It's been awhile, hasn't it?

In this game, you play the role of Feather Dust, the tiniest pony in Equestria, as she tries to handle the colossal challenges of an inch-high pony's daily life.
>>
>>27207549
yes tinypone !
>>
>>27207549

Challenges like:
>waking up giants
>surviving blanket avalanches
>putting finishing touches on her airship
>taking her first test flight!
>contending with a crippling shortage of French fries
>negotiating with dentists and shopowners for supplies
>managing a microeconomy
>exchanging japes with her roommate
>installing a stereo system
>clearing out unneeded supplies
>making space for an overhauled electrical system

Let's test our reverse gear and speed control now that everything is wired up.
>>
>>27207773
Oh yeah, we'll basically done now, aren't we? Do we actually have anything left we need to add to the ship?
>>
>>27207794
Just the recharge circuit, and honestly the whole ship uses about as much power as a low watt nightlight, so we don't have to worry about our battery draining for a couple of days. Low priority.

Oh, and the lights, if we need them for after dark activities.
>>
>>27207620
Isn't it time to go to the Everfree Forest to do our experiments with the Poison Joke?
>>
>>27207896
I think so. After we test that everything works, of course. If we did everything right, then we have forward and backward at multiple speeds (which also means we have breaks now), a top speed that is about three times as fast, and a megaphone. Fly around the room a little. Give it a shakedown cruise.

Feather Dust wipes her brow and sits back, her tiny spine popping from sitting hunched over for so long.
>"Ooooh... Phew, that should just about do it!"
She rubs her hooves together with a gleeful grin on her face.
>"Now to test everything. Ready, Coco?"
The ever-faithful ant chirps and clicks her jaws together eagerly.
>"That's what I like to hear! Here goes..."
The first two switches are flipped, and the propeller spins.
>"Everything's normal here."
She flips the second set of switches, and the engine immediately reverses.
>"So far, so good...!"
Finally, she steps back and turns the potentiometer; when she glances back at the motor, it has indeed begun to slow down considerably.
>"Success!!"
>>
>>27208174
Awesome. Take it up into the air, fly over to Gulliver, and let him know that we're GOING ON AN ADVENTURE!
>>
>>27208174
I kinda figured we should test it in the actual air so we could see if the brakes work.
>>
Test fly it around the room
Test how well reversing the motor works as a method of braking.

I. Am. Tired. Of. These. Captchas. Expiring.
>>

The Ednosptrad cannot lift off the ground.
It's too heavy.
>>
>>27208376
Shit, how heavy are we now?
>>
>>27208376
Didn't we make sure that it had plenty of extra weight capacity? We should be fine, unless we have some huge rocks laying around in our ship that are trying to illegally immigrate across the border.
>>
>>27208376
Wait, we still have all the crap we loaded into here to weight it down, don't we? Plus the weights we put over the landing gear.

Take all that crapola out.

>>27208451
I think we have exactly that. We were worried about it flying away when we took out the lighter.
>>
>>27208376
guys we still have the small mirror to put on our ship to see behiden us
>>
>>27208376
We can get rid of ballast.
A few moments later we're flying.
>>
>>27208516
Already on there.
>"Good point, Boatswain. I have to be careful to keep the weight equalized. I was lucky that the motor was strong enough to overcome the weight that the dentist's mirrors added... I guess I have some wiggle room, but I can't add or remove too much weight."
>>
I just confirmed in the archive. We're still full of ballast.

Us:
>Our ship is full of junk right now, so just leave it all on and go way over weight. We'll dump crap later to get back down to where we want to be.

Feather confirms the plan:
>Yeah... I guess we CAN hook everything up and just dump all the excess weight later.

Do the same song an dance that we did initially. Remove ballast slowly until we hit the butter zone.

A glance around the interior of the airship quickly reveals the problem to Feather Dust.
>"Oh, right. I put all of my spare supplies in here so that we wouldn't float away."
She giggles softly.
>"Silly me. Boatswain, you know the drill, right?"
Jaw click.
>"Of course. You get rid of the heavy stuff, I'll handle the rest."
Coco utters a chirp of affirmation and swivels her head around, in search of unneeded cargo. With tiny pony and ant working together, dumping all that extra ballast is a trivial task.
But the potentiometer is (comparatively) like a lead weight. Even with as much weight removed from the airship as possible, it only just barely manages to lift off the table, after several seconds of struggling against the tyranny of gravity.
>"Finally!"
Playing with the switches and the potentiometer confirms to Feather that she's hooked everything up properly. Once she's finished with her experiments, she turns to Coco and gives the ant a hooves-up.
>"Now, let's go find Gulliver!"
Coco tilts her head and chirps.
>"Hmm... Yeah, we COULD just head out on our own, but I don't know if that's a great idea.
>Not that I'm scared of the forest, or anything! I just... Let me think about it a bit, okay?"
>>

>>
>>27208660
Snap off the handles of the dental mirrors to lessen the weight further. We only need the reflective bit, and we need enough extra lift to carry poison joke blossoms.
>>
>>27208808
Pull off the second wooden peg from the front of the ship also. That was originally the winch for the system for turning the lighter on and off, and we're not using it anymore. Every little bit of weight lost helps.

Feather Dust quickly comes to a decision:
>"Oh, yeah, I need Gulliver to open the door, don't I?"
Coco nods.
>"Um... Heehee. I knew that. Let's go get him."
The Ednosptrad slowly drifts into the living room, where Gulliver is playing a video game of some sort.
>"Hey, Gully, can you hear me?"
Gulliver's ear twitches and he looks back at Feather Dust's airship.
"Oh, hey, Dust." he says with a smile. "You sound louder now... and hollower. Megaphone's working, I take it?"
>"Yeah-huh! I told you paper and a straw would be good enough!"

Nothing inherently wrong with it really, it's just against board culture to use a name if you aren't actively posting some writing or drawing that you did.

Using a name on 4chan is like wearing a swimsuit to a wedding. There's nothing inherently evil about swimsuits, it's just not really the venue for it.

They shouldn't be namefagging. By responding to them you're punishing those who do the proper thing, filtering them, since any posts that respond to a filtered post get filtered as well.
>>
>>27209506

This guy's correct. If you were to start making content, like art or a quest, then you can use a name when you post said content, though you still aren't supposed to use it unless you really need to.

Here's a good video that explains it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgHNtzxO0y8

Tripcode, by the way, is the name for the jumble of numbers after a name. It's used to prevent people from impersonating you, as I'm doing now. You really don't need one of those.

I'm trying to be helpful because it's pretty clear that you're new here.

>>
>>27210709
Using a name, unless your contributing content like fan art or a SHORT green text, is disrespectful to both the QM and the other players. Also it could be used by the mods as grounds to delete the thread and ban people, like OIE.
>>
>>27209325
You tell gulliver "we should go to sugarcube corner for our test flight; Pinkie might be planning an 'ednosptrad's first expedition sendoff" party, so let's get that out of the way."
>>

I think that Twilight might be even better than Pinkie as far as putting the finishing touches on the ship goes. Get this whole thing enchanted up with protection spells or buoyancy spells or things like that. I'm sure she would be willing to help, considering that this is a mission of SCIENCE!

