You are Mango, a Batpony from a small town near Las Pegasus turned vampire by Fierce Fang. After refusing an offer to join him, Mango later fled Las Pegasus to avoid a bounty.
After arriving at Ponyville, Mango revealed her secret to Zecora, who would tell Twilight. The princess then blackmailed Mango into investigating a group of Vampires in Canterlot.
The group of Vampires called themselves the "Council." They were mostly concerned about keeping up a facade that benefits their current lifestyle and dealing with the recent threat that Fang posed to their interests.
The meetings end with one of the members badly hurt, supposedly by Fang's goons. Fearing that the member was told about Mango's deal with Twilight, Mango confessed to June Bug, one of the members Mango had developed a friendship with.
Back in Ponyville, Twilight was disgruntled about Mango blowing her cover, but was glad to get some new info.
Mango went back to the Castle, trying to learn how to use clouds. She later went into the forest for a shower to only to run into a wolf couple that was being attacked by timberwolves.
After helping Fluttershy take one of the wolves to the vet for better care the male wolf decides he would stay to keep an eye on his mate and Mango offered it a place to stay.
Mango then ran into a fellow guild member, Crimson Sash. She accompanied Mango after some discussion and a lot of lying to her mother.

Last thread, the pair fell into a trapped dungeon beneath the Castle. Due to some painful trial and error, you've found that the traps seem to target Vampires specifically.

>You grab Crim and yank her back, fearing a trap.
>You want to run, but with your bum leg, it might be better to fly.
>Still, you back up from the shelf as much as you can.
>The bookshelves slide apart, revealing a hidden room
>Just inside, two suits of armor stand, lighted by the burning spirit within.
>"WHAT FOUL BEAST DISTURBS THIS SANCTUM!"

>You shush Crimson, and creep out, with you fluttering on your silent leathery wings.

"Just watch your damn step, ok?"
>"Yeah, got it."
>You shake your head and continue.

>Inside the room two things immediately catch your eye.
>The giant pile of random boxes, crates, chairs and beds along one wall, and the Grand Piano sitting in one corner. The large instrument has drag marks under its feet.
>You assume somepony had tried to add it to the refuse pile.

>A silver platter might catch a fair price though...

>But it's still not down, so you rear back and give it a hard punch
CRIT!
>It falls apart at the force, though it's chest piece gets stuck on the spike, causing the trap to be unable to fully retract into the ground.

>Inside you find a small but opulently furnished little room.
>A bed with aged but still fine silken sheets, a dark wooden chest of drawers and a work table with various broken pieces of glassware point to a very different style of living than the other rooms here.
>Worryingly, you see that the bed is occupied.
>A lumpy shape upon it has a sword with the same symbol of the knights as a crossguard thrust into it.

>Two green gems, Two blue, and one red gem.
>You see Crim's eye's alight at the sight, and even you can help but covet the large stones.

They're using knowledge from 1000 years ago. I think Twi already has a book on this stuff.
>>
>>27174662
Magic armor fueled by the souls of the damned.
Yeah this place should be forgotten.
>>
>>27174689
Tell Crim to disarm the thing first if she's going to do something.
>>
>>27174691
Yeah, well knowledge from a 1000 years ago typically goes out of print and for the case of anything in this place It's for the best.
>>
>>27174754
The contents of the Canterlot archives and the library in this castle says that knowledge tends to be preserved in Equestria. Also with how Celestia feels about vampires, I doubt she'd allow that knowledge to vanish. If anything, the stuff here is outdated.
>>
>>27174689
She has a large sack full of ancient silver coins. She's just being greedy and stupid now.
>>
>>27174785
Yeah but back when we're back in Canterlot the older vampires freaked out about mortals figuring out our weaknesses when that doctor saw Diane with a stake in her.

So if all of this was just simply available, info I don't think they would have been worrying as much about it.
If it's not completely lost to time, I don't think it's publicly available.

Also given how the vampire attacks apparently have only gotten noticeable recently I don't think they have updated anything. I think not needing too was kinda the point of Celestia's whole genocide thing. Why would you prepare for things you thought you wiped out.
>>
>>27174857
I didn't say it was public knowledge. That kind of stuff would be a government secret. Also being prepared just incase there were some survivors is a logical action.

