We were raised on fads. When I first started school if you didn't have pogs you didn't have a way to interact with the other kids since everyone was playing with them. But as soon as you got them suddenly you had people to play with and you quickly made friends. Pogs turned to power rangers, power rangers to pokemon, pokemon to dragon ball Z. We were indoctrinated right from the start to follow trends.