Remember, we have a hybrid ship here: part science and part magic.

Dusty looks down at her roommate with a fond smile.
>'Look at him, just sitting there on his cute little rump on the carpet, in front of his video game with a juice box... He's like a big kid.'
She sighs wistfully to herself.
"Dusty?" Gulliver repeats uncertainly.
>"Oh, what's up? I'm up!"
Realizing how horrible that that joke was, she desperately tries to change the subject.
>"Uhhh, hey, is that Pitfall?"
"Bitfall." Gulliver corrects her, glancing back at the game with a focused look on his face. "Yeah, you play as Daring Do trying to get through jungles and mountains and stuff to find treasure. I'm already up to the fifth level!"
>"Oh, cool. Good job."
Feather Dust makes herself look away from the technological marvel lighting up the living room before her.
>'I wish I could play that...'
The tiny pony shakes her head.
>'No, not now, Feather Dust. Stay focused!'
>"So, Gully, I finally got all the controls hooked up."
"Cool."
Gulliver doesn't look away from his game.
>"Now that I know it can fly and land safely, I want to take it on some field tests. Maybe to Sugarcube Corner, or how about Princess Twilight's place? I'm sure she could help me fine-tune this baby for our big expedition to the Everfree Forest!"
"Okay."
>"...You ARE coming with me, right?"
"Uh-huh."
Gulliver makes no effort to get up or shut off the Coltecovision.
>"...Can you at least open the front door for me?"
"Yeah sure."
Gulliver's horn glows, and the front door swings open. He still doesn't get up; he seems to be locked in combat with a large pixelated scorpion. When Coco sees it, she instinctively shies away from the blocky arachnid. Feather Dust sits back and thinks.
>'Should I keep trying to get him to come with me, or should I just wing it and fly solo this time?'

Feather Dust straightens up her captain's hat and turns to Coco.
>"Alright, Boatswain, listen up! Our second mate is currently incapacitated, so we're going to have to make this journey by ourselves! Some ponies might call us reckless, or even crazy, but did those ponies have the caliber of crew and craft that we do?"
Jaw click.
>"Dam right they didn't! So I say we throw caution to the wind and follow the credo of all of history's great explorers: Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Are you with me, girl?!"
Coco raises her front right leg and salutes her captain.
>"Then let's set sail! To Twilight's Castle!"

With her souped-up new motor and the potentiometer's weight and location pushing the Ednosptrad's center of gravity further forward, the aluminum airship speeds across town at (to Feather Dust) a breakneck pace. Many ponies stop and stare in wonder at the tiny machine zipping through the air. Some of them ooh and ahh with intrigue, and a few wave.
>"Look at our adoring public, girl! I bet we'll REALLY start bringing in the bits if we show this baby off at our next autograph-signing session!"
Coco chirps softly, her antennae pointing every which way as new ponies, buildings, and landscapes cross into the Ednosptrad's field of view.
Feather Dust smiles proudly from beside her crewmate.
>"It's amazing, isn't it, girl? Most Earthies don't ever get to see a sight like this... I guess most ants don't, either, huh? Do you like it?"
Coco chirps and turns to Feather Dust; the ants opens her jaws and gently closes them around Feather Dust, catching the captain by surprise.
>"Boatswain...?! What are... Oh."
Feather Dust smiles. Those little tongue things around Coco's mouth softly twitch and wiggle around, tickling Feather Dust's shoulder.
>"Heehee...! Hey, cut it out, girl!"
After a short tickle fight (that Coco wins quite easily), the crystalline castle at Ponyville's west edge finally comes into view.
>"The door is shut... Any ideas?"

Her first method of attack fails, but at least Feather Dust got some use out of her new reverse control scheme from it.
>"Keep your eyes peeled for a purple princess, girl. You're doubling as a lookout today."
Coco chirps and nods as the airship scoots past a window with a long hallway visible through it.
>"Nothing there."
Ten feet later, there's some kind of dining room.
>"Nothing there..."
Feather Dust pauses.
>"Wait."
She reverses direction and returns to the previous window.
There's still a long hallway visible through it.
She advances to the next window.
A circular dining chamber.
Feather Dust feels herself unconsciously scrunching with annoyance.
>"Geometry does NOT work that way."
She glances back at Coco and points.
>"Never make an anthill like that. It's an affront to Euclid of Alequindria."
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1X2wf9erppb
The next window contains a study. A purple figure is sorting through one of its many bookshelves.
>"Bingo!"
Feather Dust brings the airship as close to the window as she can bring it, tilting her megaphone towards it.
>"Princess Twilight! Hey, Princess! You got a second?"
Twilight's ear twitches a tiny bit, but she doesn't look up from her books.
>"HEY, PRINCESS!!!"
Twilight visibly jumps and looks around the room. Her eyes soon fall on the strange shape hovering outside her window, and she cautiously approaches.
"Can I help you?" she hesitantly asks through the glass.
>"IT'S ME, FEATHER DUST! I BUILT AN AIRSHIP!"
Twilight gets a surprised look on her face, and she quickly pushes the window open. As she realizes exactly what she's looking at, the surprise gives way to awe, and she smiles with intrigue.
"Feather Dust, you built this...?" she asks incredulously, looking around the Ednosptrad from as many angles as she can. "That's amazing! I've never seen such a small machine that can fly! This could totally change ponykind's views on aerodynamics! ...Um, would you like to come in?"

>"I'd love to! Can I land in there?"
"Oh, yes, please!" Twilight responds eagerly. "I'd love to see what your airship can do!"
Feather Dust grins smugly.
>"Wish granted."
The Ednosptrad zips into the room, making Twilight step back before the cloud envelope can smack her. With surprising dexterity, Feather Dust ferries her little airship across the library-like room in a lazy, swooping curve. A tilt of the propeller, and the Ednosptrad ascends as it turns, coming so close to the curving bookshelves that it nearly grazes them. As Feather Dust follows the curve of the room, she sees Twilight watching her with rapt fascination. Beaming with pride, Feather Dust tilts the wheel all the way and reduces the throttle, sending her vessel into a slow tailspin. As it nears the floor, she reverses the controls and brings herself to a near-halt, before softly touching down in the center of the floor.
>"Come on, Boatswain! We gotta introduce you to the princess!"
Feather Dust and Coco deboard, finding Twilight waiting just outside the gondola, her eyes locked onto the tiny vessel.
>"Hey, Princess. This is Coco. I saved her from a spiderweb and now she's my crewmate!"
Coco chirps at the princess, who smiles and curtsies to the ant.
"It's nice to meet you." she says with a small chuckle; then she turns her attention to Feather Dust. "That was incredible, Feather Dust! Please, you have to let me study your machine!"
>"You're not going to dismantle it, are you?"
Twilight waves a hoof dismissively. "I wouldn't dream of it! But studying you has given me so much insight on microbiology and physics; I'm sure your airship will give me just as much information!"
>"Then I'll answer as many questions as you want... in exchange for some enchantments."
Twilight tilts her head. "Enchantments? What do you mean? What kind of enchantments?"