>>27177783
FUCK I KNEW IT

Let's get our butt in there, Mango has been turning more morally good over time and I refuse to go backwards on that.
>>
>>27177783
Told you caving into her greed would get us killed. Time to face our fate and fight this boss while injured and weak. If all of you are interested in continuing to make stupid decisions that would most likely fail, we could try to block the door to see if it buys her enough time. One of our gambles are bound to succeed eventually.
>>
>>27177783
We still got super strangth lets just try and hold it open and give crim some more time.
Well get tired faster but I think it'll be worth it.

>You entertain notions of holding up the stone, or otherwise blocking the door, but you know you'd be squashed flat trying to do anything like that.
>The stone is simply moving too fast.
>Instead, you tuck and roll into the entryway, where Crim then collides with you.
>The stone falls behind you with a slam, and Crim, scrambles up and paws at the giant block with her hooves.

If this was all it took to keep everything down her the guy from the journal probably would have just set off this trap in the first place.

So it comes to reason that they're is probably a reset some place. We just need to retrace out steps.

"Hey, calm down, we can make it out."
>"I'm sorry Mango... I just.. I felt like the only way I could convince my Mom that I'm actually doing something important is to show her what I can earn."
>She's not sobbing, but you see tears on her face.
>"I th-think these gems are enchanted or something. I felt so strongly that taking one would be exactly what I needed to do."
>"Once I picked it up, I knew I screwed up, I just..."
"It's ok, look, that Journal guy didn't lock those knights in here, so there must be some way out. You know?"
>"I.. I guess."
"So, what did you do, exactly? You just picked up the gem?"
>"Y-yeah. I finally got my spell working and was able to lift it off the pillar. I heard grinding, and I knew I should run. Then you came in, and now we're trapped, because of me..."
>You head back into the main chamber.
>The Emerald gem lies on the floor next to its pillar, but everything else seems to be the same.
>input action
>>
>>27182786
so let see if putting the emerald back on the pillar would make the door open
>>
>>27182786
Well, it seems simple we should just put it back on it's pillar and complete the circuit again.

Maybe it works like a magic electrical grid.
>>
>>27182815
>>27182830
>It's obvious, you put the emerald back and it will open the door, right?
>You scoop up the gem, fly up and set it back on it's pillar, but instead of floating like the others, it just falls on to the top of the pillar.
>Nothing happens.
>input action
>>
>>27182919
Hmm, this make sense it might need something to start up the magic again. like a jump start in a car.

A,t first the gems already had a current but now it's lacking one. Maybe we need Crim to charge it with magic so the current can start running again.
>>
>>27182968
Oh I forgot.
This is just a side thought but maybe because they're enchanted maybe they need a new enchantment to tell the gems what to do.

If these things bind spells to objects then maybe the spells are stored into the whole bunker. So I guess we just need to add a new spell to give it an order. Like opening the door.
>>
>>27183053
>>27182968
"Hey, Crim, I can't get the Emerald back in. You think it might need a, like, starter charge or something?"
>She heads over, still looking pretty glum.
>"I dunno. That's not how enchantments usually work, but this place isn't exactly ordinary."
"Well, maybe they forgot the enchantment on them and need to be re-enchanted?"
>"No, Mango, that not..."
"Maybe you could enchant it with an 'Open the door' enchantment!"
>"Mango... Look, from what I can tell, these gems are like connected to the statue somehow. I thought it would wake up like those armors did when I pulled the first one, but I'm glad it's still asleep."
>You give the statue another once over. You notice that it's a unicorn, and right under it's horn is a space that would exactly fit the shape of the Ruby.
>Looking back at the red gem, you suddenly know exactly what would help.
>If you just had the Ruby, this would all be fixed.

>>
>>27183383

>>
>>27183383
No that would just make things worse
We're not taking that gem.
Good fucking morning /mlp/
>>
>>27183383
Hmmm. Actually, I think the ruby might be what's powering the magic that's weakening us. Maybe we should brake it to dispell the magic.

