ITT: reading, reviewing, wasting time on stupid shit, SSnE realises he can't keep up the Austraeoh game for much longer, writing an AU story that isn't garbage from the get-go, sex as an expression of love rather than fodder for one-shot clopfics, it's alright to write hardcore explicit fetish stories with minors as long as they aren't fully human, site bugs, torturing human beings for the sake of pony stories, the intricacies of Equestria's monetary system, inside jokes so obscure that nobody gets them, people unironically defending Bleedin, Voiceguy gets one year closer to his demise, remember that liking things is wrong, there's no getting off knighty's FiMFiction ride, writing papers about a fictional universe, revelling in our autism, and what's the deal with Anthro stories?

Feeling hollow after having a wet dream with your fanfic waifu? Looking for a fic to distract you from the misaligned pic antext in the OP? Well, we've compiled the best of the worst in order to bring you our absolute average!

>It was an extravagant day in Ponyville. No pony would ever hear the dust roll to the side. Nor the sound of a wheel spinning like some kind of locomotive creature. Pinkie Pie was currently sitting in the dirt near Sugar Cube Corner because she was waiting for Mr. Cake to open up. It seemed he forgot to let her in and she had to wait all night for him.

>"Oh my pink posterior, why did Mr. Cake let me sleep outside in the dirt", cried Pinkie Pie in a angry state. Then, from afar, something glorious was rolling through. It was DAT BOI, and he was rolling on his unicycle like a boss. Pinkie Pie shuddered at the very sight of DAT BOI's very existence. It was impossible to avoid, to the point where she started screaming. Suddenly, wheels grew out of her hind hooves and outstretched into the ground, perfectly balanced. Pinkie Pie's skull and limbs were morphing into that of a frogs, and she could only scream in the agonizing pain from the transformation. Then, she started rolling with DAT BOI, to which she owed to her new existence.

>"OH SHIT WADDUP" said Pinkie Pie as she road with her new two-part posse.

You can buy a surplus 4 year old desktop and monitor from a college for like 50 bucks these days. You could always go to a library to write. So long as you aren't looking at horse porn, I doubt anyone would be able to tell horsefiction writing from essay writing.

The only current symbol is a EoH style pin, and since Phoenix was kind of extremely secret and not a publicly known organization, I doubt its agents would just walk around wearing a horseshoe.

Unless I make an arc for some kind of old agents trying to bring back the original Phoenix, using the escaped Ponka as an information source about Twilight and such.
>>
>>27432669
The idea behind Phoenix was agents operating in duos of unicorns and earth ponies. The unicorn used, well, magic, and the earth ponies provided more brute force to back up their partners. Since combat magic to the level they used before is pretty exhausting in the fic, and unicorns are portrayed as having weaker constitution that earth ponies, the latter still have a role in the fight.

>007 gadgets

The fic is in a 1915-20 era, no way those are getting in.

Okay so first your description is full of red flags (and since it's rated mature/sex, less people will even see it).

What do people see when they look at your story on the front page?
- "Orifice: The Musical", a title that tells you nothing of what the story is about, except that it could be clop
- 7 tags including Dark, that is not okay. Is it a dark, comedic musical with sex that is also a random aventure and a mystery? What does that even mean?
- "A unnofficial story inspired by Penis: The Musical by WrathofGod519". This is not going to encourage me to read that story, if anything it tells me that unless I've read the "penis musical" thing first, this story is not for me.

Overall, I would not click on this. It sounds terrible.

>>

Thaumic units? I'unno.
>>
>>27436440
No. Magic is rather poorly understood, especially in comparison to what you find in physics.

Magic in FiM is pretty obscure and hard to grasp, in a lot of ways. Sure, one third of the population are capable of what seems to mostly amount to telekinesis, but the further you get away from that the less secure things get. There's magic that you study at universities, but there's also magic in emotions, in friendship, in natural spirits, in concepts, in words and in fate. It can affect everything from moving stuff, transmutation, to altering time. It's far from rare to see some new kind of magic, or some new aspect of known magic. Even Twilight, who is a scholar and a prodigy, often seems stumped by magic she hasn't seen or doesn't immediately understand. It doesn't feel right to me to treat it like it's fully understood and can be understood by concepts like the Joule. If you want a system, make it interpretation.

