the landing gear lifting.

>You are now airborne.
>And it feels great.
"And so I conquer the skies again!"
>You say to yourself, sailing over the ground.
>The faint humming sound of your engines complements the even fainter sound of wind.
>The hills and roads below you went on for miles.
>Damn, you loved flying.
>You make a left turn, going toward Ponyville.
>As you float over, a familiar sight starts flying beside you.
>It's Rainbow Dash.
>She says something, but you can't hear her. Your protective earmuffs prevent you from hearing through the glass.
>But since you arrived, you got good at reading lips.
>"Hey! Want to go for a race?"
>You answer by increasing throttle to 100%.
>You start sailing past her, your engines now roaring.
>She then races past you. Somehow, she was able to travel over 400 miles per hour.
>Didn't matter though. You knew not to race her. So instead of chasing her, you split off, and go in a different direction.

>In the distance, Canterlot can be seen.
>It was a strange city, being perched on a mountain.
>But there were weirder things in this land of magical talking ponies.
>Just then, you see a large lake a mere mile away.
>There appears to be ponies swimming in it.
"Let's see how they react to this."
>You fly down, and once you reach the lake, you get as low as possible.
>Already they are getting pretty riled up.
>Whether they were getting thrills, or getting horrified, you couldn't tell.
>Just then, you tilt the plane sideways slightly, causing the wing to graze the water.
>Water starts getting kicked up, and a lot of it lands on the shore.

> You done your job well, took the void key and overloaded beam device.
> Then you got back through the portal on Orokin ship.
> But after you did this, something strange began to happen.
> "Hm... interesting. Why portal is not closing?"
> It was Lotus.
> As usual you don't answered. Just got to extraction point, slicing neural sentry's slaves apart.
> "Wait. Is... gravitation value increased? I don't like this, tenno. Get to extraction as fast as you can."
> Suddenly you heard, how groaned and grated metal of the ship.
> Shiver ran throughout surrounding.
> "Hurry, tenno. I'm detecting very powerful gravity anomaly inside the ship. It growns larger. And this anomaly just swallow the entire ship. You need to evacuate. NOW."
> Her voice sounded worried.

> Ah, at last a docking bay.
> You stand in the Liset's docking pod, and it turned around.
> Moment later you were on board of your personal shuttle.
> "Phew, Operator, thanks maker you're still intact. This ship just collapsing inside itself! We're leaving this place."
> You sat in the cockpit. And corner of eye you saw, how elegant hull of Orokin ship just crushing and squeezing inside itself.
> And then remains of it just... scooped in scary-looking totally BLACK circle

"What do you need?"
>The armored pony, still panting, answers.
>"Sir Anonymous, we have a letter for you from Celestia herself. We would have sent to you earlier, but you made an unexpected flight."
>The guard uses her magic to hand you a letter.
>"And please, next time slow down."
"Alright."
>The pony waits for a second, and then flies back to Canterlot with the other guards.
"I wonder what this letter says."

>"Dear Anonymous, as you already may know, tensions are rising between Equestria, Yakistan and Saddle Arabia. It's only a matter of time until all out war erupts. Although our military is more organized then both of theirs, we cannot handle fighting both of them at once. I'm sending this letter to you because you have an extremely advanced piece of technology, that if I recall, is actually a war machine. >"Okay, okay. But you'll tell me more right?"
"Yeah. Just let me finish refilling the storage tanks."

>"So. I wanted to ask about the steering system. How does the A-10 change direction?"
"Simple. Small flaps on hinges move up and down, or left to right. This forces the air to move in a certain direction."
>"Really? It's that easy?"
"Yep."
>She seems disappointed. It's as if she wanted a more sophisticated steering system.
>"Well, what about-"
>Spike busts through the door, and belches out a scroll, along with some flame.
>"Uh, Twilight, here's a message for you."
>The small dragon hands it to Twilight.
>"Hm. Wait, this is for Anon."

>"Oh. I thought it was for you. Sorry."
>Twilight floats the scroll over to you.
"Alright. Let's see what this is about."
>You already knew.
>You open the scroll, and indeed, it is a response to your letter.
>And you are now an unofficial member of the Equestrian Military.

>"Anon, what is that letter about?"
>Twilight inquires.
"Turns out I'm apart of the Military."
>"What?!"
>Twilight was clearly not expecting that.
>"Whoah. But, why?"
>Spike asks.
"Well, let's just say I've got a special piece of equipment that the Military may want."
>You lightly gesture to your Thunderbolt.

If you can help a some species to prevent a large-scale war, it would be a crime NOT to help them.

The reason most of those weapon systems cost so much is the huge amount of refined materials needed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-65_Maverick

http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/agm-65.htm

Does that really look like something equestria can reproduce in quantity?

How about the massive oil drilling, transporting, and refining needed to make the fuel?

What about all the electronic systems that we consider disposable, can the make those?

Or the manufacture of the chemicals for producing the cordite and explosives, you can't use blackpowder for the propellant in the 30mm.

The problem is ModernWarmachineAnon in equestria doesn't work because of the massive support systems these machines need to function, systems that took decades to build on the already centuries old systems that were there.

Actually, magic might make such things much easier to make.
>>
>>27645907
It's fine if the green isn't serious, but he will pretty much have to magic handwave all the problems away, flying just a handfull of sorties with even something as cost effective as an A-10 would have been economically stressful to the British empire at it's height, and equestria is probably nowhere near the giant they were.

"This thing hasn't fared well since I arrived in Equestria. Many of the more complex materials in it's construction are either expensive, or just don't exist yet."

"I've done all I can, but it's only a matter of time till' she breaks down for good."

>"Great! I'll see if I can cook some of that up!"
>Twilight hops and skips out the door.
>Turns out that spike already left.
>You turn back to the Thunderbolt.
>For the first time since arriving here, your bird might fly true again.

>You're looking at the table cloths, waiting on your dinner for eight come together.
>"So, anon- what can you tell me about where you come from?"
>You dash up, and look at her while squinting her eyes, power blinking and simply stating.
"How do you know my name."
>She looks a little confused and angry at the same time, trying to perceive the thought of 'what are you on' through her squinting snout.
>"you told me, that was the one thing I asked of you."
>You let out a long drawn out 'oooh' with an undertone of confused acceptance, as if you had been told that your entire house was abducted by aliens, and you really didn't want to ask questions.
"Well, okay; that's pretty fair."
>You sit in awkward silence for a bit.

"You wanna hear some music?"

>She blinks, pulling herself from her head, and looks back at you with the same look she flashed a minute ago.
>"We- we don't have a record player, and you obviously don't have any records."

>you've been waiting for her to say something, and you pull out your earbuds and ipod.
>she looks at it as a child would look at a lolipop.
>"Oh! You have a magic player! These things are really neat, may I see it?"
>you turn to the first album on your list, which happens to be 'Abbey Road.'

"Here, put this in your ears, like- like earplugs, if that's a thing."
>Putting it on shuffle, the song 'Octopuses Garden' comes on.

>It's loud, and you can hear the sounds of the British Isles from here.
>Soon enough, she begins to bob her head, pushing a bit of air your direction.
>You smile, seeing that music taste is kind of universal.