The spells can't work if they don't have an object to bind to right.
>>
>>27183383
We should check the Journal we have, It might have some information about the room. Besides, we got nothing but time on our hands at the moment.
>>

>>27183475
>You shake the feeling off.
>This is exactly how Crim got trapped in here, dammit.
>>27183480
>>27183503
>You pull the journal back out, to see if you can figure it out.
>On the page after the enchantments are mentioned first, you notice some gibberish writing that you assumed was some old timey poetry the first time.
>The number 5 is common, and as you scratch your head trying to decipher it, Crim sees it and snatches it out of your hooves.
>"Here we go, that is a spell formula! Looks like it's describing what we have here..."
>"Aw, man..."

>Crim explains, as best she can, that the gems here are some kind of battery or something for both the statue and the dungeon as a whole.
>If "somepony gives into temptation" and removes a gem, then the only way to repair the facility is to remove all the gems and place them into the Statue.
>Supposedly, if all was well, the Statue can repair the place.
>>
>>27183652
Oh good.
>>
>>27183652
Either that
Or removing each gem will trap us in some other way eventually killing us
But it's our best shot pray to whatever God there is not to make statue malicious
>>
>>27183652
And if all isn't well? We are intruders and we did destroy a lot of the defenses.
>>
>>27183652

"I don't like this at all."
>"It's what the book says to do."
"Yeah, it's pretty much the only option..."
>You sigh and collect each gem, though you avoid the Ruby for now.
>Each time a gem comes down, you hear a slam, as more stone blocks fall into the entryway.
>Finally, you grab the ruby that calls to you, and suddenly you feel your head clear somewhat. Like you can breath a bit easier.
>After that, you slot in each gem into it's proper place on the statue. The Green gems go on it's back legs, the Blue gems up front, and the final red Ruby goes right under its horn.

>Bright golden flames ignite within the statue, so that it looks like a huge bulky version of the armors you fought previously.
>The flames coalesce into a figure with in armor, and it opens it's eyes of fire, looking around at the decay. You assume this must be it's first time seeing the place in ruins
>It instantly snaps to you, and narrows it's vision.
>"NIGHTWALKER!"
>"How dare you summon me? I should rend you apart, but the temple... I would weep for the damage time has wrought, but I have wept enough. Tell me, why did you summon me? You will gain no power here, beast."

>The Golem snorts and sputters in pure anger.
>"Undead! Bah! The Nightwalker calls ME undead! I suppose you don't see the irony in that statement."
>"We call your companion here Nightwalker because that is what she is. An undead devil, bent on the domination of all ponies. The lay ponies now them as Vampires"
>You don't have time to see Crim's reaction, as the golem's horn glows golden, and surrounds you, pulling you up to his face. You struggle in his grasp, but you're unable to break his grip.
"Now, little nightwalker, you will tell me why you're here NOW, and I'll consider killing you painlessly, scum."

I don't think that's how it works. These guys don't appear to be regular constructs the book we got kinda suggested they were up to some crazy shit.

I think these things have souls inside otherwise they probably wouldn't be smart enough to talk...so they're undead.
>>
>>27184508
She's still shocked and confused from what it said. If we try to talk to her she's mare likely to ask us questions than to help us. If she starts asking questions the golem is most likely going to cut us off and answer them with 1000 year old propaganda. It's better if we keep this conversation between us and the golem. We could also argue our case to her while we're doing it, just by talking loud enough for her to hear.
>>

>"And a child as a Thrall? Does your depravity know no bounds, beast?"
>"Hey! I'm not a filly! I'm just short, alright! And I'm not a Thrall or whatever you just said, I'm just a friend of Mango here."
>"Vampires don't make 'friends' child, they just use ponies. But, Mango is it? You said you know the way out?"
"Yes, now if you'll just open these doors and let me the hell out of here..."
>He drops you, and you glide down, he seems disappointed that you had wings.
>"As if I'd let you out upon the world! Nightwalker and batpony. Traitorous to the bone."
"As if I'd let you! Your own men were afraid of what you've become. Like it or not, if you're alive after all these years, you're either a Princess or undead. Let me guess, you bound your soul to this statue, and the others to their armor? Seems like undead to me."
>"Impertinent beast! Tell me how I might leave this crumbling temple or face my wrath!"
>>
>>27186556
And what will he do when he gets out. He's a walking, talking, statue.