They'll certainly have terms for various things in the magical arts, but comparing it to what we find in our physics doesn't seem fruitful.
Which is fine by me. The idea of magic being a physics/math-"equivalent" has generally to me seemed like it has been missing the point of why a story would have magic in the first place. Maybe something trying to interpret magic through something akin to classical formal logics would be fun, but I just have a soft spot for that. It's definitely among the ideas I have for a fic I will never write.
>>
>>27437309
Maybe as something on the same level as quantum physics? The ponies have several theories about them, but have yet any way to prove them, similar to how Greeks, Dalton and finally Rutherford saw atoms, but only Rutherford could prove some of the precise contexts. Like;

Starswirl: Total magical energy = biggest mass in kilograms you can lift with a basic telekinesis spell.

Twilight/Starlight: Magical energy = Mo (Moonlight's constant) x m (body mass of the unicorn)/ 1/20th of his age, but no way to get into details factoring in extremely old magic masters or the foalhood magic burst.

Some random guy 500 years later: Magic is extremely fluctuating depending on the different type of ponies, constitution, interests, mental problems, health problems, etc. Different unicorns have different specializations, and will have the most magic in those sectors. Foalhood magical burst is caused by the brain building itself and not knowing how to limit its magic output, hence ridiculously powerful magic for their age.

This overload can lead to rapid exhaustion, which explains why foals sleep around 20 hours up until their brain sets priorities, which is around 14 months.

(Attached is 25GB worth of graphs to calculate magical capacity)
>>
>>27436440
Unics

It functions as both a contraction of unicorn and it's a portmanteau of unicorn and unit.

The contraction of unics is UNX or unx, and 1 unic would be 1 standard Unicorn on the Unics scale. A pony rated at 1 unic is able to levitate and manipulate standard objects that earth ponies can use with hoof. A pony able to lift more than one object at a time, or large, heavy objects objects, or one that is able to operate complex multiple-component objects or devices, for example, would score higher on the unic scale as the magical power required for such feats is naturally higher.

Rarity for example is rated at 2.1 unics; she can create complex weaves and manipulate multiple objects at a time in order to create her fashionable garbs, and has demonstrated the ability to lift heavy rocks, but her magical power is still very limited. Twilight would be rated at around 34 unics, if the scale went that high.

I was thinking as an unit for magic based machines to use, as, like >>27437309 said, using a common energy unity for ponies' magical potential would be like considering IQ the universal measure for intelligence, discarding any other type of skills.
>>
>>27437518
OK so then unics can function like watt hours.

So in this instance, 1 unic is the amount of magical energy required to levitate a kilogram weight, for one hour.
>>
>>27437582
Magical machines, not ponies.

I think I'll stick to watts or something like that.
>>
I'd read a fic where Starswirl tries to come up with a logical system for measuring magical output.
>>
>>27437616
I wouldn't.
>>
>>27437616

>>
>>27437597
Did you even read the post?

A watt is a derived unit of energy, specifically used for measuring electricital outpout or consumption.

A unic then is a derived measurement of magical output or consumption.
>>
>>27437650
>So in this instance, 1 unic is the amount of magical energy required to levitate a kilogram weight, for one hour.

Which is done by a pony, not a machine.
>>
>>27437659
So just use the unic to apply to machines instead of ponies, fuck.

It's like calories vs watts vs joules vs barrels vs TNT etc. They are all units of energy meant to express different things in context. Pony magical output could be called the lev unit. Go creatively wild, you fucking faggot.

Zebraforce

It sounds counterintuitive, but makes perfect sense. Zebras have almost no magic, so unicorns can measure their strength in whole numbers (e.g. "119 Zebraforce") rather than decimals (e.g. "0.595 Unic").
>>

I thought it was going to be for political correctness.

>But why?
>They can't even into magic
>But else it's racism!
>Why the fuck are you even...
>Fucking get banished to Tartarus, racist princess scum! Destroy the monarchy!
>>
Thinking about political correctness and that thing with Starlight's friend, I had an idea for a fic.

A male, bright colored skillful unicorn tries to get into CSGU. Unfortunately, all unskilled female zebras and donkeys are being favorized over him. Can he get in school?
>>

Do you think Fimfic would take it?
>>
>>27437907

>>
>>27437907

It's a pretty stupid idea, no lie.