>By the guitar solo, and the beginning of the second verse, magic starts manifesting lightly on her horn.
>You bob your head as well to the sound of the music, waiting still on your food.

[Next day]

>And so the morning returns.
>You, Anon, get up and do the Double S.
>It would've been the Triple S, but you shaved yesterday.
>Afterwards, you go over to your Thunderbolt to wash it up. It often got dirty from from the gravel and dirt runway.
>You liberally apply soap and water to every plate and crevice until Twilight barges in.
>"Hey Anon! I think I made that Alloy you wanted!"
>Twilight excitedly hops over, and places a small metal cube on the left wing of the aircraft.
>You climb down from the right engine and grab it, feeling it in your hands. It is quite weighty.
>"Is that it? Did I do it?"
"I need to test it first. By subjecting it to extreme temperatures."
>You hop down, and waltz over to your work area, and grab a DIY blowtorch.
>You light it up, and point it at the cube.
>Within 15 seconds, it lights up a fluorescent red.
>"How hot is that?" Twilight says, intently observing the glowing cube.
"Roughly 450 degrees Fahrenheit."
>"Can you make it hotter?"
"If I did, the torch would melt."
>You deactivate the torch, and put it down.
>The cube is still glowing a bright red.
"I'd say you did a good job. It should work. Now, you just need to make enough to replace the turbines."
>"That's great! I can easily make more!"
>Twilight's getting a bit too into this.
"Yeah. That would be nice. And as for the other parts, I can just have you analyze them."
>"Really?"
"Yeah."
>"Thank you so much Anon!"
>Twilight jumps up, and hugs you.
>Well that was unexpected.
"You're welcome, Twilight."

"Perhaps. But for right now-"
>Suddenly, a group of Royal Guards march through the door.
>"Hello, Anonymous."
>"Guards? What are you doing here?"
"Me and Celestia arranged for guards to escort me and my Thunderbolt to the Merywhether Military Base."
>"But, we still need to do maintenance!"
"Yes, but this beast still flies. And I intend to do just that to the base."
>"Are you ready to leave, Anonymous?"
The head guard inquires.
"Yeah. Just need to refuel the jet."
>You walk over to a large pair of fuel tanks at the edge of the hangar.
>Painted on their sides are the words:"Biofuel - Don't touch."
>Twilight trots over next to you.
>"You use biofuel?"
"Yeah. I use all that equipment down at the end to process crops for their oils. It's how I make the fuel."
>You point to a large set of machines. They seem to have been custom built by Anon.
>"That's creative. Was your jet designed for that?"
"Nope. Engines don't like it very much."
>"Hmm. I suppose we should work on that next."
"Yep."
>You grab a large hose from the tanks, and insert the nozzle into the fuel input. Then crank on the pump.
"This might take a few minutes."

Droid here. Due to the SW general reappearing, I'm moving my story over there. The current version is on hiatus, but I am working on a different version with a better approach. Don't worry though, as I'll still be writing those other stories I mentioned over here when they are ready. I know I said I was going to finish this current story first, but after rigorously looking it through, I see a bountiful amount of errors that would need to be fixed just to make the story decent. Again, this is only on hiatus. That means that I may or may not come back to this in the future, but it's more than likely not happening. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from with this.

are we having a good green so far?

i'd like to point out that alot of content creators on this board, when posed with only lurkers, and no feedback or whatever, it seems to the content creators that their work is not being read. so more often than not they slow posting green in a slow sure decent into nothingness.

so remember, you want a green to keep going, notice them! thank them or some shit. post a macro, literally any post will almost always insure that the writers' hearts stay in their green

> You've never seen such creature before. It was at least six meter lengh, has long body, six legs and big triangular head with wide sharp-toothed mouth.
> All upper part of it's body were securely covered with spiked plates of bone.
> And also it's had four fully black eyes, without pupils.
> Pardon, THREE eyes. Because from one of them stuck an arrow.
> Several more arrows stuck around it's mounth and in forelegs.
> The creature growled and with impressive speed darted right towards you.
"Hmm, pretty fast"
> Decoy + invisibility, and evade.
> Thanks Lotus, you got the Energy Siphon aura, so you might not have to worry about energy.
> You noticed weirdness: the creature, despite it's size, moving absolutely silently.
> Not heavy stomping sounds, not even faint rustle.
> Absolutely silently.
> And you could feel faint trace of Void energy.
> Creature, meanwhile screamed with a very hight-pitched sound. And then...
> It accurately ran towards you
> Ignoring your invisibility mode.
"Natural sonar?.. Impressive."
> You pulled Dread's bowstring and shot an arrow right in the another eye of creature.
> An arrow, released from high-tech bow, flew with a faint whistling.
> And entered into creature's eye socket at full of it lenght.
> The creature hesitated, stopped, and began to shaking it's head violently.
> You noticed, how first leg from the right side just hung limply.
> Looks like you just partically paralyzed it. But not killed. Time to fix this oversight.
> You again pulled back bowstring with a new arrow and wanted to shoot
> But again, something interesting happened.
> You heard series of faint squeaks.
> It came from one of overturned carriages.
> And creature suddenly start to behave strangely.
> It hissed, and backed away from you, tilting it's head forward, looks like to protect remaining eyes.
>>
>>27659235
> The creature continued to back away, slowly moving towards carriage.
> And then it stood between you and carriage, hissing threateningly.
"Wait a second..."
> Looks like you realised, what happening. But anyway, you're still were curious a bit.
> Switch telepot time!
> You just used your ability, and you were next to the wagon, while creature were in twenty meters away, shaking it's head dumbly, and trying to realise what just happened.
> You looked inside of carriage. And you saw another creature, which was just tiny copy of bigger one, with a funny little horns.
> It was tied. Very thoroughly tied.
"Okay..."
> Looks like fragments of mosaic began to assemble in complete pictures.
> These technicolor... "intelligent" creatures for some reason stole baby creature from it's parents.
> And parents are very angered.
> You very quickly take the right decision.
> And just teared ropes around baby creature's body and legs, by your hands.
"You're free now, little one."
> Then you just ran on a good distance, and jumped on tree branch.
"They are stupid enough to stole baby from his parents. They are paid in full for this."
> You watched, like a big and tiny creature gathered together and slowly headed through the forest in the direction of nearby mountains.
> Very, very silently.
> When they're disappeared, you waited another dozen of minutes.
> The only thing for now that breake peaceful silence of clearing is your Helios.
> Little guy just flew around and scanned everything, that it saw.
> You almost forgot about your sentinel.
> You smiled mentally, watching how Helios works. Then jump off from the branch.
> And began to search the corpses, and carriages too.
> All of these vivid creatures had different marks on their hips.
> You could only guess what it's purpose.
>>
>>27659249
> You found nothing too interesting, primitive utensil, like a ceramic pots, cooked food, generally vegetables, some empty iron cages, small amount of wooden composite bows, iron axes, strange small circular plates, looks like made of gold, silver and copper, with a stamping of some unknown sympols.
"I think this is local credits" - you guessed, - "I wonder what these guys are doing? Hm-m-m. Cages, catched animal. Looks like they're trappers. Or hunters. Was."
> When you're searched one of corpses, dark grey male with torn hind legs, and with spine bent at an odd agle, he suddenly opened his eyes, and twitched his forelegs, opening his mounth in silent scream.
> It was clear that he had not long to live.
"Not sure, that my medicine will help him... I think the only option is deliver him from suffering."
> You took one of Grakatas from your hip.
> Aimed right at his head.
> Just want to pull the trigger, but suddenly.
> "MAIRAAA!!!" - high pitched voice sreamed.
> Another creature got out from under the nearest carriage.
> Tiny dark blue female with big green eyes, and one little horn. No mark on the hip.
> She shielded bigger creature with her body.
> "Naik!" - she shouted sharply, but her voice trembled.
> Then her little horn glowed and...
> She hit you with a tiny and weak lightning, which shot from her horn.
> She. Attacked. You? She's really in despair.
"Wait a second..."
> When she hit you, you felt a weak trace of void enery again.
> She using a VOID ENERGY?!
"She's Tenno. But how she could convert clear Void energy in lightning WINTHOUT WARFRAME?! Or this body IS warframe?"
>>
>>27659264
> You brought Grakata back to the hip. And just took this tiny female in your hands. Lift it at the level of your eyes.
> "Nariti mei! Nariti ta'ke doren!" - she screeched, furiously trying to get out of your hands.
"What a curious creature..." - you thought, - "You'll be my trophy."
> Then you looked again on gray male. He's not moving, his eyes rolled up. He's dead.
> Looks like there's nothing interesting for you. Instead of this tiny female.
> If speculate logically, even if she can use void energy, then what can do big ones? You found at least fifteen corpses with a horns. So, all of them - Tenno?
> There's only one way to figure out.
> In this time, female looked at dead gray one. And began to cry, sobbing. All her resistanse was gone.
> "Maira... m-maira... n-naik..." - she said betwen the sobs.
"Your first loss. Time to grow up", - you thought grimly. And just put her on your shoulder, still holding by hand.
> She did not resist.
> And then you sent signal to Ordis.
> "I reading you, Operator. What do you need?"
"..."
> "Extracting? With landing? As you command, Operator"
> After thirty seconds you heard a familiar roar of plasma thrusters.
> Liset appeared, and hovered above the clearing.
> Then it landed.
> Little female looked at your ship with an awe.
> "Arivak..."
"..."
> "Oh! I made a good impression? But on whom?" - said Ordis puzzeled.
"..."
> "Operator, can you're just say... /We've got another flearug?!?!?!?/ ...who is it?"
"..."
> "Oh, I see, Operator"
> The ramp opened at the bottom of the Liset.