He'll cause a panic.

We should pretend to show him the way out and then break the only way out again and leave him down here.
>>
>>27186556
It's been a thousand years, things change. Nightmare Moon came back and has been reformed, ruling by her sister's side again. There are two new princesses, the closest one being Celestia's student. The "nightwalkers" are trying to be contributing members to society, except for one which want's to rule the world and kill all the others. We're working with the princesses to thry and prevent a war. If he tries to leave, most likely, Celestia's herself would destroy him. Also we only became a vampire a couple weeks ago and have no idea how to make a thrall.
>>

>"So there are more of you, good. My first order of business will be to track them down."
>His horn glows, and he lifts the five blocks that block access to the main hall.
>You get no chance to make a run for it, though, as he picks you and Crim back up, before squeezing through the entryway and into the hallway.
>He carries you over to the lift where you and Crim fell in.
>"Now, show me how to leave this place, and I will keep you alive long enough to find and destroy your kin, and reclaim Equestria from you beasts."
>Crim furrows her brow. "Reclaim?"
>"Of course! If this weak nightwalker was able to get here, surely the world is overrun with these vermin. That was our order's greatest fear, and I am sad to know it has come to pass."
"What? No, Equestria is ruled by four Princesses, well mostly Celestia and Luna really, but there are two others with minor authority."
>"Nightmare Moon is back on the Throne!"
>You face hoof and try to explain modern society to the giant Statue, but he just seems more and more irate.
>"You wait here, I might need back up for this."
>He sticks you to the ceiling with some spell, sets Crim next to the elevator and heads off into the Library room.
>You try to get Crim to let you down, but she seems somewhat shaken.
"Hey, Crim, let me down, and we can get out of here."
>"Why didn't you tell me you were a Vampire?"

Crim, we really need to get out of here right now.

We wanted to tell you Crim but you need to understand that its something we keep secret for a reason.

Ponies try to kill us, the moment they see our fangs and only view us as monsters.

"I kinda do."
>"You're a vampire! That's magical, not medical!"
"Look, you can be upset with me all you want, but let me down so we can get out of here!"

>"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to- I wasn't saying you were boring, I was just a bit disappointed that the story wasn't quite as, uh, epic, as I assumed it would be."
"Well, I could have lied to make it more interesting for you."
>Crim scrunches, and you giggle.
"But seriously, that's been the one thing that has been a constant of being a vampire. Lies. I have to lie to stay safe, then when I try to come clean everypony just hates me because I lied... and then I'm stuck sad and alone."
>"H-hey, you're not alone now, right? I'm here. Uh, unless you were gonna drink my blood or something. You weren't gonna do that right?"

This is going to be interesting. Tell Crim to take us directly to Twi if anything goes wrong.
>>
>>27193396
We're not able to do that safely yet so no, It takes practice to do. Otherwise, we wouldn't say no if you were offering.

But we wouldn't drink from you without consent.

But if you don't mind getting hooked up to an IV letting us borrow a few pint that be nice or maybe we could do a straw type thing with the tube.
>>
>>27193492
We still have the empty bags from the hospital.
>>
>>27193506
I'd still like to try just putting the IV tube directly into our mouth and seeing if it counted as fresh blood.
Plus if Crim started to feel weird she could just undo the IV.

But if she lets us we should totally make some extra bags.
I wonder what jew-acorn blood tastes like.
>>
>>27193547

You mean we went feral?

I think that's a bit different because we actually fangs had our in someone. But for the most part, mango has been doing pretty well at controlling herself so far.
She didn't lose control last time she just drank for too long.