If you want to do something that's "stupid comedy" but could still be fit into an Equestria-centered story, maybe make him a Blueblood-level asshole-idiot who thinks that everyone is "oppressing" him because of his noble unicorn heritage. "Oh, you simple mudponies can't possibly understand the burden of being genetically enlightened," etc.

Then just let everypony react appropriately while he keeps digging himself deeper in. Boom, comedy.

I've been fooling around with a unit called a Swirl that would be a measure of magic. Since in my equations the amount of magic in a spell would be a function of both energy expended and entropy altered/information transmitted, I'd define the Swirl to be something like the magic needed to apply 1N of force to a cube of dimensions 0.1mx0.1mx0.1m located 1m away.

Whether or not this makes sense thematically in-universe is another question, of course, but do whatever you want to make your fic work.

Has any of you written a whole fic based on a song? Is that a thing?
>>
>>27446479
No, just that we listen to those while writing.
>>
>>27446479
I know Regidar did that. Couldn't say if he still does.

I've always wanted to write a whole story based on Rubber Soul.
>>
>>27446479
Sure, it's a thing. Personally, if I saw a story based off a song, or an album, I'm normally turned away unless that song or album has some significance to me. And that might not even be a good thing. If I see someone writing a story based off an album like Hunky Dory, Pink Moon, or something that I have a more sentimental attachment to, like Big Generator, I'm probably going to read it to see how the story gets it all wrong. An exaggeration, but you get my point. It's a bit like if someone wrote a crossover with another franchise or series that you care a lot about. You're either going to be very pleased, or easily let down.

The best ideas is probably just to treat it like any other kind of inspiration, and either just use it as a staging point for a freer story or to just take the ideas you find provoked by the song and use them in something where it seems to fit. But I dunno, do whatever.

I have or had notes that mention:
The Idol by Procol Harum.
Several songs from The Poison Boyfriend album by Momus.
Janelle Monáe's Metropolis series, though that's sort of cheating.
Some filk.
Some songs by Listener.
And more.

I mean, I'm probably not ever going to write any of these. But it means that at some point, probably while listening to the songs I got an idea for a story, a character or a plotpoint. And maybe I'm going to use some of that later, in some way.

>>27446537
Why not? Do it.

Has anyone read Regidar's Merriweather Post Pavilion fic? Is it any good?

>not quite sure how to adapt certain songs
Might be better to treat the album as a entity in itself rather than as a collection of songs. When you'd write a story inspired by a movie, you focus on the themes, ideas and emotion the motion give you, not on interpreting every scene.
But I guess it depends on how close you want to stay to the source. And I do get why you wouldn't want to leave anything out.

Not that I have a lot to say about the matter, you're way more productive than me in terms of horsewords. My opinions sadly aren't as qualified as I'd like them to be.

>>27447928
That would probably be for the better. I get that you want to make sure that we know he's big, but we don't need it forced upon us.
Also, and this might be a personal thing, but when you mention a specific height in some measurement, and keep bringing it up, it gets even weirder. When you just say that's he's "tall" or "huge" all the time, I just get the odd instance that he's of immense statute. But when you specify and repeat an amount, it seems like it's important that exactly that size. Does that make sense?

Might read a chapter or two and do some notes tomorrow.

I've read it too, but it seems he isn't that balanced, especially with his original author's note about his work being a "parable of truth". It seems he was just showing the good sides of not aborting, not taking in account the fact that the mare was raped and didn't even want to keep the baby

Yeah, and those things, ironically, always seem to ignore the kid's position.
Even if the kid is never told about being a rapechild, the fact will always hang over his and the mother's head-- being rapted is a traumatic experience, and it'd take the woman years to not see the rape every time she sees her own child.

Many writers make it their duty to write 2000 words a day at any cost to form a habit.
>>
>>27452631
That's a lot of words. If I could do 500 a day that would be a miracle.
>>
>>27452668
How much do you want to bet that you post more words on 4chan everyday?
>>
>>27452668
Yeah, 2000 a day is beyond nanowrimo tier (1667/day)
>>
>>27452668
You're not gonna become a bodybuilder overnight. The kind of people who write thousand of words per day do so out of long-form habits.