>There's something strange about my players being nice to Twilight.

It's my opinion that it would be prudent that when encountering someone who is

1) 100x our size
2) able to shoot laser beams
3) a princess and thus able to get away with anything she wants to do to us
4) able to close the window

then the best course of action is to not be a dick.
>>
>>27217024
Well, buoyancy would be the top of my list. I'm currently at the upper limit of my carrying capacity, and I need to be able to carry any materials that I collect in an upcoming research mission. Can I get something that might add just a little more lift to my cloud? Not too much, I still need to be able to land, but just a little.

And anything for durability would be nice too, since I'm smol and squishable and the ship is made of aluminum.

>"The most important thing I can think of right now is increased buoyancy. I need to carry extra supplies so I can do repairs and add new features on a whim, but the Ednosptrad is already nearing its maximum carrying capacity."
Twilight blinks. "What did you call it? The Ed...nom..."
>"Ed. Nosp. Trad. It's an acronym."
"An acronym for what?"
>"'Electromagnetically-driven non-rigid small pony transportation dirigible."
"I see..."
>"Mark 2."
Twilight smiles.
"Well, I do remember seeing a spell that makes clouds fluffier and loftier. It was in 'Chronicling the Construction of Cloudsdale, Second Edition.'"
>"Awesome! Can you do it now?"
"Well, I'm supposed to be meeting with the Mayor soon regarding the spring budget," Twilight responds in a thoughtful tone, "buuuut I've got a little extra time until I have to be at Town Hall. In exchange, I want to know all about the materials you used on the Ed... nostrad? Did I say it right?"
>"Ednosptrad."
"Right, sorry." Twilight plants her hooves and aims her horn at the diminutive dirigible. "Alright, you and Coco stand back."
Feather Dust and her boatswain do as instructed. Once Twilight is satisfied they're at a safe distance, she gets a look of intense concentration on her face. Her horn glows a vivid fuschia with small orbs of bright light dancing around it, before a beam is fired out at the Ednosptrad. The envelope of the airship bulges and twitches under the magical charge, and in just a few seconds the Ednosptrad lifts off the floor like a helium balloon and drifts up to the ceiling, complete with slidewhistle.
>"Whoa... Not bad! I'm going to need some more ballast now, but this is great!"
"I'm glad you approve." Twilight responds with a proud smile. "And I'm sure I have something in this castle you can use to weigh the Ednosptrad down. But first..."
The young alicorn is now holding a quill pen and notepad in her magical grip. "How about that list of construction materials?"

>"Gladly, Princess! Listen up, because there's a lot of components."
Twilight adjusts her grip and narrows her eyes at Feather Dust. "Bring it on."
Feather Dust smiles proudly.
>"Okay. The main structure is one aluminum can, two plastic headphone cowls as reinforcements, one on either end internally, toothpick reinforcement struts, cardboard floorboards, steel hanger landing struts and envelope connectors.
>The steering system is two craft foam drag sails on toothpick arms, string to pull them, all on one line around a wooden game peg as a steering wheel, with rubber bands used as extension springs to keep the steering system centered at rest."
Twilight's eyes sparkle as her pen flies across the notepad, an occasional nod or soft "Uh-huh." assuring Feather Dust that the princess is still with her.
>"The propulsion system is a bit more complex: It's made of a 9-volt rechargeable nickel cadmium battery, brushed electromagnetic ba-... er, MOTOR made out of headphone magnets, DIP switch control board set up to run the motor in either direction, potentiometer wired as a variable resistor to control speed, and a pedal made out of folded cardboard.
>Lastly, the lift is generated by a happy magic cloud in a silk envelope made by Rarity. Isn't it pretty? I'm especially happy about that!"
Twilight uses her magic to pull the airship back down for her to inspect. "I don't recognize these symbols on the top," she replies, "but I'm sure that you have a good reason for them being there."
>"Uhhh, of course I do!"
"The stitching is so neat, and the fabric is soft and durable... Rarity did great work on this!" Twilight says enthusiastically. Her eyes drift across the airship, to a clock on her table. "Oh, Feather Dust, I hate to cut this visit short, but I really need to get going.
>"Awww..."
"Sorry." Twilight offers a small smile. "I guess I can help you with one more thing, but then I've got to get going. So, what'll it be?"

>"Can you enchant my megaphone to make it louder? I made it out of paper and it's not that powerful."
"One spell of sonancy coming up!" Twilight answers, taking hold of the Ednosptrad once more and pointing her horn at the megaphone. Again, it glows bright purple, but this time the motes dancing around it look like music notes. The beam of enchanting magic fires at the amplifier, making it glow pinkish for a moment before fading.
"There you go." a distracted Twilight announces. "And here I go, too. Sorry, Feather, I'd love to talk some more, but I'm gonna be late. I'll leave the door open so you can get out, and all the books in here are from the library so feel free to peruse them if you like."
Feather Dust glances up at the mountainous bookshelves rising up before her.
>"...Kay. Oh, by the way, can you toss me a rock when you get outside? I still need ballast to keep my ship from floating away."
A sound like a laser cannon from one of Gulliver's video games rings out behind Feather Dust, and several orangey-yellow crystals connected by string clank to the floor a few feet from Feather and Coco.
>"Whoa...!"
"Those should work." Twilight says from the door. "They're hanging all over the castle. I don't know why; they just regrow every time I try to remove any of them."
On cue, another thread descends from the ceiling like a black vine; new crystals appear along its length with small crackling noises.
>"Weird..."
"Yeah. Gotta run!"
And then the purple princess is gone, leaving Feather Dust and Coco alone in the castle.

>>

We can easily fly up to Rainbow Dash 's and Cloudsdale.
>>
>>27231536
We could already do that even before the spell was applied. We have no height limit except for the natural height the cloud rises to.
>>
>>27231831
The lift of cloudmatter, like helium would diminish as we go higher.
>>
>>27232056
Yes, but it reaches equilibrium at the level clouds rise to, which is the level Cloudsdale and Rainbow's house is at.
>>

>>
>>27232210
I believe Cloudsdale is several hundred feet or more above Rainbow's house.

It's probably due to the language used, but i always imagine our airship behaving like it used helium.

>>27233643
Different types of clouds at different heights, yes. Rainbow's is probably not the same type of cloud as Cloudsdale's
>>
>>27233643

Even so, we could still go above our cloud's natural level just by engaging the engine and flying upwards. We'd just sink down to the balancing level once the motor was off.