>>27193603

>>
>>27193637

>>
>>27193637

>>
>>27193811
That is not the case at all, go back and look we didn't lose control the last time we fed.
It was just a slip-up.
>>
>>27193856
Your right that it isn't a 100% chance, but there is still a possibility that it could happen again and Crim is to precious to us to allow that possibility. If she consents to allowing us to feed on her, we should wait until somebody that is able to protect her if the worst case scenario should happen is nearby. We should visit Twilight tonight. Also the success could've been lucky rather than the failure being a slip-up.
>>
>>27193884
For the record, I'm not voting to feed on Crim I just wanted to hook her up to an IV.
Because it's controlled and because it would take out a lot of risk. But I'd just be happy if she lets us make a bag or two.
>>
>>27193884
This guy is right
In this case losing her would be bad for our reputation and in general as well
A dead spellcaster is a useless spellcaster
>>

I think the straw thing is actually a good idea but probably best to wait until we get mugged by someone or go bandit hunting again.

I still say we need to get crim some kind regular pony snack to recover. I know cookies and juice are the standard for humans after giving blood to help reduce passing out.
>>
>>27201382
Basically
But I'm worried about crim
She's a small mare and her body likely holds less blood than normal mare's
This could mean we took a little bit too much.
>>
>>27201686

I figure, as long as she isn't continuing to bleed out, and we get her some calories to help recover, she ought to be fine.

I've personally almost fallen over and passed out after riding my bike after giving blood, so even 'medically safe' amounts can mess you up if you aren't careful. Crim was probably riding high on adrenaline and the crash of that mixed with giving blood could have caused a simple bit of passing out

>>
>>27204471
Pausing here. See you guys next week!
>You open up the journal and search for some more info on anything.
>You find a few tid bits

>The "Library" had among its stores some healing potions. Not sure if you would have been able to figure out which of the dozen bottles had that in then rather than some form of terrible poison, but they were there.
>It makes you wonder if magical healing would even work on you, and if that might be the way to heal your leg wound.

>Another interesting tidbit you learn is something about the "Ichor." Apparently the knights used it as bait for Vampires. It's described as "Luring them like moths to a flame." The anecdote mentions that sometimes the Vampire would escape with the stuff, which seemed to concern the author of the Journal. He considered using it too risky, since there was a possibility of the Vampire using it against them.
>>
>>27204730
We should head to the hospital and see if they can analyze a sample of it when we get a chance. Lets continue reading, we might finally be able to get some clues about why vampires are hated so much.
>>
>>27204892
>clues about why vampires are hated so much.
Needing to feed on ponies to live.

Allied with nightmare moon during the Civil War.

Insanity powerful undead immortals and with a few having a superiority complex like Fang.

This list doesn't really take somethings into context but take your pick.
>>
>>27205073
That works for general hatred, but Celestia despising us to the degree she does for over a thousand years is a bit much if those are the only reasons.
>>
>>27205073

I think the "Horrible cursed undead immortal monster which feeds upon the blood of ponies" is honestly kind of a deserved bad reputation, particularly what with vampires drinking blood to death.

The joy of balancing our remaining 'humanity' with the needs and inherent desires of our new situation is always some of the most intriguing parts of vampires from a story telling perspective.

>>27205127

Living forever slowly makes you go crazy. Also, vampires are kind of anathema to her domain as the regent of the sun.
>>
>>27205160
>vampires drinking blood to death.
True but as we learned they don't really need to do that. And most of the older ones who know how to not kill when they feed don't.
And a whole group was formed by Luna with them to promote peace and a treaty was even formed. Things aren't really black and white.

>You decide to burn some more time and read through the journal once more.
>You try to find some reasons why Celestia would hate vampires so much...besides the usual reasons.

>From what you can find, it seems the hate for vampires is really generalized. You don't get any specific names. They were just focused on wiping out your race for being monsters and none of the cases mentioned didn't seem to be anything that only a vampire could do, besides draining a victim of blood. But there was a expressed fear of what could happen if the vampires actually started to work together instead of as solo agents.
>The it seems due to not liking to share often, the vampires didn't really act as a group until the council started.
(Cont...)
>>
>>27209951
>Next you look at the more recent entries to find some information about the living armor and the golem statue.
>And what you find makes you gasp.