The key is to be consistent and diligent. Say you manage to write two hundred words one day, the following day force yourself to write at least another two hundred, even if it's painful. The following day do the same and keep going until you're used to do that , and then aim for more. four hundred, five hundred. keep going for as long as it takes until you progressively can become more constant in your writing.
>>
>>27452681
I don't. I mostly lurk. I've been wanting to write a green for a couple of weeks now(as well as finish the long overdo chapter) but just can't manage to write it. I have it all in my head but I just cant get it into words.

I know the struggle.
The only advice I can give you is to pour out everything you have into the page, just write out whatever comes to your mind, however it comes.
It's easier to edit/rewrite what's already there than to stare at a blank page.

Reminder that twilight would want you to read classical literature and studies to improve your mind rather than just brain rotting fan fiction.
>>
>>27456392

Twilight reads Daring Do unironically, and they're written at a level that Dash- a girl who clearly hasn't read any non-homework fiction in at least a decade- can pick it up and enjoy it with no problems. So no, I don't think she has any problem with you reading pop writing instead of "classical literature."
>>
>>27456533
Nope, she read them to support her friend. Do you really think a actual genius would read shit like that? Even then the writing must be compelling, its basically a biographical novel which she reads a lot of, explaining why she would read it even through it masquerades as a pop book.

One more quick point, fanfiction would be no where never the level of quality of a experienced author writing about her life.

My point being, a certain purple pony thinks you are a faggot.
>>
>>27456648

>Nope, she read them to support her friend.

DYEWTS?

>its basically a biographical novel which she reads a lot of, explaining why she would read it even through it masquerades as a pop book

You realize you're describing stuff like Smile and Diary of a Wimpy Kid as much as Daring Do, right? Unless you consider stuff like that "compelling" by definition, I see no reason to assume that Do isn't written at the same level as any typical children's/young adult series

>fanfiction would be no where never the level of quality of a experienced author writing about her life

I don't know whether you have a depressingly low opinion of fanfiction, a charmingly naive view of the quality of published fiction, or both.

Twilight reads it, again she is a very experienced reader so it is safe to assume the book is written far better than your average fan fiction

>I don't know whether you have a depressingly low opinion of fanfiction, a charmingly naive view of the quality of published fiction, or both.
I have a very low option of both, but if I had to read either a random book or a random fan fiction I'd certainly pick a random book.

The Celestia Code is now available as a Hardcover book on Lulu (http://www.lulu.com/shop/iisaw/the-celestia-code/hardcover/product-22714358.html).

I didn't realize that there were websites where you could put a fanfic up and people could order a copy at any time, unlike those one-time print runs that I see every so often (Past Sins, Pirene, FO:E). Are there any other fics available like this? Now that I finally have money I might go back and buy some.

This is why people are outcasts in the first place. A normal person doesn't care, they just don't go around talking about their hobbies. If someone asks, tell them, but don't be a sperg about it.
>>
>>27462363
I have two of those funko vinyl figurines on a shelf. That and a Rainbow Dash toy my brother bought me as a joke once he found out I was into pony.

I'd definitely buy a hardcover fanfic if the cover wasn't too obvious.
>>
>>27462400
I'm not actually an outcast, and a few people know I watched MLP, but at least in my country if you start buying merch it's definitely seen as super fucking weird.
If your hobby is unusual or implies fapping to horses, you do like everyone else and keep it private.

>>27462403
Fair enough, I guess.
>>
>>27462425
If you buy MLP merch, or merch in general? The former is obvious, to normies it just looks like a grown man playing with Barbie dolls.
>>
>>27462434
I'm not sure what merch in general is, but buying toys or barbie dolls or pony anything is definitely way into creepy guy territory.
>>
>>27462444
The solution is easy then, get some extremely weird hobby that will male pony look normal in comparison.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lrMRUz69p7HblKtGTry9OihBwgoppJCBHphois0zgnQ/edit?usp=sharing

Oh, and I thought about that whole wet dream thingie I talked about in the last thread. In the end, I only plan to have a few dreams with hardcore cuddling in them, interspersed with the general Slice of Life. It serves the same purpose--signaling Starlight's growing desire for physical intimacy--without going overboard before the end.
Plus, I do love me some descriptive cuddling.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

>h.s.w., chapters 13-14

A changeling killed somebody in Canada, so the HIVE sends Moon to investigate. They also send a bodyguard, one Celestia Arturia Moynihan. Ms. Moynihan, as it turns out, is a crazy person:
>My name’s Arturia. You can call me just that – no Artie, Arts, Turi or whatever. Also, if you make a single Fate Stay/night joke or whatever, I’ll rip your fucking balls off.
>I’m your assistant, not your concubine, so don’t expect me to fuck either of you or both, that’s not my job.
>If I do sleep with you, no preggers. I like keeping my body as is, got that?
>[several paragraphs of her blatantly hitting on North to make Moon jealous]
Oh wait, disregard that. Five minutes later, she becomes completely reasonable, and now she's on perfectly good terms with Moon and North.