Two updates in the same thread? What's going on?
Mixed feelings on this one. Details will follow.

>You are Luna.
>You are getting up.
>Spike already filled you in on what's happened.
>Then sent you right back to bed.
>His vigor astounds you.
>While your movements are still sluggish and clumsy, he moves with such ease and grace.
>It's true that you were pretty seriously injured, but even so.
>That is not the mark of one who's been drained of their anima.
>Perhaps it isn't so necessary to life as you'd once thought.
>A deep ache fills you as you walk forward.
>You haven’t felt this weak since-
>You were going to say since the Elements purged you, or since you lent Twilight your magic to spite Tirek, but even that’s not a fair comparison.
>With the former the magic was burnt away, but only a very specific part of it.
>With the latter it was drawn from you, but not your anima.
>You wearily make your way outside, trying not to trip over your own clumsy hooves.
>Dim sunshine meets your eyes.
>It seems as though Sparkle and Princess Cadance have met up.
>Their work is… underwhelming.
>Sufficient for a ‘day’, but a far cry from the brilliance and raw power your sister brings.
>You hope that she’ll be able to take up the mantle again soon.
>You hope she’ll be able to do it at all.
>Under ordinary circumstances you’d have gone straight to her side the moment you could.
>But you suspect you can do more for her here than there.
>The camp seems so eerie and desolate with everypony gone.
>Though only the unicorns had to leave, the others felt unnerved by the imposing presence of the machines.
>To their credit, what little remained of Celestia’s soldiers had tried to stick to their post.
>But they desperately didn’t want to be there, and you knew it.
>You ordered them to guard her in Canterlot, and they were all too happy to comply.
.>Never mind the fact that you didn’t have the authority to give that order.
>Or that she didn’t really need to be guarded.
>>
>>27661531
>It was just an excuse.
>And one they were all too happy to take, just to be away from the imposing presence.
>Those stupid machines.
>A warning, or perhaps more accurately a threat, that none who could cast a spell were welcome.
>An overreaction to be sure.
>Precious few could manage the spell he’d been subject to.
>And none save the Titans themselves could do so from so far away or for so long.
>His… excess caution will make your task much more difficult.
>As though it weren’t enough that he had ample reason to distrust and despise you, now he’s afraid.
>But you do have one advantage for the negotiations to come soon.
>And he’s coming this way.

>”Heya, Luna.”

“Greetings, Spike.”

>The young drake that you’ve come to know moves with enviable ease as you struggle along the desolate camp.
>You eventually give up and sit in the dirt, allowing him to come to you.

>”Feeling better?”

“Much. By no means good, but better without a doubt. I shudder to think how Equestria fares if I’m this feeble.”

>”Eh. You were hurt pretty bad, so I bet they recovered quicker. I’ve got some good news for you. No, it’s not about Celestia, sorry. Not that good. I didn’t want to bring this up since I wasn’t sure if it would change back when you started to get your magic back, but… take a look at your hoof.”

>With a grunt, you raise one hoof in front of your eyes.
>You see nothing unusual.
>Wait…
>You see nothing unusual!

>”Looks like they weren’t too picky about what kind of magic they ate.”

>You… You’re you again!
>You can stop hiding in shame!
>You can stop- no. You still don’t trust your own judgement.
>You told Twilight that she’d be the one to decide when you had earned the right to use magic again.
>As much as you regret picking her, deferring judgement is pointless if you decide for yourself the moment your coat turns blue again.
>>
>>27661531
>You’re sticking to that one.
>And besides, you’ve no assurances that the other changes have reversed.
>You could be quite mad and have no clue.
>Even so, this news means more to you than your own birthday.
>You try to wipe a tear of joy off of your cheek, but you don’t quite have the strength.
>You’ll celebrate later. With your sister.
>Once you’ve ensured her survival.
>Once your work is done.
>First, you need information.
>You shove the joy out of your mind and focus.

“Work now. What news have you for me?”

>”Lots of stuff. For starters, he’s trying to learn to speak our language. Asking me to read him every message I send.”

>That’s a good sign.
>It suggests he still wishes to associate with you in some way.

>”Finds it really weird that everyone speaks the same language, and when I got to thinking about it, yeah. That is odd. Why can I make the same sounds as you?”

“I suspect they wanted us to be able to communicate readily. To what ends I know not.”

>”That actually might make some sense. Lemme think on that for a bit.”

>You’ll grant him his time.
>After all, you’re more interested in other matters right now.
>Like what you might be able to use as leverage.

“You're quite convinced he could have won without your help? We can’t suggest that he owes you for your aid?”

>”Oh sure. It would have taken a lot longer and there'd have been way more collateral damage, but he could have just waited until the Titan ran out of magic.”

