First of all, Tirek is entirely plausible as a Master of Darkness.(or BBEG) Second of all, who says it was only one Devil? All the villains can be their own interpretations of a devil. NMM was greed, Chyrisalis was deceit, Discord is discord. And Tirek was simply betrayal and manipulation.