Moon and her new BFF fly to Canada, and visit the set of the latest movie by the Vandervort siblings, "the hottest director/screenwriter/producer combo in Hollywood at the moment". These big shots are working on what turns out to be a trashy, low budget horror movie. Moon and Arturia meet up with Arturia's half-sister (an actress, and also a changeling) and do a bit of investigating. Eventually, we get to the real meat of the chapter, which is Arturia's life story:
>two sisters, Gabrielle and Galadriel yes, that's actually her name
>Galadriel marries this guy Alexander and has a kid (Arturia)
>then she finds out Alexander was cheating on her, with Gabrielle
>on the way to visit a divorce attorney, she gets in a car crash and dies
>less than a year later, Alexander marries Gabrielle
>they also have a kid, Taylor
>they raise Arturia and Taylor as sisters
>recently, Arturia learned all this
Hope I got all that right, it's a bit of a clusterfuck.

Also, Equestria-Luna discovers (through a dream of North's) that Moon is alive, and vows to hunt her down. North says "nah fuck off" but otherwise provides no details that might actually convince Luna to do so.

I do whatever's updating. There was a HSW chapter a couple weeks ago and I finally got around to writing it up.

The 7DSJ chapter was pretty boring so I'm waiting for the next one. Octavia went crazy punched a bunch of people so everyone is very unhappy. Sunset magics away a concussion, then realizes she has to pretend to be out of it for a while, since normal people don't recover instantly from that shit. And finally, Scilight finds a letter from Pony Twilight to Sunset, which is a Big Deal for the story but I'm pretty sure nobody ITT cares but me.

>>27468294
You know how there's some debate about the exact effect of the Elements on NMM, whether they were an exorcism or just therapy? Well, in HSW, they were both. They split NMM from Luna, fixed up NMM to not be evil and crazy any more, and then sent NMM to earth (naturally).

Moon is that non-evil NMM. Luna sees her in a dream and decides to hunt her down, because as far as she knows, the Nightmare is still out there being evil and shit. North, being a moron, just says "no, go 'way" instead of explaining anything at all about the situation.
>>
>>27468557

Ah, fair enough. Didn't mean to come across as rude or anything, but I wasn't sure you were even still around until you put up the HSW bit.

Though if there's been a delay (again, what surprise given that author's track record), does this mean you might end up seeing what on earth that FNAF sidestory is all about? The cover implies Freddy getting his robot brains blown out and, quite honestly, sounds amusing if nothing else, provided the whole thing is just the animatronics rightfully getting shot up like any sane person would want to do.

That's my biggest problem. I absolutely hate starting to write, but, without fail, once I get going, I end up thinking "man, this is great. I need to do this every day." Then the whole thing repeats the next time.

On average I write 1500 words a day. Sometimes ~8000, sometimes not at all. Such is the life of a mood-swinger. This is actually when I was working on my fic, which is now finished, so now I'm in the planning phase of something else so there's clearly less writing and more thinking until I start that first draft of chapter one.

I knew there was a reason I was still part of the Austraeoh group even after I fell off SSnE's wild ride.

I'm amazed this hasn't happened before, IC started including commenter's names into the story as early as the second half of Austraeoh, why are only now people making requests for character stand-ins?

Seriously, this is a dead ass thread.
>>
>>27491699
Welcome to a general.
Sure it's pretty slow, but turns out people care enough to keep the thread alive, and it's better to keep it in one place than make lots of small threads.

>it's not really about fimfiction much
It's about the stories on fimfiction primarily, simply because there's usually not much to say about the site itself.

But if you want to talk about how knighty is a lazy fag because there's still no FimFim app in 2011+5 or how the featured box is worthless, go for it I guess.