“But it could just drain us of ours.”
>>
>>27661544

>”Until you died, sure. As much as this might surprise you, it didn’t want that. He said something that really put a lot of this in perspective. You don't slaughter your breeding stock. Oh, don't look so disgusted. It made sense in the context. What if all of this, this way whole world, was made to feed them? You were close, the orb wasn't the egg, the rock we stand on was. The orb was the Titan itself, doubtlessly feeding off of our magic for millennia. They filled this place with life, but they wanted to prune it down to the most productive species.”

“Hold on, this land itself makes the magic. Not us.”

>”Wrong. When the Titan died, the arcane fields radically changed. It was drawing the magic downward where it pooled in the lowest altitudes. That's why there's more magic down low. And up high? Its natural tendency to diffuse was greater than the force drawing it in. Something keeps it from radiating away totally though, apparently there's no magic if you go high enough up.”

>How odd.
>The question that comes to mind is just how high you need go.
>Your curiosity is piqued.

”And now?”

>”Fairly evenly distributed, noticeably stronger near large urban centers. Since spells work based on the flow of magic I doubt this will help with spellcasting much, but there might be some useful applications. Back on topic though, The visitor and I are both pretty sure that magic comes from life.”

“And we need magic. They made us dependent on it so that we might never eschew it.”

>”And then forced you to fight, probably thinking that whoever made the most magic would win and take over.”

“Then peace broke out and all their plans were ruined."
>>
>>27661554
>”Not quite. Equestria’s population has increased quite a bit in recent history, right? And without any border expansion? Somewhere along the way someone started doing something that they never thought of. Somehow this place started supporting a lot more life. We’d have to dig deep into agricultural practiced to stand a chance of finding out what, but the point of the matter is that there was no need for fighting. Think of this world as a steam engine. They turn fuel into heat into motion. It turns sunshine into food, and food into magic. By forcing violence they were trying to make the second step more efficient, but somewhere along the line the first step was reworked. The end result was better and so they were satisfied. If population started stagnating again they’d have probably pushed for some fighting, but in the meantime it was fine to just sit and wait.”

>He’s put quite a bit of thought into this.
>And he’s staying so level headed despite the grim nature of the topic.
>Unexpected, and not just because of his age.

“I must admit to being impressed. Hardly anypony would be able to discuss such things so casually. Yet here you are, so young and not at all phased by the dark side of life.”

>”Eh. No point in pretending that everything’s fine. You can’t fix anything before you realise there’s a problem. For example. We could happily go on with life knowing the Titan’s dead and be caught off guard when it comes back, or we could acknowledge that it can likely regenerate itself like Discord and be ready to crush it.”

>That thought had occurred to you.
>And you suspect it will be more dangerous next time.
>If this one were freshly hatched, it seems fair to assume it may have been weakened.
>And its hatching was assisted. This one may have been premature.

“Yes… it will be back. And it might not come alone.”
>>
>>27661558

>”Don’t worry, I’ve already got some ideas. And even if they fail, he'll be ready by then. This whole experience shook him up pretty bad, so you can be sure he's planning and preparing. Plus he knows what he's up against now.”

“Perhaps it would be wise to aid him. To teach him what we can of magic. Might that make a good bargaining chip?”

>”Maybe. But I'd have a backup plan if I were you. You're asking a lot, and even if you weren't? He HATES princess Celestia. He doesn’t like you either, but he seems to respect you at least.”

>You barely contain the sudden surge of rage that flows through you.
>To think that someone might judge her, or even HATE her?
>He would dare to-
>You take a deep, calming breath.

“A valid concern. And I doubt our knowledge would satisfy him. There are far too many gaps, and I seem to recall you saying he'd read a few books on the matter already.”

>”Mostly aimed at foals, but yeah. Even if he doesn't have anything comprehensive he at least knows the fundamentals.”

“So we need to think of something we can offer to the being that knows everything, has everything, and can do anything.”

>“Pretty much.”

”Any suggestions?”

>”None. Although… he’s a social species. He let slip that being isolated for so long was bad for his mental health. Maybe you can use that in some way?”

“Perhaps. Give me some time to think. And rest, this was far harder on me than I care to admit.”

>You slowly and wearily return to your hooves, and hit the hay.

The next day…

>You slowly approach the glowing box.
>The one that fell from the heavens during that long night.
>Spike follows you closely.
>>
>>27661564

>”Alright. Just… be careful. He respects you, but he sure doesn’t like you. If you want to coax him into helping Celestia, you’ll need to make him want to do it for himself. And I’m not sure what it means exactly, but he said he’d already overstepped his bounds Not sure what exactly that means, but asking for more changes will be tough. I’m not sure any of your plans will work, but… you need to try.”

>You steel your nerves.
>You ignore the growing anxiety.
>You step towards the glowing box.

“You've truly learned to speak?”

>”Poorly.”

>That voice.
>So smooth…
>Like a rich baritone.

>”Ooh, that one's pretty good.”

“Pardon?”

>”He physically can't make some of the noises needed to speak our language properly, so he made a device to talk for him. First attempt he had it calibrated to sound good to his species, and it was REALLY annoying.”

>”Your voice is no less error 002.”

“What?”

>”File not found. He instructed the machine to use a word that its never heard before.”

>How odd.

>”You seem remarkably fluent, given it's only been three days”

>”Your days are longer than they used to be. I've been told somepony else has taken control of that cycle so it's probably an error on their part. Plus I started when it was always dark. Measuring time in days is foolish. Use error 006 clocks.”

“Meaning?”

>”Translation impossible. He used a word that doesn't exist in our language.”

“Regardless of how we track time, that still seems impossibly quick.”

>”He's a quick learner, and I've been spending most of my time teaching him. It'll save time in the long run.”

>”Hold on, I'm not a quick learner. The error 006 is.“

>”We really need to start naming some of your things.”

“All this aside, we’ve a serious issue to discuss. I've come to ask, nay, beg your assistance. My sister, if she still lives, likely isn't long for this world. I pray that you might save her."
>>
>>27661572
>”I've no love for Celestia. She's tried to kill me on numerous occasions and she's still technically at war with me. Why should I do anything to help her? And remember, you've nothing I want.”

“Were you to aid her you'd be deemed a hero of Equestria. We'd grant you the highest honor our nation, the most populous one, can bestow. You’d be a hero to millions.”

>”Pass.”

“Pardon?”

>”I'm not interested in that.“

>Why-
>Because he doesn't respect Equestria.
>honors are meaningless when they come from nowhere.
>Might as well have a dog deliver him a medal.
>That was your idea.
>You have a couple more, but that would have easily been the best outcome.
>The second plan?
>There is one thing he clearly wants.
>It isn't right of you to promise this.
>You do not have the authority.
>And the displaced will resent you for it.
>When you think of all those refugees losing their homes, blaming you, HATING you…
>You really don't give a damn.
>Your sister is far more important.

“You seem to have taken an interest in the badlands. Great portions are already owned, but I'd grant you ownership of all this land you've been building upon.”

>”You're trying to give me something I already own.”

“What? These lands aren't yours! You've not compensated those who held them before!”