Feather Dust helplessly looks up at her airship.
>"Um... Coco, any ideas?"
The ant chirps and responds in an unexpected way: She grabs Feather Dust in her jaws and carries the tiny horse, making for the nearest wall and beginning to climb.
>"Easy, girl! Don't drop me!"
The dutiful ant marches up the bookshelves and then across the ceiling; with a little skillful maneuvering, she manages to flip herself and her captain right-side up again onto the Ednosptrad's envelope, carefully skittering down it, the support system, and finally back onto the gondola, where Coco opens her jaws and drops Feather Dust back inside.
>"Good work, girl! I don't know what I'd do without you."
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1X2wf9erppb
Back at the helm of her airship, Feather Dust engages the motor and slowly descends to the floor of the library room. There, Coco chews through the crystal hangers and brings them aboard one at a time; by the fourth crystal, the Ednosptrad is just barely lifting off the floor. Each crystal seems to weigh less than the potentiometer, but more than the 9 volt battery.
>'So each crystal weighs between 40 and... a few hundred grams.

The Ednosptrad makes a trek back across town to Gulliver's and Feather Dust's house.
Thankfully, the door is still open. Gulliver is still in the same spot where Feather Dust left him.
>'Thought so...'
The Ednosptrad drifts behind Gulliver and off towards the stairs, up to the bathroom.
There, Feather Dust lands and uses a tack to hold down the pedal so her airship can't fly off on its own.
>"Boatswain, grab one of those ballast crystals and drag it up here."
According to the scale, the crystal by itself weighs just under a third of a pound.
>'One third of a pound times four crystals, plus the weight of the airship...
>The whole Ednosptrad must weigh almost 2 pounds by now. That's twice what that weather mare said the envelope could carry. Princess Twilight did a heck of a job on that enchantment.'
>"Alright, all aboard! We're shipping out to the Everfree!"
Coco, Feather Dust, and the crystal are soon back on-board. Now there's only one crewmate left to pick up...
>"Gully! You lazy bones, you're still playing that game? It's time for our maiden voyage!"
"Okay."
Aside from his button presses, he doesn't move.

Feather Dust and Coco watch and wait patiently (okay, *impatiently* in Feather Dust's case) as Gulliver maneuvers the blocky Daring Do over pits and through some kind of ancient temple. After what feels like an eternity, Gulliver finally finds some kind of treasure and a catchy little tune plays. The level counter at the top of the screen goes up from 6 to 7.

Feather Dust brings the Ednosptrad in for an emergency landing near the wall, then she and Coco climb out and inspect their newest obstacle.
Coco's antennae twitch with curiosity.
>"I agree, girl. I'd love to yank this thing out of the wall, too. But it's too big for us to pull out."
Feather Dust thoughtfully rubs her chin.
>"I think we need a different idea this time..."
>>
>>27247472
there has to be a power button on the t.v to turn it off
>>
>>27247472
Boop the power button. That or find the remote.
>>
>>27247472
Take a spare piece of wire into the back of the game system and poke it into either end of any random component to short it out. Aim for a chip in the console itself and stay away from the cartridge, we want to make it crash without destroying save data.
>>
>>27247519
>>27247531
Not heavy enough unless we land the Ednosptrad on it, and I don't think we can hit the power button that accurately. Also I doubt remotes exist.

>>27247544

>>
>>27247472

>>
>>27247544
This plan is probably gonna destroy the console.

I say we just leave him and act pouty when we get back.
>>
>>27247544
I don't know about this.

Couldn't that damage the console?
>>
>>27247610
>>27247635
Not if we short out the power supply. That would be functionally identical to unplugging it, since it would stop all power into the system.
>>
>>27247669
If you promise that it could immediately be fixed without any chance physical damage to the system.
Any at all.
>>
>>27247690
If you want to be absolutely as safe as possible then we short out the power button or the reset button. Shorting them would be the same as pushing them, since both actions just complete the circuit. That way there is no risk at all.
>>
>>27247706
Okay good, let's do that.
>>
>>27247706

Even so, Feather Dust and Coco take a look around the Coltecovision's monitor, but aside from a few screws and the cartridge slot, there's no points of access that an errant piece of metal can be shoved into.

>"Screw this, I'm in a hurry."
Feather Dust and Coco board the Ednosptrad once more, lifting off and making a beeline for Gulliver's face. He barely registers it for a moment.
But once it clicks in his head that Feather Dust is blocking the screen, he starts trying to peek around it.
Alas, his efforts are useless.
"Hey, what's the big idea?!" Gulliver demands. "Down in front!"
>"Gully!! You said ONE level!"
"Yeah, the level I'm on. When I'm done with the game, I won't be on a level anymore!"

The unicorn scrunches with indignation and gently moves Feather Dust's airship aside with his magic.
And he sees that he's gotten a game over.
"WHAT?! NO!! NOOOOOooooo!!!"
With a pathetic wail, Gulliver flops over onto his controller, one of his hooves desperately reaching towards the screen, trying vainly one last time to grasp his fleeting victory. "Feather Dust," he whines with exasperation, "it took me... What time is it?"

Feather Dust's muzzle involuntarily scrunches up. She tries not to let her eyes moisten up.
>"D... Don't call my airship junk."
Gulliver just scrunches back.
>"Don't call my video games unhealthy."
Feather Dust takes a breath through her snootle.

Gulliver glances away. "Good for you."

Feather Dust glances back at Coco, who is nudging her withers with an antenna.
>"Yeah, I know... He HAS been spending a lot of time helping me lately. Even more than he usually does, actually. Maybe I should be nicer to him..."
The miniature mare looks down.
>"But... He doesn't have to call my airship garbage, either."
Coco just clicks her jaws expectantly.
>'Come on, Feather Dust, don't be like that. For once in your life, be the bigger pony.'
Feather Dust picks her chin up and returns to her post.
>"I'm sorry, Gully. You're right: There's nothing wrong with playing video games. We both have healthy hobbies."
Gulliver looks back up at Feather Dust, his face less pouty now.
>"...Which is exactly why we should break the mold and go do something risky, like picking some poison flowers in the scary forest full of monsters!!"
Gulliver's face turns pale. "Aw, Celestia..."
>"Now who's WITH ME?!?"

"I'm guessing you'll just go without me if I say 'No,' won't you?" a defeated Gulliver finally asks.

How do you imagine we would be able to build a laser? We don't have access to any semiconductors we could use to build a diode laser, and we don't have access to any appropriate gaseous substances to use as a gain medium in a gas laser. As for tasers, we have a tenth the number of diodes we'd need to build one and our battery was selected for a slow long drain instead of rapid discharge, so it wouldn't be good for running a it anyway. I really don't see us being able to do much in the way of weaponry.

Feather Dust considers making a checklist of items to bring, or possibly constructing a laser of some kind, but she's feeling too lazy to go through with it. Instead, she simply takes a short break while Gulliver makes a series of clinking and shuffling noises in the next room. Finally, he reenters the living room, his slow, wobbly gait betraying his apprehension about the idea of entering the Everfree Forest.
"Okay," he says shakily, "I, uh... I think... I'm ready..."