> It would seem Celestia had known about what was going on in the dungeon. It was done off the record as a response to the Council made by Luna.
>If the peace had lasted Celestia wanted to have an ace in the hole in case they betrayed the ponies later on. The goal was to have a long-lasting army that could match the vampires in strength.
>It was a voluntary opportunity and those who signed up to have their souls bonded to armor did so out of patriotism. Only the most trustworthy and highest ranked of the Solar guard knew about it.
>After awhile, though the constructs started displaying extremely aggressive zealotism. They were lashing out at the other hunters and there were also a few cases of violence.
>Out of fear of whether or not they could be controlled Celestia had the project shut down. Apparently not everyone agreed.
>A group of guards went rogue and restarted the project when the castle was abandoned.
>When the Journals owner started having doubts they pressured him into silence. You already know what happened after that.

>This news is disturbing, to say the least. Just what else could have been hidden from everyone.
>As you take a moment to take in what you just read. As Crimson comes into the room levitating two bags.

>”Hey, I didn't think you'd be awake. I sorry I didn't get you any snacks too I wasn't really sure if you actually still ate food.”

Is it late enough to go into town? We should check on wolfbro's mate.

I want to put finding a trainer on the list of things to do.
If Diane is feeling better we could probably ask her when we go back to Cantrlot.
>>
>>27235997
Keep practicing but maybe bring up the point with her that you two should actually learn some martial arts from someone who knows what they are doing.
>>
>>27236066
We could teach her some the basics of the guard stuff we learned from the books.
>>

That'd be a good start. But later they'll have to find something more advanced to learn.

"I could teach you some basic stuff, though I've been thinking of taking lessons..."
>"I... I think I'm good. I'm gonna stick with magic, I think."
>You help her back up, as she rubs her forehead where it hit the tree.
>"Although... I know a stallion at the Guild teaches various martial arts for money. He's a unicorn, so I thought his classes were for spells. Made a bit of a fool of myself..."
"Well, I need to go check in on the Wolf's mate anyway. Maybe get some other stuff from town... we'll see."

>You head into Ponyville, straight for the vet. When you get to his place, you notice that he's already closed.

Hey, maybe we can just mist in through the door.

Then we can just go and check the place she was staying at and leave.

This place shouldn't too guarded it's an animal Clinic, but if there is an alarm it would be in the kennel to let animal control know if there is a problem.
But it's probably not a thing, still it wouldn't hurt to add some extra caution to make sure we don't accidentally let the animals out.

Well, they could just be dicks and don't want to take care of a wolf. She might not be getting the same care as the other animals. But who knows.

Well then they shouldn't of admitted her to the vet's office in the first place, if that's what they were gonna do.

>>

They could've sent it to Fluttershy since they wouldn't know where we live.

NO DEAL!!!
>>
>>27252994
>>27253202
This. We can certainly get better.
>>
>>27251348
This is why I wanted to go to Twi first. She'd be able to get everything properly appraised and we'd be able to get more. She could even find out who might buy it for a better price.
>>
>>27253260
I think you might be expecting a bit much. Just because she's smart doesn't mean she can appraise random stuff you find.
>>
>>27253692
She has access to her entire personal library and can gain access to the entire Canterlot archive. A princess also should be able to track down knowledgeable individuals to help her if she can't find relevant information in books. It could be the difference between 50 and 5000 bits.
>>
>>27253692
She comes across as the kind of pony who'd be pissed if we sold it first, even if it's something mudane
>>
>>27253723
>50 and 5000 bits
I don't think you're taking everything into account.

Just because we owned something valuable doesn't mean we're going to get an exact amount. The value would go down no matter what based on the predicted cost of maintaining the item so it doesn't get even more worn out and then the process of trying to find a collector to by the object. Most of the time these things end up just getting scraped down for materials because it's really hard to find someone who's interested in the object.

Also don't you think a government official has better things to do with their time than looking for buyer for generic loot for a sellsword.

>>27253816
I don't care what she thinks it's not even her business.
>>
>>27253865
That was an exaggeration. Regardless of somebody else's expenses, we stand to make a lot more from seeking out specialized and knowledgeable buyers. Pawn shops are middle men, and even if they know how valuable the item is, their purpose is to buy things at the lowest price possible and sell it for as much as possible to somebody else. That's a lot of potential bits lost over being lazy and whining about how heavy our bag is. Also about pestering Twi, we annoyed her on the toilet so she'd give us back the shotgun. I don't think we'd lose much sleep over it.
>>
>>27253925
>That was an exaggeration.
No, it's not, those are fairly reasonable things to take into account.
But to be honest I think a lot of this whole conversation might be overthinking and it just kinda depends on how the QM wants to do things.