>The words leave your mouth before you can think.
>You immediately regret them.

>”Woe unto the conquered. I'm claiming the mountain range too by the way. Be glad I don’t claim ownership of your whole world, I easily could.”

>You were confident the first one would work.
>And now your backup plan has backfired miserably.
>You have one more idea.
>It’ll take some time to prepare.
>But you’re certain it will work.
>You didn’t exactly want to do this. You can not see it yielding an alliance.
>If you succeed, pony kind will be beneath respect.
>You’ll be a charity case.
>Something to be pitied.
>>
>>27661578
>No chance of being seen as equals.
>It’s a trade you’re willing to make.

>”We done? I’d like to get back to rebuilding my stuff.”

“For now. However, I must ask. You view the world from above, yes? Can you follow me inside a building? I wish to show you something.”
>You are Anonymous.
>Your patience is wearing thin.
>This black horse won't leave you alone.
>All you want to do is oversee construction.
>You quickly glance at the display to your side, and see metal flying every which way as your robots do your work.
>That's what you want to watch.
>But she's constantly demanding your attention.
>The thought had occurred that you could just block her messages.
>But…
>She put her neck on the line to help you.
>You feel like you owe her.
>Even if she was acting in her own interests.
>Now you're stuck listening to her chatter while she rides what must be the slowest train in history.

>”I hope it isn't rude of me to ask, but how old are you?”

>There isn’t really one answer to that question.
>Technically quite old, though you don't think the time you spent in transit should count.
>Less that you're just under 120.
>But that's in Earth years.
>She'd probably prefer a more localized measure.

“A bit over 200.”

>”I see. And how long do your people live?”

>Another difficult question.
>It varies wildly and has likely changed since you left.
>In theory you could live indefinitely. In practice though people tend to grow bored of life eventually and choose to die.
>You seem to recall reading somewhere that modern entertainment had lengthened people's average lifespans to about 500.
>You'll quote that figure. Adjusted for local time of course.

“1100 years or so. If nothing goes wrong.”

>”I see. Perhaps you don't understand our plight.”

>There she goes again.

>”I'm unsure if you've ever lost a loved one-”

“I have.”

>Fuck you too, Venus.

>”But you'd have lost everyone by now had you lived here.“
>>
>Silence returns.
>Well, relative silence.
>The train is making a lot of noise.
>But you're thankful to hear it.
>Black horse is leaving you alone.
>You return to your ‘work’, idly watching as your robots go about their tasks.
>You’d already designed the Sanctuary, so it took minimal work to get them organised.
>Now you just need to let them do their thing.
>But it’s cathartic to watch them work.
>You know what’s going on.
>You’re in control.
>Even stuck in a small pod up in space, totally immobile and bloodied, you answer to none.
>You are your own boss.
>You are free.
>You take some time to revel in that.
>But it’s over far too soon.

>”We're here.”

>You order your display to show you the video feed from her camera.
>It’s a simple device, looking like a small glass ball hanging from her neck like a pendant.
>The camera wasn’t strictly necessary, but you decided to pretend you couldn’t spy on them at will.
>You see a relatively large building dominating your field of view.
>Three stories tall with several sections that were obviously added as an afterthought.
>She marches through the red double doors at the front and storms past the front desk.

>”Your majesty-”

>”Can it..”

>She goes through the snaking corridors, navigating the labyrinth with purpose.
>All along the way you see ponies laying in beds, each with a varying amount of bandages on them.
>Wait a second.

“Why are they all pegasi?”

>”This is what happens when you lose your magic mid flight.”

>The temper in her voice surprises you.
>Yes, she told off the receptionist, but still.

>”Some will survive. Others won’t.”

“Why don’t you heal them then?”

>”Because we can’t.”

>Seriously?
>From the sounds of it they’re just impact injuries.
>That should be pretty easy to deal with.
>Well, she DID need you to help the three that got shot…
>She keeps her quick pace through the halls, eventually pushing through what appears to be a random door.
>>
>>27661587
>There are several ponies in the crowded room, some react weakly as the door opens.
>Others don’t.
>Black horse gestures towards the one closest to you, a light green ‘normal’ horse.
>One of the ones that didn’t move.

“This pony is going to die soon. Probably this month. Her body is worn out, her organs failing. Healing her is totally beyond us, sustaining her has become impossible. Her family will mourn, but none other will take notice. It’s simply a fact of life that those who are as old as her will die.”

“How old?”

>She walks to the foot of the bed and tilts her head down to look at the chart.
>Your display seamlessly overwrites the alien script with more familiar symbols.

Age: 157

>Only in her 70s by your measure…
>You were still in school when you were that young.
>She’s already left the room, taking your view with her.

“The rest of them won’t last much longer either.”

>She plows through the corridors, pushing staff aside as she heads to who knows where.
>Another door is pushed aside, a bit more violently this time.
>She raises a hoof to muffle the sound.
>You can still make out what’s being said, but there’s no reason to let her know that.

>”Any bad ones lately?”

>”Far too many I’m afraid. Umm... may I ask what happened to your horn?”

>”Combat injury.”

>The lack of formalities strike you as odd.
>Almost as though they’re familiar with her.
>Almost as though she spends a lot of time here.

>She knows her way around quite well.
>Maybe she does?

>”Bring me to the worst you have.”

>”Of course.”

>A minute or so of walking later the physician pushes open a door.
>Inside you see an extremely small, pale foal swaddled in a blanket. Inside of a glass box.

>”He has IAA I’m sorry to say. An undeveloped aorta.”

>You quickly glance at the chart next to the box.
>3 days old.
>>
>”It’s terminal I’m afraid. Best we can do is keep the little one warm and sedated so they don’t suffer too much. Might live another week if they’re tough, we’ll see.”

“Why doesn’t the chart have a name on it?”

>”Who was that?”

>”This pony will die nameless. If their parents give them a name, they’ll just get attached and it’ll hurt all the more.”

>The venom dripping from her voice is palpable.
>You can scarcely recall the last time you heard somebody this enraged.

“I know what you’re trying to do.”

>She stomps through the corridors, knocking aside anything that gets in her way.
>You can’t see her face, but based on some of the frightened reactions she gets, you can make a guess.

“It’s not going to work. There would be consequences if I did what you want.”

>She comes to another door, this one flanked by armed guards.
>They flinch when they see her, but do not part from their post.

>”How is she?”

>The hatred is gone, replaced by a strange mixture of sorrow and resignation.
>The guard on the left just shakes his head somberly.
>She pushes her way in.
>They don’t stop her.
>Inside you see what could be best described as a giant fried chicken.

>”This pony- *sniff* will die in agony. She’s lived a long life, none will deny that, but still millions will mourn.”

>She lets out a long, trembling sigh.

>”We’re delaying the inevitable, but there’s no hope of recovery.”

>”I’m glad you understand that, your majesty.”

>An unexpected voice comes from behind.
>Based on how quickly she turned to face it, it seems she didn’t see it coming either.
>A light yellow scrawny horned horse stands before her.

>”How did you get past the guards?”

>”The princess is my patient.”

>The princess?
>Purple one is too small. Pink one has a different build.
>That must be Celestia.
>You wonder what happened.

