Slice of life is a bas episode in the way no other episode could be, You could say something like "Mysterious Mare Do Well" is a bad episode because it's poorly written, but my rebuttal is that at least it's consistent with what the show had built up thus far. But this episode was a fucking disaster because it just HAD to be the100th episode. Anything else could have been the 100th episode, any episode from season 5, and it would have been just fine.

The thing that makes me mad with this is that, they could have had a celebration of the show for the 100th episode, They could have went deeper into the backstories of characters like Discord, or even talk just more about the lore in general. But no, They decided to turn a celebration of the show, Into a celebration of the fandom, and that's why this episode is bad.

Any episode could have been about the fans, fuck, they could have just had something like a small shout out in a much better episode 100 where they actually celebrate the show, but the fact that it was the 100th episode just cuts deep, if someone looks back on the show later, or fuck, even if just some little girl watches it without knowing about any of the fandom shit, they won't understand ANY of it, and the fact that you have to be a part of the 'Sooper seekrit klub, don't tell nobody" that wont even be around after the show ends, is fucking appalling. This episode should never have been made in the first place.

I fucking hate this episode, so much.

I can understand hating the fandom this was made for but it's honestly not that hard to follow the episode for those completely isolated from the rest of the fandom. All they'd really need to know is that it's the 100th episode and they'll realize it's meant to be a little different than what they're use to seeing. At worst it's just an average episode that follows a different set of characters you don't know for 20 minutes.

I'm not sure what the problem is. Fans who were part of expanding on these background characters get to see their ideas voiced and animated, while the people who aren't as deep into the fandom get to see who these background characters are. Either way, the world gets expanded.