Feather Dust can't help but giggle with glee at Gulliver's... selection of tools.
>"What the buck, Gulliver? Hee hee! Why are you wearing a box?"
"It's for protection!" the unicorn insists. "You know what kind of monsters lurk in that forest!"
>"Eee hee hee... Well, you should at least use a frying pan as a weapon, Gully. It's less likely to break, and it makes this nice THUNK sound when you hit your target!"
"But I don't want to hit my target. I just want to be ready in case I have to protect either of us..."
A warmth fills Feather Dust's chest, making her smile fondly at the wimpy young stallion. Even though Gulliver is so scared that he can barely stop his legs from shaking, he's determined to come along and try to protect her.
>'If I can figure out how to make poison joke work right, I am going to rock his gigantic world.'
Once Gulliver is properly armed, Feather Dust fires up the Ednosptrad once more, leading the way out of the house with a jubilant cry.
>"ENGINES TO FULL! SET SAIL FOR THE EVERFREE FOREST!"
The path from downtown Ponyville to the edge of the forest is thankfully a short one. Even so, the difference between the short, puffy trees of Ponyville and the tangled Everfree canopy is almost literally like day and night. Gulliver slows his pace as he follows Feather Dust across the eastern bridge and the fearsome forest looms over them.

Feather Dust presses down on her hoof pedal, and the Ednosptrad jerks forward, across the invisible border between Ponyville proper and the forest. Almost immediately, the afternoon sunlight is all but erased, blocked out by thick tangles of tree branches and creeping vines lashed across the pathway.
>'It's pretty spooky in here.'
>"It's dangerous to sail blind. Boatswain, hit the lights."
Coco chirps inquisitively and tilts her head.
>'Oh, crap, we didn't install the lights, did we?'
Luckily, Gulliver's horn lights up as Feather Dust tries to think of a solution. It's funny how the easiest answer to a problem can elude us so, isn't it?
>"Good work, Gulliver! Maybe I should have conscripted you as a lighthouse instead of a second mate."
"Standing in one spot all day doesn't sound like my kind of job, thanks." he replies dryly.
>"What if you had a swivel chair?"
Gulliver opens his mouth to retort, but he stops before he can get a single word out; he appears to be seriously considering this proposal.
"Would it have a cupholder?" he finally asks.
>"Do they make swivel chairs with cupholders?"
"...I think so?"
>"I'll log that as a future mission, to go to the chair store and find a swivel chair with a cupholder."
"Cool...!"
The trek through the forest isn't beset by any major problems, but the path is long and, in some areas, so faded that it's hard to make out. Up ahead, the path looks like it splits, or worse, vanishes entirely.
>"Oooh, this could be a problem."
"How come?" a nervous Gulliver asks.
>"Because I didn't come up with a contingency that involves going off the beaten path, and I doubt that there's anypony crazy enough to LIVE HERE that might be able to point us in the right direction."

"So, what should we do?" Gulliver asks, biting his lip and glancing around."
Feather Dust puts a hoof over her eyes and squints into the forest. Though the canopy is thick with foliage, there's an occasional break in the treetops that allows some precious sunlight to filter in.
That's when Feather Dust catches sight of movement in one of them. Off in the distance, there looks to be a small, dark cloud billowing...
>'Is that smoke...?'
Turning the Ednosptrad fully towards the dark pillar in the sky, Feather Dust can see that the dark grey mass does appear to be rising, and it looks too dense and narrow to be a forest fire.
>"A-ha!"
"What? What is it?!" Gulliver asks, brandishing his frying pan in terror.
>"Fire, second mate! That's a sign of civilization, or at least some hapless campers that might be able to assist us! We're veering starboard! Full speed ahead!"
"What does 'veering starboard' mean?" Gulliver asks.
Feather Dust sighs and rubs her forehead.
>"We go right at the fork."
"Oh. Okay."

The perilous path through the forest is not always clear, but with the smoke in the distance guiding her like the positions of the stars, Feather Dust and her crew soon find its source: in a small clearing about a half a mile into the forest, there sits a strange little hut, decorated with bizarre and frightening masks. Greenish-black smoke billows from its chimney.
"Is that a... house?" Gulliver asks softly, his knees visibly shaking again. "It looks like something the cannibal ponies of D'rzaat would live in! I don't think we should stop here, Feather..."

"Naval?" Gulliver asks, confused. "But you have an airship. Doesn't that make me a co-pilot?"
>"Pffffft. You would want to be a member of the chair force."
"Hmph... Not everypony can beat all 99 levels of Maverick the Sky Stallion, you know."
Feather Dust shuts up. Gulliver of all ponies being able to stay up for 28 hours straight WAS pretty impressive.
Even if it's been months and he's STILL bragging about it...
>"Well, no amount of beating pegasus sims is going to help us now. We need a navigator, or at least a map. And any pony who can survive out here must know the Everfree like the back of their hoof. So, go knock and get them to help us."
"Me?!" Gulliver squeaks. "Why do I have to knock on the creepy voodoo pony sacrifice house's door?"
>"Because I can't."
Those three words hit Gulliver like a brick. He spends a few seconds sputtering and half-gesturing, trying desperately to come up with a counter-argument. "I... But... Yeah, but-... you... this-... you... uh..."
Finally, he sighs and bows his head.
"Alright, I'll knock. But if I get cannibalized, I'm going to come back and haunt you, I swear on my life!"
>"That's the spirit! Now come on, I'll be right there to back you up."
At a snail-like pace, Gulliver creeps across the clearing and up the stairs, his teeth chattering as he approaches the door. Behind him, his magical grip on the frying pan glows almost pure-white.
He lifts his trembling hoof and raps it against the door.
A half a second passes.
"Nopony's here," he announces, quickly turning around, "time to go!"
Feather quickly maneuvers into his way.
>"Oh no you don't!"
"But Feather, this is a terrible i-"
The door behind him opens.
"...Hello?" a deep female voice with a strange accent asks. "Who is it that knocks... A pan set upon a box?"

>'The inhabitant of this little hut is a zebra? I've never seen one of those before...'
Gulliver looks up at the Ednosptrad with pleading eyes as the zebra begins to advance on his position.
>'Uh-oh! She's going to take Gulliver inside and open him like an EPS package! I better try and appease her with the song of her people.'
As the zebra takes a step outside of her door, Feather Dust dives in and tries to get her attention. Via rhyme.
>"Hello zebra, how do you do?
>I'm Feather Dust. Nice to meet you.
>We're here in the name of alchemy.
>Could you tell us about the Everfree?"
The zebra takes a step back, baffled by the tiny airship. "Kuruka kunywa veseel! Ni iga hotuba yangu!" she cries out.
>'Well that didn't work.'
>"Uhhh, I don't know what you just said, but we're looking for some poison joke. Do you know where we can find some? ...Also don't mind Gulliver here. He's scared of the Everfree Forest-"
"For good reasons!" he interrupts, before realizing he just blew his cover and swiftly clamping a hoof over his mouth.
>"That's why he's wearing that... uh, armor."
The zebra, who's barely moved since Feather Dust started speaking, turns her gaze to Gulliver. She stretches her neck out, finally catching sight of his head behind the box. Realization flashes in her eyes. She lowers her head to the floor, spotting Gulliver's four hooves.
"Ah!" she finally says to the box-clad pony. "You are not a package for delivering, but rather a pony who cannot stop shivering!"
Ironically, just then is when Gulliver DOES stop shivering; he swings his head around, looking a bit insulted. "Hey, are you calling me a coward?" he asks. "Because you're... kind of right, actually."
The zebra chuckles softly. "This forest indeed can give a fright, but in my hut, you'll be alright." Then, she turns her attention back to Feather Dust. "But what is this stunning toy that spoke? And why is it seeking poison joke?"