>”I’m sorry to say this, but I think it would be best if we… if we let her go.”
>>
>>27661632
>You can hear a guttural growl.

>”I understand, but we can’t help her. She’s suffering, and the only way to stop that is to just… set her free.”

>”Do you have foals?”

>”Pardon?”

>”Do. You. Have. FOALS?”

>The raw hatred in her voice is palpable.
>Even as far away as you are, you can’t help but feel intimidated.

>”I, uh, I have a son-”

>”If she dies, I will PERSONALLY strangle you with his intestines. ARE. WE. CLEAR?”

>He slowly takes two steps backwards.
>Then he turns tail and runs.

>”This pony… I could spend YEARS extolling her virtues, but none of that matters anymore. No matter how good somepony is, how much they try to help those around them, how much they succeed… they all turn to dust. And YOU...”

>You’re pretty sure black horse has started hyperventilating.
>Pretty sure.

>”You, who refuses to so much as raise a hoof to aid others, YOU who won’t even TRY to make a difference, YOU, who is so CRUEL as to ignore our plight, YOU! Everyone is guilty of all the good they didn’t do, and you are poised to become the most vile being imaginable. The best pony to ever live gets burnt alive, and YOU. WILL. LIVE. There is no justice.”

>She takes the camera off of her neck and holds it high.

>”You sicken me.”

>The camera rapidly approaches the floor.
>Then?

[NO SIGNAL]

>She wants you to teach them about cybernetics.
>And you could.
>But…
>You’ve already overstepped your bounds while here.
>Doing what she wants would be a serious breach of contract.
>And illegal.
>And impossible to hide.
>If you went that far, you might never be able to go home.

>You are Luna.
>Your rage has subsided.
>Leaving you with depression.
>How long have you been lying on the floor?
>How long since you gave up hope?
>Hours?
>Days?
>You’ve totally lost track.
>And you simply don’t care.
>Nothing matters anymore.
>You continue to stew in your own misery, until finally the door creaks open.
>>
>You don’t move to see who it is.
>It doesn’t matter.

>”Princess, I, uh… I have a message for you?”

“Whatever.”

>”Uh… it just says ‘terminal patients only, contact me immediately.’ That’s it.

>It takes a moment to sink in.
>Then you dare to smile.

Not a fan of the first part of this. A bit heavy on the exposition and I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about Titans (I sure as hell am!), but it seemed like some recap and explanation was necessary. I'd like to know what your thoughts are on this. Should I have just cut that part?

Edit: forgot to explain the mixed feelings thing.

"I also don't pay you for smart talk. Patch her leg up, I've got to find whoever let this happen."
>"My money's on the new guy. Same thing happened last week." The mare says with a chuckle.
"Right, well I'll keep a look out. Talk to you later, miss Care.", you say as you leave the room

>Your name is Anonymous
>You've been in this world for three years now.
>Life here has been pretty good so far. It's like living in paradise.
>You've been able to continue your research with little to no interruptions ever since you were able to set up shop here.
>Twilight's the one to thank for that.
>The purple pony was fascinated ever since you told her of the wonders of your world.
>Back on Earth, you worked for an idealistic man who wanted to make his childhood dreams come true.
>In short, he and some of his men found out how to replicate dinosaur DNA.
>You were skeptical at first, but when they explained it everything made sense.
>It's quite simple actually. All that is needed is a bit of fossilized amber containing a mosquito.
>After you get a hold of that, it's only a matter of extracting the blood inside, and filling in bits and pieces of the DNA that went missing over time.

>On the day that you were brought here, you and your team were in the middle of a breakthrough.
>You had successfully managed to bring back the company's seventeenth species of dinosaur. Protoceratops to be exact.
>You were transporting the embryos to cold storage when it happened. It started with a light headache, and within minutes you fell to the floor.

>You woke up here later, in Equestria.
>A completely different world, universe possibly. The locals consist of a variety of what would be considered mythical creatures back on Earth.
>A local group of magic-capable ponies took you in and helped you recover.
>Whether they knew, or that it was a coincidence, they managed to keep the DNA cool before you woke up.
>Without their magic, you could have very well lost all of your work that day.
>After you recovered, it was only a matter of time before you could continue your work.
>A certain pony by the name of Twilight Sparkle was the one who brought you here.
>Apparently it was some sort of freak accident.
>She wanted to make it up to you, and invited you into her home. It was a cozy little place. She calls it a Treebrary.
>As the name suggests, it's literally a tree made into a library.
>Time passed, and you started to get to know Twilight and her friends.
>Eventually, you told them about Earth's technology.
>Some of them believed you, others didn't.
>Twilight however, went to another level.
>She flipped out when she heard that you were able to replicate creatures from millions of years ago.

>Ever since, she's helped you create your machines using her magic. She was also able to charge your phone. For whatever reason, you still managed to get internet service here, allowing you to show her blueprints of the machines you spoke of. She essentially went off of those, and remade them using her magic.
>Two months into your time here, you were able to set up your first rendition of what could be called a lab.
>Really it was just cold storage and simple machines. Enough to manage the DNA.
>Years have passed since, and you've transformed a prairie into a biological preserve.
>While initially you intended for it to be purely for research, you quickly found out just how much ponies were willing to pay to see big scary reptiles.
>It's been quite profitable, and with that money you're able to pay staff to maintain the place. They do their job well.
>Well, most of the time they do.

>Just today there was an incident involving two pachycephalosaurs. The herd leader went berserk after his dose of medicine, and attacked one of the females, smashing her leg with his bony head.
>He should have been contained, but one of your security workers seemed to have let him loose again.
>You're going to do something about it this time.

>Wrapping the earbuds up in the light blue, scratched ipod nano, you stuff it in your pocket.
>Pinkie comes out, holding a plate of food, setting a pod of plates on her table, she sets down your orange juice and twilights water.

"Thanks."
>"Thank you very much, pinkie."

>Very traditional of her, you feel.

>You're noting the ground, the firmness of the dried dirt, but yet- the fineness of the road.
>The town itself is bustling, with a train station adjourning a large round building.
>The place is very out of tune with conventional technological history.

i enjoyed it and would tell you to leave it as is, i dont mind the exposition if done right it could be used to great effect , personally i would not give them more than what they need in order to recover, no augmentations or robotic prosthetic like with spike, finding a way to have enough information in order to save the patients he said he would help and no more, basically drawing a line and sticking with it, if they dont like it, bummer, he doesnt answer to them, all of this started because they jumped to conclusions and attacked him, but then again i am not the one writing, so long as you are happy with what you wrote, take all the time you need in order to feel satisfied, [end rant]

> You held her strong enough.
> "Nnngh! Naik! Mev nai gevok! Nariti mei! Nariti! Nariti... aevo..."
> So, looks like she wants you to let her go. If she wants... well, at last, you're not a monster.

> "Arivak... tole arivak..." - she said quietly.
> "Hey, hello, little one! My name is Ordis! I am the cephalon, an artifical mind of this ship. What is your name?"

And my mediocre green continues.