This isn't a circlejerk, it's a slow thread. Maybe you're used to /b/ where your shitposts fall of the board after 5 minutes to be replaced by more anonymous shitposts, but this place wors differently.

>Why isn't this thread being hunted by moderators? This is pretty off-topic.
If you want to start playing the b& game, the fimfic thread is far from the top of the list.
We don't spam crap all over the board, we don't attract porn dumps, and it's certainly not worse than any other general.

We provide writing advice, we write stories, we discuss fanfiction, lore, canon and fanon, we argue whether certain genres are inherently bad or not, we recommend fics to newcomers, we review fics we've just finished.
The thread is sometimes dead (it took us three days to reach bump limit a few months ago) and sometimes fast (it took us less than ten hours to reach bump limit not long before the slow one). It's still much more alive than all those retarded generals on /mlp/ focusing on incredibly stupid ideas and specific fetishes filled with nothing but cancer.
I really don't see how anything in this thread is off-topic, as opposed to CYOAs only connected to MLP by the fact that the characters have pony anatomy or threads dedicated to random characters which are just picture dumps coupled with waifu circlejerking.
Just leave us be. This board died in 2013.

>it'd be best to delete the entire board by now since it should belong In /Co
Apart from the "/Co" part (seriously what the fuck), how fucking new are you?
This is a containment board. Every autist in existence who didn't watch MLP in 2011 still gets triggered whenever the word "pony" comes up.

>And, all I see are bumps and sparse discussion lad.
All I see is someone who opened this board an hour ago and has no idea what he's talking about.
>>
>>27493585
So? Ponies are a cartoon and belong in co. The only reason mlp is created was for the fandom culture was pretty massive. But, now that it's lost the interest, it doesnt require a full fledged board any more. And dont use vp as an argument because pokemon is ten times bigger than mlp. Also, do you know how many autists hate adventure time, Steven universe, and homestuck? Same fucking shit.

It really isn't. Even furries are more accepted on 4chan than MLP nowadays.
I'm a semi-regular /co/ poster, I frequen /sug/ and I can tell you without any hesitation that none of those fandom receive as much hate as the "brony" fandom has been getting since 2011. While other people stopped caring, 4chan is still strongly against anything pony.
I'd like to direct you towards the global rule on 4chan saying that anything pony-related outside of /mlp/ is a bannable offense. This includes reaction images, discussion and links.
Pretty recently, a fighting game called Them's Fighting Herds has been forcefully contained to this board solely because it's being made by a studio called Mane6, which uses an engine they've built for a cancelled game called Fighting is Magic. All discussion related to this game has been banned from /v/ and /vg/ and is a bannable offense, despite having not a single pony in it.
Besides, even if this board was removed, look how many retarded generals there are. The best possible solution for saving /mlp/ would be another Scruffening or the creation of /mlpg/ solely for shitty fetish generals.

It's really sad how this board's quality has declined since our amazing mods decided to "improve" it a few years ago.
Remember when moot said we'd be the ones shaping this board to be what we want it to be because he has no clue what this community was like?
Remember when we were allowed to post porn freely, which scared off newfags from ponychan?
Remember when self-moderating actually worked and wasn't going to get you banned?

I do. I have done stories based on songs quite often. Sometimes it's just a titular reference, but other times I actually go the full mile and use the song as inspiration.

I also write stories based on entire albums (each song being a chapter), and I create series based on band discographies. I can give you a list of all the bands I have lined up for fics currently, if you'd like.

No, I'm just an egomaniac who showed up and ctrl-f'd his name so he could see if he was mentioned at all

Against my better judgement, I went and read some of this.

"The World within the Web"
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/312711/the-world-within-the-web

This fic is the biggest disappointment out of any I have ever read, even more so than AAG. It's so close to being good, just ruined by one thing.

This is essentially a >nohooves high fantasy story featuring a religious order dedicated to the M6, and a pretty good one at that. The problem is, the author based all the factions on RL internet communities, so you get discussions about the makeup of the "Brony Collective", its history fighting wars at "the Chan", and its current relations with "Reddit" (it's literally just called Reddit, not even trying to be creative). All the meta references are a constant distraction from what is otherwise a pretty good story so far. If the author had only renamed all the groups and been a tad less obvious about the inspiration for them, this story would go straight from meme tier to 6-7/10 at least.
>>
>>27503350
>The problem is, the author based all the factions on RL internet communities
Wait, that sounds familiar...
Wasn't there a guy a long time ago who said was making a story starring personifications of 4chan boards?
>>
>>27503440
I do remember that post, but this one lumps together all of 4chan as "The Chan". The focus is more on interactions between 4chan/reddit/bronies than between individual 4chan boards.