>"Gulliver, don't be dense. I've heard you can't trust unicorns and video games either, and that never stopped me. Now come on, chicken!"
"I am NOT a chicken!!" he hisses, following the Ednosptrad inside.
The interior of the zebra's hut is... interesting, decorated with colorful fabrics and strange masks. The walls, doors, shelves, and even some of the furniture are carved right into the giant tree that makes up the hut's main room, at the center of which is a shallow fire pit with a colossal cauldron set in it. The greenish smoke that Gulliver and Feather Dust saw through the trees seems to be coming from that giant pot.
Gulliver sniffs the air. "Well... It smells good, at least." he mumbles.
"Thank you." the zebra answers, sorting through a small book cupboard. "It is a changeling recipe for a cattail soup: so simple, yet it can invigorate a whole troupe."
"Changeling recipe...?" Gulliver mumbles. I didn't think they ate soup..."
"Anypony can appreciate a warm bowl, that will make their tummy warm and swole. But, I digress: You want poison joke, yes?"
>"You bet we do! Do you know where to find some, Miss... uh...?"
"Zecora." the zebra nods her head down politely. "It is a pleasant treat when I have new ponies like you to meet."
>"I'm Feather Dust! And you've already met box-boy over there. Come on, Gulliver, be polite and say hello to Zecora."
The unicorn can't raise his hoof high enough to properly wave, but he makes a valiant effort to produce a little wiggle. "H-hello there." he says with a somewhat sheepish grin.
"It is lovely to meet you two." Zecora answers with a friendly smile. "But let us discuss how I can help you. Pleasantries are nice to exchange, but you need something that can bring real change."
>"What did you have in mind?"
Zecora picks out a book and begins to nose through it. "A location is something I can easily provide, but more useful to you might be a guide."

>"That's better than I could've IMAGINED!!"
Feather Dust squeaks with such excitement that it somehow produces feedback. From her paper megaphone.
"Dayum, Dusty...!" Gulliver says, his ears pressed flat against his head.
>"Uh... Hee hee. I mean... Thank you, I appreciate it."
"You're welcome, Feather Dust." Zecora answers when she's done wincing. "But listen to me now, you must: There is a flower in the forest that I desire, for a new potion, it's an ingredient I require. If you feel unsafe, I will gladly lead you, and we will get your plant and mine, too. But if you feel no need for my maps and notions, then I'll remain here and brew you some potions. If my flower you can find, then I will repay you handsomely in kind."
>"I'm not following you. Are you going to take us to the poison joke and this flower you need?"
"I think she said that she'll either take us to find the plants we're both after, or she'll show us where they are and then stay here and make stuff for us. Basically, we either get a new party member or some sweet items."
Zecora nods. "I must commend that your friend can so easily comprehend."
Feather Dust turns the Ednosptrad torwards Gulliver in stunned silence.
>"...How did you get all that so easily?"
"Hello? Oubliettes and Ogres, remember?" Gulliver replies, a bit more proudly than a self-respecting pony would be. "She just offered us a basic two-choice action prompt. Now we just need to decide which choice to go with. What do you think, Captain?"
>>

>"I think that Zecora's experience with and knowledge of the forest will be the most useful to us. Even if she's a master brewer, the Everfree Forest is dangerous, and we have no idea where anything in it is."
Gulliver nods. "All good points..." he mumbles. "And usually in O&O, stocking up on special items preludes a boss encounter. And I don't think we've leveled up enough to face a boss."
>"What about a miniboss?"
"Have we even dealt with a mook yet?"
>"Are the forces of gravity considered mooks?"
"Only if you're Isaac Newtrot. And you're not Isaac Newtrot."
>"You don't have to rub it in..."
As Gulliver and Feather Dust banter, Zecora meanders around her hut, picking up small bottles and vials of various strange substances and stashing them on her person (equine?). Once she has gathered about a half dozen powders, potions, and trinkets, she returns to Gulliver and Feather Dust.
"If my guidance is what you request, then let us begin our botanical quest. If you have difficulty with any task, I'll gladly advise you if you just ask. Have you any questions before we depart, or do you think it is time for our search to start?"

>"I do have ONE question... What's up with that red-and-white mask? Something about it looks... kind of familiar."
"It is a relic from a foreign land," Zecora responds, tossing some kind of sparkling dust into her cauldron, "that was built upon the Arabian sand. The mask is said be a guard for the royal family's graveyard: A tomb of treasure that is locked with a key. Graverobbers who touch it are attacked viciously."
>"...By the mask?"
Zecora nods, the smoke billowing out of the cauldron blooming into different colors and shapes before Feather Dust's eyes. "A phantom dwells within the mask. Protecting the shah's tomb is its sacred task. When the key is lifted from its stone, upon the thief the mask shall hone. Only the sacred phrase of the king will make the mask stop attacking. Otherwise, it will strike down any fool who dares to defy the gravekeeper's rule."
As the rather grisly scene ends and the smoke dissipates, Zecora's rather stern face softens into a coy smile. "Of course, the tale of the mask's protective stare may simply overstate what is truly there, but even if it is simply myth, it is quite intriguing to decorate with."
Feather Dust and Gulliver exchange an uncertain look.
>'I hate to say it, but maybe Gulliver was right to be wary of this chick.'
>"O...kay then, well I think we're ready to go now."
"I agree." Gulliver chips in, nodding. "We should get going before it gets too late."

Zecora leads Gulliver and Feather Dust into the forest beyond her house. While the forest was foreboding on the way to the hut, beyond it the Everfree is downright inhospitable: The gaps in the treetops all but vanish entirely, and the trees become darker and more gnarled. Vines stretch across the few clear areas like massive spider webs, and odd noises of all sorts can be heard. Feather Dust and Gulliver can recognize some of them as insects and birds, but others are totally unrecognizable.
"This place doesn't sound very conducive to being alive." Gulliver remarks, glancing around warily. "How come you live out here, Zecora?"
"I do regret it once in awhile, but some of my potions are quite volatile." the zebra explains. "They can be toxic, or even explode, so I thought it best to isolate my abode. This way, nopony else can be hurt when something goes awry in my yurt."
"How considerate." Gully replies, stepping over a twisted root.
"Shh!" Zecora suddenly replies, coming to an abrupt halt.
"What?!" Gulliver asks, fear in his eyes.
"SHH!!" Zecora repeats sharply, before quietly responding: "Do not even whimper."
She nods to the trees off to her left.
"Wolves made of timber."
Gulliver immediately shuts up and retreats into his box like a big turtle, and Zecora is as still as a statue. The ponies are silent, save for the whirr of Feather Dust's engine.