>"But keep in mind you don't have absolute power. For instance, only I am allowed to authorize the use of disciplinary action."
>Not quite as neat.
"Alright. Well, since I'm not all powerful, do I have any specific orders?"
>The highly decorated pony before you nods.
>"I need to take you that factory you probably saw flying in. It's where repairs and maintenance will be done on your aircraft."
>Seems reasonable.
"Before we go, I have one more question. I find it hard to believe that entire factory was built for my Thunderbolt. It's only been 2 days since I was even offered a place in the Military."
>"You would be correct. However, that facility was built several years ago to manufacture dynamite. It was renovated to manufacture parts, and process fuel."
"Alright then. No more questions."
>You and Warfield travel over to the factory by way of cart. It was quite uncomfortable because of your size.
>After 5 minutes, you both arrive.
>The building is rectangular, and made mostly of stone and metal. There are only a few windows as well.
>The entrance is a massive blast door, probably made of steel.
>After getting near the door, it starts to open with a grinding sound, followed by a loud clang as the door fully opens.
>Inside are machines, not unlike those found at typical factories.
>However, they seem to be quite primitive, as there is no visible wiring or circuitry to suggest electrical power.
>A few of them look like over-sized printing presses.
>Dozens of ponies, all covered in grease and sweat, can be seen checking the machines, presumably testing them for problems.
>>
>>27666986
>Upon entering, they all immediately stop what they are doing and turn to watch you.
>It's somewhat unsettling.
>You exit the cart, and Warfield does so too.
>"Everypony, this is Anonymous. The pony, or person rather, you are here for. You will do as he says unless I say so. Understood?"
>They all nod, then continue watching.
>"Now,"
>Warfield pulls out what appears to be a list of materials from a saddle bag.
>"Any materials Anonymous asks for, including these,"
>The ponies all squint their eyes slightly, reading the text on the document.
>"You will get them. And they will be crafted into parts as Anonymous sees fit."
>"Any questions?"
>None answer.
>"Good. Anonymous, you're free to go now. I'll be at my office at the barracks. Also, here's that list. It's a list of basic mechanical parts that may prove useful in repairs."
>And with that, the gun-mettle grey colored pony leaves via the same cart you arrived on.
>After she does so, you turn back to the crowd.
>"Sir, is there anything you need manufactured?" One of them asks.
"Well,"
>You begin quickly writing down the ingredients for making the Nickel Superalloy, and the measurements and dimensions of the turbines.
"Yes. That would be this. The Nickel Superalloy used to make the turbines."
>The pony you handed it to looks it over, and seems slightly surprised at first.
>"Yeah. We can."
>>
>>27666993
>The pony hollers to every other pony, and they all get to work.
>A few gather around a set of large metal tanks, and another few place ingots of various metals into the tanks.
>Then, a set of unicorns begin casting magic into the tanks, probably to fuse the metals together.
>The speed and organization of their work is impressive.
>The pony you talked to a moment ago returns,
>"It might be a while before the turbines are finished."
"Why exactly are those unicorns casting magic?"
>"Well, getting those metals to fuse isn't easy. Normally we would just melt them, join the fluids and let it cool. But these particular set of metals take more energy to melt and fuse then metals like iron and sliver. So magic is necessary."
>You thought Twilight used Alchemy to mix them?
>You'll ask her about it later.
>Actually, shouldn't she be here already?
"Well, I'm going back to the hangar. Tell me when those turbines are finished."
>"Yes, Sir." The pony salutes.
>You salute back, and leave.

>You make your way back to the hangar after lot's of walking.
>After opening the doors, you notice your normal living accommodations aren't in the hangar.
"Dammit. Forgot to ask where my quarters were."
>You then exit the hangar, only to find Twilight fly in and land near Warfield's office.
>You quickly jog over, and say hello.
"Hey Twilight."
>"Oh hey Anon! Sorry for being late. Had to grab a few things on the way."
>A few? There were almost a dozen bags on her back.
"Yeah. And I've got a question. You said you used Alchemy to make that alloy, right?"
>Twilight nods.
>"Yes, I did. Why do you ask?"
"Because this base is using Metallurgy to make the alloys. Why did you use Alchemy?"
>"Metallurgy requires heavy and expensive equipment, which I don't have. But I suppose the base would use it because Alchemy is not used very often in the Military."
"Hmm. Well, I'm going to ask where my quarters are."

>"Can I come with you? I don't know either."
>Twilight asks.
"Sure."
>You open the door to Warfield's office, and are followed by Twilight.
>The room is quite spacious, and the walls are adorned with paintings plaques.
>And at the end, aligned at the middle, is Warfield sitting down, working on some documents.
"Hey, where are my quarters?"
>Warfield looks up, and puts the pen she was writing with down.
>"It's in the barracks, room A-4."
>There is a short pause before Twilight asks the same question.
>"It's in A-3, your highness."
>"Thank you."
>Warfield simply nods, and looks back down at the documents.
>You and Twilight promptly leave, and you both make your way to the A section of the barracks.
>But Twilight decides to chat a little on the way.
>"So, have you actually been in a Military?"
>You thought the answer was obvious.
"Well, of course. Only members of the United States Air Force are allowed to fly Thunderbolts."
>"United States? Is that the nation you're from?" Twilight inquires.
"Yes. And one of the most powerful as well."
>"How militarized is your world?"
>"Depends on who you're dealing with. The United States has one of the most powerful military's. Not only that, but we have won 2 major wars, and our whole nation was formed as a result of a war."
>Twilight appears concerned.
>"Major wars? Just how major?"
"Well..."
>You process for a second.
"They were the World Wars. Literally the entire world fighting. Twice in a row."
>"That sounds terrible! A war of that scale has never happened here before. How has your species not destroyed itself?"
>You sift your thoughts, trying to find the right words.
>"Well, we have come close several times. But Humanity is stubborn. Refuses to die, like an army of cockroaches."
>"How many have died?"
>Yet again, you tried to find the right words. You weren't sure how she might take an exact number.
>>
>>27669171
"Severa-"
>You interrupt yourself, trying to say it right.
"Millions. 10's of millions."
>Twilight goes pale.
>"That's... Horrible."
>She sounds, and looks, more sad than concerned.
"Many of them never killed anyone. Or commited crimes. Many were innocent."
>Twilight seems to be tearing up slightly.
>"Who would do that? Not even the worst of our world would kill the innocent."
"Evil people. People who are selfish and and don't care about other's pain."
>Twilight stares down at the ground for the rest of the walk.

>Eventually you both make it to the barracks, as night starts to fall.
>Twilight enters her room without saying a word.
>You do the same.
>Your room is relatively nice, but is sparse.
>There is only the bare necessities, a rug and a few windows.
>But that didn't matter.
>As you climb into your bed, you consider.
>What would Twilight say if she saw those wars?
>What if she experienced them?
>You would never wish the horrors of war on anyone.
>Because to some people, war would be worse than death.
>>
p9 dead again.
>>

Maybe telling Twilight about some of the advances made in the field of medicine thanks to those wars would make her feel slightly better.

Things like
>Being able to store and donate blood
>Ambulances
>Portable X-ray machines
>Huge advances in reconstructive surgery
>Prosthetics became an industry of engineers, doctors and scientists working together.