>Pawn shops are middle men
You're just going from one middleman to another.

>seeking out specialized and knowledgeable
Owning a few books on a subject doesn't make you specialized in something.

>I don't think we'd lose much sleep over it.
....Yeah, I actually agree with this. I just think she has better things to do and would say no.
Hell, I just want to see her to call her fat, I don't care about annoying her too.
>>
>>27254088
In either case, a pawn shop is going to offer us quite literally bottom dollar for our stuff. We could have something of legitimate value on our hooves, if we actually took a little bit of time to find someone who could tell us what it was.

In any case, throwing our stuff at the first person to offer us any money for it isn't the best option. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by looking more closely at the stuff we have, the pawn shop will still be there if we find nothing.
>>
>>27254088
>50 and 5000 bits
This was the exaggeration.

>Pawn shops are middle men
Pawn shops sell anything to anybody, but if somebody is looking for something specific, like a private collector, they'd be willing to spend more money and they probably would never go near a pawn shop, which means we can sell to "the middle man" for more.

>seeking out specialized and knowledgeable
Jewelry to the jeweler, antiques to the antique store, artifacts to a museum or school, magic items to sorcerers, or everything to a pawn shop which will say since they're the ones doing all of the work so they should get all of the credit.
>>
>>27254168
I'm all for finding someone specialized but I don't think we're going to find anyone like that in Ponyville...except for magic items and Jewelry.
I was actually thinking we could see rarity about the sunstone gem we got. That has to be the most valuable thing we have on us.
So if we see anyone first we should visit Rarity then head to the guild for the rest.
>>
>>27254228
You don't think we will find somebody so it isn't even worth trying? The few pounds of extra clutter in our bags for a little while longer isn't worth the potential hundreds of bits?
>>
boop for you too
>>
>You scrunch and look at the lamp.
>You probably could get much better prices for this stuff, but you would have to track down willing buyers.
>You're not sure how much effort that would be...
>You notice a smudge on the brass facings of the lamp, so you buff out the spot.
>Heh, maybe that would raise the price...
>Meanwhile it seems Crim is getting the same treatment, he offers her 20 bits for the knife, and 150 for the bag of silver.
>She talks him up to 180 for the bag, but decides to keep the knife after he wouldn't budge.
>You pick up the lamp and examine it more closely. Maybe Twilight could tell you more, though she might be a bit less willing after your last visit...
>You find that the lamp seems to have a faint seam running under its inscription.

>>27255728
The lamp is actually something Mango picked up back in the Canterlot dungeons. Everyone forgot about it though.

>>
>>27255697
No sale, we'll look elsewhere. Also Twi would beg us to talk with her after she finds out about what we found. Also I hope Crim didn't agree on the coins, it breaks the whole Jew pony thing.
>>
>>27255697
Let's open the canterlot lamp, but the stuff we just got we should bring to twilight, I at least want to TRY to be friendly with her

Technically we haven't even tried haggling. Also I doubt 180 for a bag of silver is more than metal worth.

Well screw you, I'm willing to let bygones be bygones if she will. I'd much rather have a princess on our side if shit goes south, as opposed to being absolutely on Celestia's. Make backup plans for backup plans. And yeah, she's a bit annoying and fat, but nobody is perfect.
>>
>>27255784
She thinks she's doing the right thing.

I mean, the guns we had were illegal and we hardly knew her, of course she would take them.
Also, there's a big vampire scare going on and a meek, scared young vampire just happens to fall into her lap in need of blood, of course she wanted us to play spy for her. Heck, we willingly agreed to it after the thing with Flutters.

I really think we could and should make up with her.
>>
>>27255789
>we haven't even tried haggling
And that's why she's doing better than us at it.
We should have Crim use her jew powers on him.

Or maybe we could seduce him.
>>
>>27255826
Really, I don't even want to make a sale here. We could benefit greatly from a second opinion.

It's more of a you have no other options but I'll make the deal a bit sweeter because you guilt tripped me agreement.