Feather Dust wakes up, having nodded off at the helm for a minute there.
>'What did she say? Be quiet?'
Her ears twitch as she hears low growling.
>'Why isn't it working? What noise are they being attracted... to... OH CRAP!!'
The miniature mare steps off the pedal and backs off all of her controls, raising her hooves like she's under arrest. The tiny airship immediately goes silent - and without the engine to counter its buoyancy, the Ednosptrad begins to slowly drift towards the canopy.
>'Uh-oh.'
Several tense seconds pass. The growling ceases, but rustling and cracking can still be heard through the trees. Zecora slowly lowers her hoof, reaching into one of her many pouches and pulling out a powder that looks like sawdust. She holds it to her muzzle and blows it towards the trees. A few moments later, a hollow snuffling sound can be heard.
Then there's silence.
Then, the rustling sounds quickly fade into the depths of the forest.
Zecora breathes out a heavy sigh.
"The timberwolves have fled." she reports. "We can continue on ahead."
"...W-we can?" Gulliver answers, cautiously peaking out of his portable safe room. "Oh, thank Celestia. I was worried I was going to be dog food for a minute there... How's about you, Dusty?

"which means the cloud is getting stronger"
>>
>>27303529
>the cloud is getting stronger
That's not actually a thing that Twilight said. Are you suggesting Inept retcon how the spell works?
Also, our engine was on when we left Twilight's, so how could you know for sure what our buoyancy would have been without the engine engaged?
>>
>>27303683

there were at least 2 points where the engine was off and the airship wasn't floating away.
>>
>>27303885
You are making a lot of assumptions, anon. We don't know if the ship was anchored back then, or if was behaving differently indoors compared to outdoors due to lack of air currents moving it around, or what. There are plenty of explanations besides the one you came up with that don't require us to retroactively change the information that Twilight told us. I'm not saying that it couldn't be true that the cloud is getting stronger, but there is no real evidence for that assumption, and what you were posting was a retcon, not a suggestion of what to do. Inept gets to decide those things.
>>
>>27303885
The cloud isn't getting stronger, anon. Twilight made it stronger in one moment; the effect isn't increasing in strength as time goes by.

Sorry, just got home from Mother's Day stuff. Too tired to update. Will update tomorrow.

In the interim,
>>27303529
The ship WAS buoyant at Twilight's because that's what you guys specifically asked for. When ordered to land or hover, then yes, Dusty will moor the ship or keep the engine raised in response because I don't want to write such trivial details out any more than you guys want to instruct them. In this instance, though, your exact instruction was to eventually cut the power so your airship would be quiet. No power to the Ednosptrad's systems means no downward push from its engine, which means the buoyancy you wanted takes over and Feather Dust floats into the canopy.

Get it now?
>>
>>27309117
What was the point of the ballast we added before we left Twilight's if it didn't neutralize the excess buoyancy to the point that we wouldn't just float away?
>>
>>27309308
forgot to urn the engines off?
>>
>>27310108
What?
>>
>>27309308
The point of the ballast we added was to get it heavy enough that our engine could counteract the lift of the enhanced cloud reasonably easily, but give us the option of dumping ballast to cary heavy things if need be. The crystals were not quite enough to fully counteract the added lift and get us back to neutrally buoyant, but that's fine because it's a lot easier to add then remove weight and we want to carry poison joke anyway.

>"Up here!"
"...What... were you doing up there?" Gulliver asks as Feather Dust's airship descends back down towards the forest floor.
>"We have just a teensy-weensy bit too little ballast."
"...Do you need more?"
>"No, no! That was a design choice, in case I need to ascend in a hurry. Or go to Cloudsdale."
"Why would you want to go to Cloudsdale?"
>"To show the Wonderbolts my sick airship, of course!"
"Oh. Right..."
It's about this time that Gulliver realizes that Zecora has continued on. His eyes dilate with fear. "H-hey, wait for us!" he calls as loudly as he dares to, quickly cantering after her while the Ednosptrad brings up the rear.
Soon, Zecora comes to a halt at another fork. One path leads up a ridge, while another descends towards a stream.
"Now we must choose which path we will peruse." the zebra tells Gulliver and Feather Dust. "The high road leads to a mountain peak, atop which grows the fruit I seek. The other way leads down a creek; at the end is a grove of the poison joke you seek."
At the mention of the word 'fruit,' Coco begins to chirp, eagerly pointing her antennae up the path on the ridge.
"Which path is less dangerous?" Gulliver quickly asks.
"Both paths are home to fearsome creatures as well as dangerous geological features." Zecora responds. "To think one safer would be folly, because neither are at all very jolly."
"Then I vote for the low road. I don't want to fall down a mountain, even with a suit of armor!" Gulliver reasons.
Zecora nods, then turns to Feather Dust. "Then let us hear Feather Dust's voice. Please, tell us which is your choice."
Feather glances between Gulliver and Coco.
>"I'm the tiebreaker, huh? Okay, I choose..."

"It'd be even safer to not climb at all..."
>"Would you rather wait down here?"
"...No." Gulliver sighs, a dour look on his face.
"Then it seems to be agreed." Zecora says, following the gravel path to the left. "Let us find the fruit I need."
The path up the ridge isn't too steep, but Gulliver is soon trailing behind Zecora and the Ednosptrad. The zebra can't go two steps without looking this way or that, ever-vigilant in case any more forest creatures rear their heads.
Soon, the band comes to a rickety old bridge. Zecora's ears twitch as she inspects the rope supports. "Move quickly and don't stop - it is quite a long drop."
>"Tch... I'm not really worried."
Zecora nods, then she quickly crosses the rope bridge. By using the ropes AS the bridge - like a tightrope walker, the zebra moves swiftly and steadily to the other side. The bridge creaks and sways slightly.
As Feather Dust nudges the Ednosptrad forward, something makes the hairs on her neck stand up.

>"Because it's... kind of a rope bridge over a ravine. So don't look down, okay?"
Gulliver's eyes dilate ever so slightly. "Oh... Great."
The unicorn finally finishes his climb and surveys the chasm.
"Oh, Zecora got across it." he says, relieved. "If she could do it, then I should be able to, right?"
>"That's the spirit! Come on, let's go. I'll be right beside you, okay?"
Gulliver smiles gratefully. "Thanks, Dusty."
>"You got it, second mate!"
Gulliver hesitantly steps onto the bridge with one hoof. Then the other. Then a third. Finally, he puts his full weight onto it. "So far so good..."

It'll hurt when he slams into the cliff, but he won't land on a sleeping ursa.