That's just some stuff from WW1 that still affects everyday lives to this day.
>>
>>27669931
One downside to this plan is that it highlights how brutal and violent the wars were. We are talking about how so many people were losing so much blood on a regular basis we had to find ways to keep blood prepared in advance instead of just being able to do something like a transfusion between two living people. That might worsen her mood more than improve it.
>>
>>27661756
Fuck yeah.
>>
>>27669931
I've got a good one. The Haber process is responsible for feeding about 80% of humanity. It fixes atmospheric nitrogen in the form of ammonia allowing for the mass production of nitrogen based fertilizer. Before this became widespread there were only two kinds of nitrogen fertilizer readily available. Urine and feces. While saltpeter could be used as an alternative the confirmed deposits were rapidly being depleted and the price was becoming prohibitive. While it was technically discovered before WW1, it wasn't until later that industrial scale nitrogen fixation was a thing. Saltpeter is also an ingredient in black powder, and Germany lacked reliable access. Rather than giving up their dreams of conquest, they started to synthesize it using the nitrogen they were able to pull from the air. For obvious reasons this got a lot of R&D funding leading to a massive increase in cost efficiency.

TL;DR: if it weren't for WW1 there would probably be fewer than 2 billion humans, and our farmers would be shitting and pissing in their fields.
>>
>>27671718
Weren't they using smokeless powder in WW1 and not black powder like you suggest they were using
>>
>>27671718
And the spread of technologies, too. Japan never would have grown into such an advanced nation if not for the dropping of the nuclear bombs. Russia would be far less industrialized if Stalin's brutal dictatorship had never been implemented. And much of the world would still be total shit if not for Western imperialism.

>>27673150
Good catch. I'd never thought of that. A bit of googling later, it seems that the answer is a resounding 'kinda', but even if it was yes the history of the Haber process would make sense. For reference there are several compounds that can be called smokeless gunpowder. The one in question is more specifically Poudre B. This was about 98% nitrocellulose, which is made by exposing cellulose to nitric acid. The most common and cheapest way of producing nitric acid is by using the Ostwald process, developed by another German chemist, to react oxygen with ammonia. Ammonia that was made using the Haber process. Poudre B was still a relatively new invention and only the newest models of weapons were designed to use it, so nearly all weapons that were manufactured before the war started were dependent on black powder. Beyond that, smokeless powder provided a huge amount of advantages, but had a serious drawback. The added steps and increased energy requirement for manufacturing Poudre B made it more expensive than black powder. For this reason black powder munitions were deployed as much as possible, mostly with stationary weapons since the added weight of the cartridge was less of a concern.

>>27673811

Err, we didn't win that war by ourselves.

Ultimately, it was the Russians that bled the Germans dry, while we bled the Japanese dry in the Pacific.

There is a casualty video that illustrates this, but for some reason it isn't showing up in the YouTube search results.

>"Anything I can get you, anon, I've got some tea brewing if… if you know what that is."
"Yeah, thanks little one- that'll be fine."
>He turns and you listen in on the little pitter patter of his feet as he runs to get you some tea.
>What a great dragon.
>Still fuckin' disgusted by scalies though.
>Why.
>Why are you disgusted by scalies.
>'Well, it's their tendencies in the bed.'
>But their tendencies in the bed are the same as normal people. They just like their art, mostly.
>'But the art itself isn't good either.'
>That's not truthful, and you can't make generalizations about them.
>'A person is a person, I guess.'
>That, that right there is the thought pattern that'll get you up in life!
>'I really need to be a bit more considerate.'
>And where the hell is Twilight?
>"Right here anon!"
"Oh, did I say that last part out loud?"
>"No, I'm just here to bring you your tea."
"Oh, thanks little dragon. Very considerate of you."

Never thought I see a story where Anon meeting Spike helps Anon seemingly get over his distaste of scalies

>Be Admiral Anon of the Equestrian navy.
>Used to be the day of battleships.
>Literally pounds of water balloons being shot from huge guns on big ships.
>Now it's all about pegucraft carriers and fighter/attack ponies.
>You're assigned to do a shore bombardment of a rogue base on Yakyakistan.
>Team Equestria: World Police
>And you don't even have the water balloon catapults like a warship SHOULD have.
>The only catapult is the pegasus launcher.
>You have two armed and loaded pegasi standing by at Alert Status 5.
>They insist on giving them five minutes to launch.
>You strap them to the launching catapult and give them 5 seconds.
>One of the pegasi goes off into the air just fine.
>She's on her way to hit the Yak base with pillows and water balloons.
>The other pegasus goes down. "Cold cat! Cold cat!" you hear over the radio.
>Catapult failure. Again.
>Pegasus has to doggy paddle through icy 70 degree water to get back aboard.
>War is hell.

>You're Royal Guard Anon- part of "Celestia's Hoof."
>The solar guard, after Shining Armor's retirement, has turned into a fanatical death-squad of elite, brainwashed soldiers, devoted entirely to Celestia.
>You're one of the few left who were guards before the change.
>If you lose this war, you'll no doubt be convicted as a war-criminal.
>You raise the pool-noodle-sword into the air. Your underlings raise their water rifles to the group of prisoners.
Ready!
Aim!
FIRE!
>You bring down the sword as the ponies release their spouts into the Yaks' faces.
>The lemon water goes into their eyes and mouths. You're too jaded to flinch at their screams. Some of the younger recruits look nauseous.
>The soldiers push and roll them into a mass bed. Too many bodies to individually tuck in at once.
>Usage of lemon in guns was declared highly illegal by the Geneighva Convention, but you ordered it to happen anyways.
>You're going to hell for this.
>But you're already there.
>War is hell.

I'm thinking of Trench Warrior Anon using the wind direction and canisters of laughing gas to put the enemy to sleep. But that would be too graphic even for me...

That sounds like something the joker would do

>You stood there in front of the tribunal, hands clasped in irons and flanked by a scowling guard on both sides
>the chief pony of the tribunal stares over her glasses, wrinkling her snout at you
>"Anonymous the Human. By the authority vested in us by Princess Celestia, on the charges of using illegal biological agents, this council finds you guilty on all counts."
>"For your heinous crimes, the council sentences you to..."
>"FIVE MINUTES IN THE TICKLER!"
>the audience, and even some of the guardponies gasp at the punishment
>"Guards, take him away!"
>the guardponies jab you with their wiffle bats and foam spears away to the sentencing chambers
>but you don't weep, nor cry, nor scream
>you knew it was the only way
>you did what you had to do
>and you used those stink bombs anyway

I really enjoyed these snippets, will you continue them in the next thread?
>>
Just going to throw this out now, and will in the next thread.

How many people are interested in/will read my current story on this thread? If there isn't a whole lot of interest I might just can it before I get too invested in it, and put all of my attention towards my other story I'm working on.
>>
>>27706077

>>27703721 and >>27708211 are mine. The other was by another Anon.

Yeah, I might start making more 'War is Hell' shots. So long as I get more ideas.
>>
>>27708341
I mixed those up. You get the idea, though.
>>
>>27708304
You talking about the dinosaur story? Because I am interested in reading more of it.

Also are the any volunteers to make the next thread when this one reaches page 8ish?
>>
>>27708391
Ye, that's the one. I guess I can make the thread.
Claiming 500th post and beginning of the end.