I'll work with her because of lack of options but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I'd just rather be at somewhat self-efficient or at least have other routes to take then be forced into working with her.

"Hey! Wait, come on, this might be a real threat to Equestria. At least hear me out."
>Twi's voice is muffled through the door.

>Crim nods, holding back a chuckle, "You got her to give you illegal guns by not letting her pee?"
>The little mare giggles. "I dunno Princess, sounds like she beat you fair and square."

"Either way, I think you'd want to hear about this. There's a lot bigger things at stake than our egos here."

>"Uh.."
>You float out your bag of coins as you walk
"Like these coins, do you know anything about them?"
>Twilight examines them as she sits down on a small cushion and waves you over to a similar one.
>While she's still distracted, you sqee and sit, hoping she didn't notice.
>"Well, they look like coins from right after the civil war, when silver was used due to a gold shortage. But they don't have a lot of patina. Where did you get them?"
"Ah, in time, in due time. Here, I'd like you to look at all of these."
>The knife and circlet share the same story. Twilight says they all seem to be from right after the war with Nightmare moon, but they look too new. She suggests looking for a museum to take them in. She does note that the insignia on the Circlet is one she's never seen, and would like to research herself.
"Well, would you buy it?"
>"Sure. How does 80 bits sound?"
>On the Large gemstone, Twilight says it's a sunstone. Nothing too uncommon, but one this size is worth quite a bit. 100 bits or so.
>The ichor is something she says she doesn't know much about.
>"I've heard it mentioned in my studies on, uh.. well nothing too important, but I have no specifics on what it does, other than make the drinker stronger in some way."
>The lamp brings a stronger response.
>"This is a prison for a Djinn. And going by the warnings written here in Saddle Arabian, a fairly dangerous one. Have you talked to it? Did Mango release it? She's always so reckless..."

I get this but It seems a bit far fetch to think they had a hidden underground dungeon filled with golems without at least one of the owner of the castle knowing.

Also, Life isn't black and white I'm sure some of Djinn just minded their own business.

I think we just pulled the top off to talk to it.

"I think you just pop the top off..."
>Twilight uses her magic to tug on it, and in her effort, the top get's turned 90 degrees, which again summons the little pony made of smoke.
>"Ah, thanks for letting me... wait, who are you?"
>"I'm Princess Twilight Sparkle, of Equestria."
>"I'm in Equestria! Dang... Have you seen that batpony? How long has it been since she had the lamp? Time flows.. oddly within that prison."
>"Just a few minutes, I think."
"You are still offering a wish if we help you, right?"
>"Yes, of course. Just one though, and it has to be something within my power."
>Twilight, puzzles over the little smokey figure. "And how exactly do we help you?"
>The Djinn shrugs. "I don't know how that wizard imprisoned my, but please, let me out if you can. You don't know what it's like to be cooped up in here when you used to be so free."

Let's ask in more detail how she wants us to do this for starters, it may not be as simple as taking the top off or smashing it... Though I thought she was already out? Is the little pony we see out here an illusion of her?

>thought she was already out?
she was out. But she went back inside her lamp because we were done talking to it.

>You wish you could give the little Djinn a hug, but it's current form seems to flow around any attempt to touch it.
"I thought you were already out?"
>"No! I can project this humble illusion out of the lamp, but I am still very much inside it."
"And we can't just smash it?"
>Twilight raises the Lamp to her face and reads. "If the imprisoned spirit within is close to escape, we beseech you to cast this lamp upon the stone, that it might shatter, ending the spirit within as well."
>"So, uh, no, that wouldn't be a good idea."

"Well, what do you want us to do?"
>The Djinn looks downcast. "I do not know. I know that the saddle arabians used a great and ancient staff when they imprisoned me. I think the staff might be the key to my freedom as well."

>Twilight gives the Djinn a smile, but you can tell it's not exactly sincere.
>"So, Mrs. Djinn, why exactly were you imprisoned?"
>"I told the batpony. A local noble was upset with me, and had a wizard surprise me while I rested. I do not know what my transgressions were, but I am going mad in this tiny cell. Please have mercy, Princess."
