When I really think of it now, I think he ended up exactly like Fluttershy but wasn't fortunate enough to have a special destiny and a support system of friends, so he just became severely withdrawn and just gave up. In other words, he's Fluttershy's Moondancer.

Moondancer and Twilight were identical, but Twilight got singled out by destiny and the unlucky ones who didn't got left behind in one way or another. This happened to Moondancer, Big Mac and possibly now Fluttershy's brother as well.

"Destiny" has really never sat well with me for storytelling. Take Harry Potter, the main character of which is a mediocre, passive piece of shit compared to his other two friends and most other characters in general. Let's look at it from another perspective.
A group of workers put together a set of goods worth $5 billion, of which $4 billion was not necessary for the production, and only got $1 billion in return.
What justification is there for giving a dozen executives, who did almost nothing to produce it, so much of the capital, while the millions of workers, who actually made the goods, have to survive off of pennies? What could possibly be lost by distributing the profits of production throughout the workforce that made the profit in the first place? What could those few on top possibly be doing to justify that kind of disparity?

You know the old joke you see in cartoons that goes like:

Actually, no. Profit margins are incredibly small. These huge businesses are lucky to make more than 3 cents off the dollar. Let's take a liberal estimate, and say that Apple made 5 cents profit for every dollar spent, which is ludicrous, because even oil companies barely touch that profit margin. They make 3 billion dollars profit: that's 63 billion dollars in sales that they had to make in order to get that profit. The other 60 billion dollars was spent on workers' wages, tech development and research, advertisement, overhead costs, etc. The reason these executives make so much money is because their operations are so massive and they employ so many people. We do face a crisis of scarcity, but that is completely the fault of the capitalist drive to endless exploitation.
Water, food, shelter. That's what people need.
Water: While we are using it at a ridiculous rate, we won't be running out of it anytime soon. Problems with contaminated water are undeniably a problem of distribution and lack of infrastructure.
Food: One third of the world's food is wasted. That is more than enough to feed everyone starving. Just the amount of food wasted in the US alone is equal to the entire food production of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Shelter: Again, completely a problem of distribution.
The amount of money spent on a skyscraper in a city could easily cover the cost of actual homes for the people in its slums.

That's nothing compared to the rest of the value wasted under capitalism. But even if it stopped there, with assured food, assured water, and assured shelter, without meaningless stress or endless anxiety because of the violence inherent to capitalist exploitation, you'd have to be psychopathic and blind to call that miserable.

It's literally their money. They invest capital, and when their investments are successful, they get a proportionate amount of that capital back. If the investment doesn't do well, they lose money. Why do they owe you shit?