Gulliver cries out as the plank under his hind legs snaps in half under his weight, sending his back half plummeting through the bridge.
"AAAAAAAAAAAH!!! DUSTY, ZECORA, HEEEELP!!"
>"Hold on, Gully!! We'll save you!"
The Ednosptrad quickly dives to survey the situation to the bridge. Gulliver's legs kick feebly underneath the broken planks, but his box armor has caught on the adjacent boards, suspending him in place.

The ropes are stable, hold onto those, don't struggle!
>>
>>27332018
Okay, we are not strong enough to fix this, Zecora will have to do that. What we CAN do is calm him the hell down so he doesn't wake the bear.

Fly up in front of him, look him straight in the eye through the windsheild and calmly talk to him. Tell him that he needs to stop struggling and screaming, and that if he just waits a minute Zecora will save him.

Feather Dust breathes a sigh of relief.
>'At least he's safe...'
She glances down the ravine through her bay door.
>'But he won't be if he wakes up that Ursa.'
>"Gulliver, calm down!"
"Calm down?! I'm slipping off a bridge!! How can I calm down?!?"
Feather Dust brings the Ednosptrad up to Gulliver's face. He jerks back from the speed of the tiny flyer.
>"Gulliver. Look. At Me."
He does so.
>"Your box is too big to fall through the hole. Just hold on to the ropes and don't struggle. Struggling means the bridge shakes more. Just keep it together until Zecora comes and pulls you up, got it?"
As Feather Dust talks to him, Gulliver's kicking and squirming gradually slow down. He's still pouting, but he forces a nod and a few breaths. "O-okay..." he says, trying not to look down. "I'm calm. I'm c-calm..."
As luck would have it, Zecora heard Gulliver screaming like a baby and quickly repeats her spidery movement across the bridge, extending a hoof to the unicorn.
"Be bold; take hold!" she instructs. Gulliver eagerly complies. As soon as the two equines are holding hooves (not like that, you sicko), Zecora pulls him up with a strange level of fluid movement, as if the young stallion is as light as a feather. The bridge creaks under Zecora's and Gulliver's combined weight, but Zecora moves with a swift grace that doesn't perturb the bridge as much as Feather Dust would expect a fat-rumped zebra to.
Soon, the three ponies have crossed the swaying bridge with no further difficulties. Gulliver takes a moment to compose himself, his legs still wobbling like jelly from the scare he got. Meanwhile, Zecora is checking her inventory; as she sifts through her bags, her brow furrows and she mumbles to herself in a language Feather Dust can't understand.
>"Looks like we're taking a break, Coco... Take five, okay?"
Coco chirps and nods her head, crawling out of the upper hatch of the gondola for some much-needed fresh (and cool) mountain air.

>'Poor Gully... This is a lot of excitement for him.'
She glances at him, then back at the bridge that he nearly just plummeted from.
>And for me, I guess...'
Feather Dust carefully turns her airship around and creeps it towards Gulliver, stopping right above his muzzle.
>"Gully...?"
He glances up at her, his face slick with sweat. "Yeah?"
Feather Dust peeks out of the bay door with her arms raised (lowered) and a sympathetic little smile on her face.
>"Hugs?"
Gulliver smiles back, nodding and holding as still as he can. "Yeah, hugs would be nice."
Feather Dust drops from the bay door with her arms and legs spread, landing as softly as a feather on his snootle and rubbing her cheek against him. He exhales softly in response.
>"I'm sorry about all this."
"It's okay." he whispers.
>" No it's not. You've been breaking your back for me and you almost just fell off a mountain."
"Yeah... Well... I needed the exercise...?"
Feather Dust forces a giggle, then she hugs him more tightly.
>"Poor Gully, I promise I'll make this all worth your while soon."
"Uh, okay." Gulliver answers, not understanding what she means.
>'He will soon.'

>>27332514
>>27332672
Zecora's grumbling catches Feather Dust's tiny, super-sensitive ears.
>"Excuse me."
The tiny mare reboards her ship and zips over to Zecora.
>"Hey, Zecora, what's up? Did you forget something?"
"I'm sad to say that the answer is yes, which might make this search quite fruitless." the zebra answers thoughtfully. "Without a way of cooling or wetting, the fiery plant's fruit, we will not be getting."
>>
>>27333148
gulliver can levitate it?
>>
>>27333148

>cooling or wetting

is the fruit literally on fire?

Gully seems to be working up a sweat. Worst case is that we try to collect some in that saucepan helmet of his.

Or we could have someone hold the airship still and use the main engine as a fan, if that works.
>>
>>27333148
Gulliver might have brought water.
ask Gulliver if he brought water.
ask Zecora if Gulliver's water is enough if he did.
>>
>>27333148
>"Poor Gully, I promise I'll make this all worth your while soon."
>"Uh, okay." Gulliver answers, not understanding what she means.
>'He will soon.'

We're gonna snuggle him so hard and play two player on the Coltecovision all night long.
>>
>>27333148
>Without a way of cooling or wetting, the fiery plant's fruit
Zecora, we have SCIENCE. Fire doesn't burn without oxygen and fuel, so we just need to remove one of those two things. We take Gulliver's helmet, cover the fruit, and it goes out without any air to burn in.

Fuel + O2 → CO2 + H2O

And if that doesn't work, I'm sure we'll be able to science something else up when we see it.
>>
>>27333148
>>27333172
>>27333181
if we take gulliver's water and sweat then put it into his saucepan helmet, we may have a way to get the fruit.
>>
>>27333164
>>27333280
Either of these are valid.
>>
>>27333280
If the fruit is to big for the saucepan, we could dig a small hole and use the pan as a lid.

>"'Cooling or wetting?' Uh... Is the fruit LITERALLY on fire?"
Zecora nods. "Mm-hm."
>"...Huh... Neat."
Feather Dust thinks.
>"Hold on a sec. HEY, GULLY!"
"What?" he answers, slowly trotting over.
>"Did you bring any water?"
"I brought a broom, a pot, a jar, a box, and whatever other stuff is in my inventory."
>"Is there any water in your inventory?"
"Er... No...?"
>"Crap. Okay, Plan B: Fire doesn't burn without oxygen and fuel, so we just need to remove one of those two things: We take Gulliver's helmet, cover the fruit, and it goes out without any air to burn in."
"Hey, yeah, that sounds like it'll work!" Gulliver adds, his tone surprisingly optimistic for a change.
"I suppose that it is worth a try." Zecora responds. "Come: The firecracker plant is nearby."
Gulliver and the Ednosptrad follow Zecora up the path that leads to the ruins of what looks like a castle.
"Oooooh... This is where Celestia and Luna used to live, isn't it?" he asks, stopping to look over the ancient architecture.
>"I think so. Not sure why they decided to live at the edge of a ravine in a dangerous forest full of monsters, though. Seems kinda like a bad location."
"Maybe they chose it so ponies of the future could have adventures and explore it for treasure...!"
>"That sounds..."
Feather Dust pauses and mulls this over.
>"Actually, that sounds pretty cool, yeah, but if it's true, that'd be pretty irresponsible of the Princesses."
"What do you think is in there?" Gulliver asks, tilting his head curiously as he looks over the crumbling structure.