I wouldn't be surprised if the author has never actually visited 4chan

What would be common crimes for a would-be police in Ponyville handle?

What about Everfree related stuff?
>>
>>27503968
Indecent exposure.
>>
>>27504442
How so?
I don't think the Everfree and the effects it may have over Ponyville would fall under the police jurisdiction beyond damage control and helping the citizens stay safe.
>>
>>27497558
If you think it means an accountant working for corporate figuring out what's going on with the help of Twilight, then you'd be correct.

So that one anon finally wrote his fic. I wonder if he ever solved the problem of people having multiple tabs open.

>>27503968
>theft
>trespassing
>public drunkeness
>domestic violence, if you want to get edgy

>>27504442
That wouldn't be anymore a crime than a tornado would be. That's all natural disaster-tier, unless you're talking about one of those cliche cults or spoopy abandoned zombie towns.
>>
>>27490147
Are you happy anon? It updated
>>
>>27504464
that. with all the mares running around waiving their tails around, every stallion in ponyville is probably trotting through town square with all five legs swinging.

on the other hand, since no one wears pants, horsecock being horsecock is just a part of everyones day and you only risk a run in with the law if you do something actually offensive with it

>>27503968
public intox
destruction of private property
destruction of public property
assault
B&E
tresspass
criminal mischief
dischrge of a firearm (err party cannon) within city limits

seem to be the more common ones that weve seen canonically. fraud pops up once or twice as does kidnapping but those are rare. the entire towns racist, but racism isnt a crime
>>
>>27503440
No, he was writing about people who were part of a community becoming personifications of that community, like bronies becoming ponies, 4chan posters becoming an Anon-like guy etc.
>>
>>27507094
that sounds even worse

Yeah, party cannons (even party tanks) are legal.
>>
>>27507187

That broke my immersion. Like, are they running Windows? I'd go with a different simile.
>'Who just happened to be driven insane..'
It's italicized, so we know it's Dash's unspoken thought, so the single quotes aren't serving any purpose here.

Nice story, I laughed.

well we hit bump limit but we're still on page 1.

Oh, I've already got the ITT, the "burnt out after reading" thing, removed the competition link, chose a picture etc.
I'm just waiting to post it now.
>>
>>27507320
good work

>removed the competition link,
oh yeah that was a thing. did anyone actually submit an entry?

also updated the review pastebin. a dozen reviews in 2.5 months be nice if more folks bothered posting reviews on occasion
>>
>>27507341
>did anyone actually submit an entry?
No.

Not a single person submitted a single word.
>>
>>27507349
now the real puzzler- if anyone but bleedin posted that competition would the results have changed at all?

alternatively, if one of our popular namefags posted it would anything have changed?

if our judges werent our most semi-active writers and prohibited from entering, would that have changed anything?

Id like to pretend things might have gone slightly different if bleedin had a better sense of timing. but in reality i know better
>>
>>27507378
>if anyone but bleedin posted that competition would the results have changed at all?
Doubt it. Apart from like one person, nobody really hates him, especially not that much.

>if one of our popular namefags posted it would anything have changed?
Maybe?

>if our judges werent our most semi-active writers and prohibited from entering, would that have changed anything?
Definitely.
>>
>>27507389
things to keep in mind for future reference then.

maybe next time, when folks arent getting slammed with school shit we can try it again. i do like the idea of having contests and competitions. maybe open voting without sitting judges to drum up more participation
>>
>>27507435
>maybe open voting without sitting judges
That's a much better idea in my opinion. We simply don't have enough people to warrant having 3/4 judges.
>>
>>27507349
So you're telling me I could have submitted 1000 words of absolute gibberish and won?

>>27507378
>if anyone but bleedin posted that competition would the results have changed at all?
Not for me, at the very least. I just don't have time and energy to bother writing a story right now.
>>
page 9. might as well go for the new thread
